Who cares what we think we can’t handout penalties that is why we are not mods. However we come to the defense of a long time member because this penalty was given without just cause. It was given because of the jaw dropping reaction upon its initial viewing and not because it was against the COC.

Actually, I did speak to Bini about it - and I didn't give the penalty.

I do care what people think. I like to imagine that to some extent this is still a community where other people's opinions matter.
With regards to my statement that you quoted, I was not talking about the penalty - Iwas talking about the posts reacting to it demanding a penalty. My feeling is that rather than take that approach, trying to talk to each other might be more productive.
saying that the penalty was given based on an initial reaction is quite unfair. If you look, you would see that the post was made two days before the penalty was applied. Hardly a kneejerk there.
In any case, I see that nothing can come of me saying any more about it. people's minds are made up, and from experience here I've learned that nothing can change that - so why bother trying.

I am a bit undecided about this post to be honest.
It is a thoughtfull and maybe completely true writing.
But on the other hand, is it the right way to "denounce" (forgive me if it is not the correct term in this case) a member in public?
How would YOU feel?
I just would like to hear some opinions from the view of la_ultima_hora....if there are any of course..

That's the way it has always been. And if this board wants to promote positivity and good relations between its members, that's the way it should be.

But thanks for the support guys. Giving me a qp for that piece all of a sudden puts us into uncharted waters. While my lack of tact is sometimes refreshing for some, my targets often have hurt feelings. And while I can often get some laughs with my posts, many of these laughs come at other people's expense.
Qps, as well all know, are a strange and archaic gift granted by mysterious, fickle, and capricious beings whose sole purpose it seems is to make us wonder how we can get into their good graces so we may be be blessed with this little red star. Oh, but we can't be too obvious about it. Noone likes qp hunters.
They range from the "Hey, that was pretty thoughtful for a n00b like yourself, stick around" qp to the "There is noone who can churn out his vision of Heroes like you, The_Hydra. We're not worthy" qp. Those came in bushels until he transcended to a higher plane of existence.
But they don't get granted for Gootch's, "I think you're an idiot. Here's why. And when I'm done with you everyone else is going to think you're an idiot too" posts. While I'd like to think they serve some vital function, they violate Val's pinko, pacifist, goober-new age, one with the cosmos, tai-chi flouting, zen, Buddhist, and yes, girlfriendless sensibilities, if not the CoC.
Maybe I'll get there some day. Maybe I'll be able to combine what I'm able to see with say, bort's capacity to make people laugh warm laughs. And wouldn't that be something?
Edit: I don't know about hora, but if I was in her shoes, I'd wonder what kind of cosmic justice rewards those who make me feel bad.

We all know QP's are given to guests in here who puckers up to get some brown lipstick going.
Honest out soken guests will rarely get one.
As for Hora I think it might be a little hard.
Thats why I made the last reply to say make something positive happen.
I know we gave her a few jabs & it seems like everyone is against her.
Feelings hurt, ganging up on. Emotionally disturbed. It's not easy.

If your "northwind" post wouldn't be +qp worthy, I wouldn't have written "I am undecided". I think it is...on one hand.
But being "neutral" means I have to see both sides, therefore I am hesitating a bit and I'm looking for different opinions. If there aren't any, or if they are not reasonable, I will apply the QP of course.

I don't think that Hora would mind or care too much about what Gootch just said, it's not like she's even an active member, she'll probably log in next month start an "I M BAACCCKKK!!1!11" thread and dump another fresh load of her pics in the photo thread

I guess that the fact that he didn't say the things gently, that he didn't think whether it will offend or not, makes the post so good. It's awaking.
I wouldn't be able to write such a post, because I would make it more delicate, and thus probably unsuccessful.
