Beyond that, could someone please explain to me what all this recent rambling in the Feedback thread is even about? Because I certainly don't see much feedback here. Just a lot of he said she said about nothing in particular. But I guess that's par for the course these days.

The truth will destroy untruth, if that is what you mean! Don't speak things that are not true and your statements will stand. If you mean I'm destructive in that the "religion bashing club" has been called to present actual facts behind their claims about religion, then yeah, I've destroyed some of their fun.

Oh, I don't think TheDeath is destructive to the boards either. He'll press you on your arguments and some folks just can't take the heat. Me, I've been tempered in the fires and battle tested so I don't mind the heat.
Some people love to argue strongly but can't stomach someone else presenting their case just as forcefully. They say "delusional Christian this," "fairy tale that", "hypocrit, this,, "moron that," "Religion is the source of all the problems in the world," ect, ect. And some of those people can't stand for anyone to disagree with them or to critisize athesim. In fact I'm under the impression some of them run cry in the feedback thread or PM a moderator quite often whenever their views are called into question. To them I say "Man up and win your own debate. Don't try to get a moderator to step in and bail you out just becaue your arguments don't make sense."
If you make statments be prepared to defend them. If you put words in my mouth link to where I said it because if I didn't say it I WILL call you on it. If you claim the Bible/Christianity teaches this or that [insert ultra negative thing], you better come prepared to back up your statments with facts because the 253 pound "The Hammer" Rilke will be swinging your way. Can your words stand up to the pounding?

I agree with dimis about what he says about the OSM. For the rest of his post I tend to agree with him as well, but I base my opinion more on extrapolation and secondhand experience, so if anyone would contest that supported by some hard facts I wouldn't argue.
Death, my impression is that the bulk of your post is directed at me; should you expect an answer, don't be disappointed when I say, that you ill get none - after all this is the very serious feedback thread and I didn't delete my posts here completely without a reason.

Of course real life isn't always fun. But the OSM exists to provide a venue to make talking about it fun. The debates should be fun - they're not a matter of life and death (no pun intended). The OSM should be a fun place. It's not real life - it's online. We come here to talk, to relax, to have fun! And if we can't do that, then why do we come at all?

I think this whole thread deserves a couple of QPs. I'm not a regular OSMer and it was the first time in a loooong time (Corribus' nano thread aside) that I really enjoyed reading an OSM thread and couldn't get my eyes of it. Such good discussion should be encouraged in the chaos that is the modern OSM.

Is it time we had a look at thread rating? My news poll thread is harmless and I was making some good points even if no one took up the other end of the argument. There are a number of votes. It may not be the best topic ever but it certainly isn't the worst.
I'm very annoyed to look this morning and see it marked 'to delete'. I don't see who marked it that. I don't see a reason given. Just a "your effort was wasted" sign.
