I'll agree to disagree...
*The rules might have taken something away from the GAME, RSF, but might I remind you that most of them were created by yourself. So, as much as NO RULES allows for more possibilities, it also allows for more frustration & abuse. And if I am going to run this GAME, as you did before, then I need help making it as easy, as smooth, as fair, and most importantly...as fun as possible.
*People can still do anything that they want in this GAME and suggest anything as well, but it doesn't mean that it will be accepted. I'll agree though, that creating Threads for the single purpose of claiming them is a funny idea! So, I will take that out of the rules. But, if those Threads vanish in the VW deleting process, then they will be removed from the UTOL, as was the case with RSF's "Pandora" Thread.
*As for campaigning & voting for yourself, these are basically unfair! If it is fun for you, RSF, then great! But that doesn't mean that it is fun for everyone else. I don't want to see unfairness and I hope others don't either.
*RSF, I still don't understand what you are trying to express when you speak of the Tournaments. Anonymous? Free challenges? Huh??? Please explain...
*In closing, I'll agree that the rules have taken away some things from the GAME, but I say that those things were counter-productive in the 1st place! In addition, the rules have also added some things to the GAME as well: structure, stability, functionality, fairness, & more FUN!
*To me it's always...always...always...about compromise (Whether it's in this GAME or in life)! In the end, I gave a little & I took a little...I just ask that everyone else be willing to do the same. Thank you!

I don't see how it's unfair. Both people can campaign, both people can vote for themselves. Sounds pretty fair to me. I think it's a unique element of the game that must be kept. Well Leo if it's fun for you to not have campaigning then great! But that doesn't mean that it is fun for everyone else. I never once saw you ask what the other people in this thread wanted. You just said I'm going to make some major changes to improve this thread and did it. I always throw out ideas before I act on them. If I get lots of negative feedback, I find a different idea that everyone likes or at least something that most people like and the rest are indifferent.
I'm also a bit bothered by the fact that you nominated your own thread in HC Awards 2005 when the thread was just made in February.
Quote:
*RSF, I still don't understand what you are trying to express when you speak of the Tournaments. Anonymous? Free challenges? Huh??? Please explain...
In the old thread I had said originally that I thought all my threads including Current Thingies and Tossers Tavern should be put into the contest for Round 10, because those threads would be a cool prize. And Dragon Slayer and Shadowcaster could choose different threads for that round, so that they could be saved up for the tournament. I gave this entire thing as an idea. Instead you ignored most of it. You deleted my possession of my Pandora thread, which was never a rule until now, handed over my two best threads to Shadowcaster and Dragon Slayer, and then put the rest of my threads into the tournament. So no don't put my threads into the tournament.
You seemed to ignore this as well as any of my thoughts on how to improve the thread and changed many of the rules. Then I get an email saying that I'm digging at you for trying to make another funny thread in Tavern. Don't think that I'm going to hold a grudge over this or that I'm going to be passive aggressive towards you, because that's not my style. I think I've been pretty patient with all of this. Until I get get an angry email followed by a post making me look like the bad guy. Now I'm less patient. But I'm more than willing to move on and be done with it, with no demands. You don't have to change anything.
Other than that I don't have anything else to say and am ready to move on. Now you know how I feel. In a nutshell, I'm kind of upset because I gave an inch, but you took a mile. That's about it. I feel like you've completely mutated what I created. I think you should be able to see where I'm coming from. It would be like Val leaving Pandora as admin for a month or two, because he's gonna be gone and she completely revises several parts of the COC and Faq. Val would probably be upset when he got back to see how much HC had changed in his absense especially if he didn't agree with several of the changes.

Caption Contest Resutls...
Shadowcaster has defended his possession of the "Current Thingies@" Thread for the 1st time.
UTOL update done... RSF you said: "I'm also a bit bothered by the fact that you nominated your own thread in HC Awards 2005 when the thread was just made in February."
Good point, buddy. I had seen someone else nominate the GAME before I Posted my nominations, so I figured it would be ok to do so as well. But you bring up an obvious issue that I missed...the Thread was created in 2005, but the awards reflect stuff from 2004. My bad...I will edit that right away.
As for the other issues you raised, I am sorry if I upset you. I never meant to do that...seriously! I have always tried to be on your side regarding this GAME because I acknowledged the genius behind the idea and the effort you put into handling it, as well. I really wanted to see you get a +QP!
I have only done what I think is best for the GAME and for its members. The only time I have ever thought about myself is when I was looking for a way to make the GAME more manageable because I have a real-life (just like everyone else) and cannot afford to spend hours going through minute details. (I'm sure you can appreciate this considering the circumstances that led to me taking over the GAME for you)
To me, implementing a few more rules made it easier to handle the workload of this GAME. If these rules have inconvenienced the members or were just plain useless (as was the case with the "creating a Thread just to claim it" example), I have realised that a mistake was made and have compromised on the issue. I am always...always...always...willing to compromise.
I know my personal email to you was a little "dry" as well and, again, I am sorry for that. But more importantly, I want to thank you for your feedback and welcome you back to "active status" in the GAME once more! We are definitely better off having you among our members!

I'm glad you can see where I'm coming from. It's not a big deal. I realize you put much effort into this, so Kudos for that.
Well I think I'm gonna come out of retirement to challenge Shadowcaster for Current Thingies.
He's undefeated and well, I'm gonna give my best shot to change that, cause apparently you foobums suck at this game.

Satyros,
I don't know about the others, but I thought is was unfair for you to vote since you made the post and you know how's poem was made by whom.
If the others don't think this is a problem, we will leave it as is, but maybe we could get everyones input on this, especially Léo (creator of new rules.) And I know Léo will be honest even if he is part of the competition in question.

The show must go on....
RealDeal, welcome to the GAME chum. I see you have claimed 1 unowned Thread & have challenged for another. We are not in the "Thread-Claiming Stage" at this moment (we are in the Contest Voting Stage), but since you are new it's not a big problem.
The problem is, though, that you have asked to do 2 things at the same time. You can only claim 1 unowned Thread OR challenge for a owned one ONCE per Round. Again, this is not a big problem since you have time to think it over until Round #9 begins.
RSF, I will remember that you have challenged Shadowscaster for "Current Thingies@" in Round #9, so you won't need to rePost it...unless you change your mind and want to do something else, once I officialy open Round #9 to Thread-Claiming.
Woock, you may challenge RSF, once I officialy open Round #9 to Thread-Claiming, since he has pulled a "Michael Jordan" and returned to the GAME that he helped define. RSF is fair game...for challenges that is.
Conan & TAK_Satyros, I don't find it unfair that the Contest-creator can vote. I myself did it in the "Asmodean vs Shadowcaster" Caption Contest. I will point out, though, that I consciously waited until a few other people had voted until Posting my own vote. That does not mean that anyone who creates a Contest must also do that...I'm just saying what I did and why. Afterall, I think we can trust those that are taking the time to create the Contest to vote based on the content of the submissions & not the submitees.
P.S. I haven't even looked at the Poem Contest between Conan & myself, so I am stating these things without even knowing who is winning or what.

When a round ends Leo_Lion updates the threads everyone owns (in the first page) while makes a summary of what happened in each round.
P.S.Leo if you want your entries on the other two challenges let me know
Btw I am T.A.K. Satyros for those who question me-the other profile is invalid,my password isn't right and I can't restore it,big time trouble-I have the unposted entries of Leo_Lion and the profile says the same thing!
**As for the Contest Creator issue I voted because I liked the poem not the contestant who wrote it and from now on I suggest the one who creates the contest gets the final word (to vote after everyone else has) and then closes that contest by announcing the winner

Might I suggest a change to the rules?
Imo, the rule about people not participating in the game is nonsense, since this is an open forum and so everyone should be able to vote. Or something.
Anyway, it's not too fun when so few people vote. More votes, more fun.

The next step...evolution or creationism?!
Et tu, Conan?! (Et tu, Brutus)
I think you forgot something in my back, oh yeah...here it is:
Betrayed by my own friend...harsh! I don't think that I even want to continue in this game now that I've lost a Contest...
Baahahaha! *Just joking* I just couldn't let you get away with beating me without exacting a little revenge, now could I? - Round #8 is done like dinner! The 1st Post of this GAME has been updated with the Round Results & the UTOL reflects all "ownership" changes.
- Round #9 now begins and will be in the "Thread-claiming stage" until Wednesday @ noon (Board-time). So start Posting those claims WITH LINKS please...PRETTY PLEASE!
- After a great suggestion by Terje, I have altered the Game Rules to allow anyone from HC to vote in Contests, not just those participating in the MYT GAME. So, participants of a particular Contest can now ask anyone to "check it out", without making any voting suggestions, of course!
- As for the Contest-creator voting, I don't believe that a specific rule is needed. I mentioned "waiting after a few other people vote" and TAK_Satyros suggested "voting at the end of the Contest". Both of these are fine in my eyes, but if anyone disagrees, let us hear why.
