Well, I could throw in more A marks - to a point where it would be approximate 98% similarity. But my point remains - especially since we're not that good with DNA yet to be sure - how much of it actually concerns the biggest difference: our intelligence? I'd say it's somewhere in those 2%, and because of that, we're ultimately VERY different, even though - on first glance - we're very similar.
Next question - science sucks on that one, too - what triggered the development of the intelligence? And where are the transitional forms? What could possibly trigger the apes' evolution to such potential?
My guess is - leaving God aside - that apes and humans were completely different species from the very beginning, and our primitive ancestors absolutely weren't apes, even if rather animalistic.
In case you wonder, no, Australopithecus isn't a transitional form. it's a different specie - and extint.

wonder if i should point out the following two details:
"theory" has a different meaning for a layman than it does for a scientist

Actually its not, it only means we got someting similar "back then". Lets say we got 2 groups of people and a crossroad, they split up and form to different civilasations. Ages later they encounter each other again, they are really differet.
The analogy i drew is really weak compared to this, the point is that there is "some" common stuff, and that means some relationship. As said.

Oh no it's not.
You only changed "ape" for "common ancestor", which was pretty ape-ish anyway. To a point where you can safely call him an "ape", too.
The question about the trigger still remains.

Why do you make your own interpretations when the scientific community is very clear that we did not evolve from monkeys/apes? Strange. I also like to think that you mistranslated that part from the Polish science magazines, otherwise I am rather worried about their standards.

Funny, even in my stupid highschool biology textbook, it's stated exactly like that: we evolved from APES.
And I know that scientific community doesn't listen to that rubbish anymore - that's what I just said

Nobody negates the evolution, but the monkey->human concept - well, more and more of the science world turns away from it. There is absolutely no evidence. NOTHING. It's a guess. A theory. Unproved, and slightly dumb, at least for me.
This is what I mean. Do you stand by this statement or what? To you that ape is the same thing as common ancestor, so you are saying that the science world is turning away from believing that humans and apes had a common ancestor, right?

looks like I said it in a rather confusing way.
To clarify:
I've read/watched a lot of documentaries that stated that humans came from apes. From what I see nowadays, science no longer backs that up.
Nowadays, it's rather about the "common ancestor". Not apes. I am not saying there is some new way of thinking or something Or that science turns away from evolution concept.
however, for me (not for science), the "common ancestor" isn't much of an improvement. Because it still doesn't solve the trigger problem.

The apes in the savannah didn't have a lot of places to hide, so they had to know where danger comes from, so taller apes survived, simply, because they could see much farther. Evolution selected away the bent-over form, so humans started to walk upright. Walking upright also, apparently gave the benefit of extra brain development.
Humans then took on the ability to speak, so they could organise their hunt.
A "trigger", right?

No. It would suit every group predator on earth. As you see, it's not enough to develop verbal communication.

We do not know what it was that triggered it, how could we? There are more questions about it than answers. We don't even know the extent of how our brain actually differs from those of mammals. One perhaps most popular theory at the moment is that something forced the homo sapiens to be more socially reliable on others, which enhanced communication skills etc.
