Which was my point. We_don't_know. Yet people often act as if it was very obvious, almost common knowledge. When you ask them, they say: We come from apes. Most of them. But they can't really say more about it.
But it's indeed off topic, so I'm shutting up now

Indeed. But the moment you use our lack of knowledge on some matter as evidence for God, you are in for a fight (as Elodin does, don't know where you stand)

It's not an evidence. There is no evidence, unless counting personal experiences. Faith is faith. I'm just against mixing science with religion, or using one to counter another.

Lets try to turn this towards God then, what this topic really is about. What can you say about God, the attributes that he possesses, and how did you came to know them?
Just for example. Can he talk?

Talk. It requires corporeal body - the art of making sounds is purely physical. I'd say, a Greater Being such as God handles a better, more advanced ways to communicate.
I don't think we should portray God using human features

If God exists he is probably a member of some super powerful alien speices such as the Xel'naga in Starcraft.
I bet he looks like Cthulu or the flying spagthetti monster.

penalty, seriously?
while it's rather predictable that xerox brought blizzardverse into this discussion, even if in jest this possibility has as much proof behind it as any other idea about "God"
or to paraphrase a known phrase... "let him who is with proof cast the first doubt"
the Abrahamic God/Allah, Zeus/Odin, Mithras, Hekate, The Morrigan, Anansi, Shiva, FSM, IPU, Sun Wukong, the Horny Rainbow God, Osiris...
they all have exactly the same amount of proof behind their existence (in fact, if we go by number of books, Lolth, Vecna, Sehanine Moonbow and co, have more proof than all the others combined)

I'm not saying penalty, but it's really bordering on inappropriate.
Not for me, but there are more religious guys who can feel really annoyed about it.
You can't offend Zeus because.. because it's a dead religion. There is a difference, you know.

Its not dead! It still has believers... like me
lol
And I wasnt serious about Cthulu and Flying Spaghetti Monster but whats wrong with calling god an alien?
He flies around in space and creates things - it seems very alienish to me.
I dont understand what was so offensive... is HC based in Dubai now?

Why would God have to resemble our 'concepts' here? i.e a "race" with "vehicles" or other things that it is for us? you need more philosophy mate.
just a simple philosophical argument for this (not for any proof): what if the atoms are actually mini-galaxies themselves? What if we are actually "sub-particles" of an atom (let's say the 'Earth')?

I said we don't know the _extent_ of the difference, TheDeath. Not that we are not different.
@Doom. You only decided to answer the example...I shouldn't have put it there at all, lol. The real question was before that.

You dont know what the Xel'naga look like!
I didnt mean visual, but the Xel'naga fly around and help races to develop. Kind of like god in religion.

Minion, let me quote myself:
Quote: I don't think we should portray God using human features
here's the answer, not to the example but to your question
I can elaborate if you wish: As in my book, I feel its childish to try to describe superior beings using our logic and perception. It won't work. We will at best describe some concept of a perfect human, definitely not God. it's out of range

No, I mean I don't add any special features to the vision of God I've already described - briefly.
Which is: A superior being, existing outside time. And quite an artist, I believe

Have you reasoned what God is or do you have an intuition?
By the way.. there are other religious people here too. I am interested in what God is like for you and how you know it, no matter the religion.

Part reasoning, part intuition. I was always sure that we can't really make God some sort of super-human, because it has no point logically, too many logical flaws (that's why many atheists refer to it as a argument against existence of a God, but they usually fail to notice they criticize their own idea of a God, eventually, someone else's guess.)
