Well, your system is probably well thought and very different from mine. I accept your ideas (dont wanna argue anymore) and it is good you sent them here (I am glad, because it would be too much talk in my thread and I want to discuss also something else)

And hey, I got an idea! At the end of my thread (when I send all parts) we will make a poll where everyone can vote, so we can see whose ideas are more liked by others! What do you say? (You dont have to say anything, I'll make it though! I can already see it: Sindbad vs Alcibiades...)

Well, it's not like a competition or a fight, my ideas vs. yours. It's ment as a place where we can exchance and discuss our ideas, so that we might possibly improve them together. I have no problem with you taking the ideas from this topic and working on them in your topic, I just throw in my comments when I think they are relevant in order to help develop the best ideas. When peole have objections to my ideas, I also consider what they say, to see whether it might improve what I have ... I think that's the idea of coming here, if I didn't want anybody to comment on my stuff, I'd probably just keep it on my own pc.

Take it easy! I only want to have some fun! I love to compete! (guess I am gonna compete with actionjack in drawing!) This doesnt have to be only about improving heroes! Besides, I got some critic:
1. If you put those units into haven, you would relly make a mess in the training system
2. You choose wrong creatures to the dungeon - gorgons living in underground?
3. And I was wondering... how can a crusader dodge in his heavy armor? And how can he even be called crusader, if he doesnt have a holy ability?
4. Why do you want to have monks and priests separated? Besides, I dont like the priest in his form, could be completely changed to have the abilities of a monk! (some holy protection, better spells, etc.)
5. consume corpse is a perfect idea for ghouls! (and ghast a good name)
6. Royal mummies dont fit into necropolis (just imagine)
7. you made lots of mistakes in your tables (I understand it - the copy-and-paste system)
8. Pegasi are a great idea!

Hey Hey.. respect the original idea.. I am still around afterall (from time to time).  The creatures in the OP is already PERFECT!  Muahahahaha

I am just kidding of couse.  
Feel free to make you own creatures.  I am just glade that people are giving this idea further thoughts.  Who knows, maybe we will see it in H6.

First of, yes Actionjack, full respect for your original ideas. I actually did not even remember that you made full stats for the units in your post (had forgotten how detailed it was!) when I worked with this idea.

To address you comments Sindbad:

Yes, it's correct having alternate creatures will mess up the training system a bit, but not more than you can choose what you'll train into. Alternatively, Pikemen, Halberdier, Swordsmen, Crusaders, Priest and Zealots should be taken entirely out of the training system - or alternatively, have their separate branch. Make all those units female? So Peasant > Archer > Footman > Monk > Cavalier and Pike(wo)man > Swords(wo)man > Priest.

2. You choose wrong creatures to the dungeon - gorgons living in underground?

Gorgons living underground seems ok to me. The Hydras moved underground, and Gorgons and Hydras go well with each other.

3. And I was wondering... how can a crusader dodge in his heavy armor? And how can he even be called crusader, if he doesnt have a holy ability?

The Crusader should not be a traditional Heroes 3 Crusader - that's what the Squire is. It might even be a bad name, but it's easier to carry the old names over. This is supposed to be an offensive unit, a Blade Master (that might be alternative name), in light armor (thus: Low defense rating and low HP), but with good fighting skills.

4. Why do you want to have monks and priests separated? Besides, I dont like the priest in his form, could be completely changed to have the abilities of a monk! (some holy protection, better spells, etc.)

The idea is to focus on the two different aspects of the Holy Caster - the defensive, healing Monk on one side, and the offensive Zealot fighting the evil on the other. Actually, I would like to have the Inquisitor and Zealous Inquisitor as the offensive units, and the Monk and Abbot as the more defensive one, but Nival used the other names.

5. consume corpse is a perfect idea for ghouls! (and ghast a good name)

Hmmm, we had Royal Mummies in Heroes II.

Yes, I realize that. Copy-paste thing, as you say, sometimes it slips.

Thanx again - and full courtesy to Actionjack, whom I think mentioned the Pegasi first in this topic. But it was one of the creatures of Heroes III that should certainly not have become extinct.

actually.. I used Eagle/Skylord.. but suggest Pegi as alternative.. (I am just not a very Pegi guy...)  

But this just bring out the 2nd point to the alt creature, as there are so many fantasy creatures that could fit into each factions, and having an alt creature system give us that.  (I think H4 fail becuase they don't have enough level of creature.. and they also look ugly).  You can eve make Alt Alt creatures (3 choices for creature production) just to fit it all....

anyhow... do hope to see other's input.. or just make a creature for fun...  I am sure Alc and sinbad is not the only creature person out there on this fourm......

on the other note.. I am not sure how it would mess up the training system...  I need to look back at the game again, but if I remember right, when train, don't they just increase one level?  If so, than it is not much problem, as it would just turn it into the creature with the building you have.  So if you have Zealot building instead of Priest, it would train up to a zealot... And what if you don't have the building yet?... well... a dialog box asking you the choice of what you want to train up to is fine too.

Yes, there are still lots of creatures I'd like to see back in the game, like the Evil Eye and Beholder (which I did not include in my list) and also many new exciting suggestions like the (Skylord).

Yes, that captures very well a huge part of the problem with Heroes IV.

Actually, you train Peasant > Archer > Footman > Monk > Cavalier, which is level 1 > 2 > 3 > 5 > 6. It would therefore make sense to throw in a human unit at level 4, to complete the chain, and then none-human units at the other levels, or you can just make it a choice between the two alternatives as you say.

I have already explained how the trainig system would be with *my* alt creatures.
Gorgons just cant live underground! The hydras can, because they have changed their look from amphibious to dinosaur. Imagine warlocks with gorgons! Are you crazy? They are much more for some
I know that there were mummies in Necropolis in Homm2, but I meant to imagine them so: look at the city and imagine them there! And can you imagine their dwellings?

Hmm maybe it's just me ... I don't know, wouldn't have any problems with the Gorgons living underground ... I know they are traditionally plain-dwelling creatures, but I think a gorgon like this would sit well with the Hydra:



And as for the Mummies ... if you can have Zombies, why wouldn't you have Mummies? I know they traditionally live in Pyramids, and that wouldn't perhaps fit in perfectly (but then, a Pyramid of black marble or obsidian and possible with some glowing green stones wouldn't be completely off - it could even look cool), but otherwise, let them live in a Tower or a Mansion like the Lichess and the Vampires.

Nice pic Alc.  
And the fact that you have a H5File folder just show how much your love for the game is....  

I never was a big fan of Gorgon, but by looking at the sweet pic, can see they can easily be creature of underground... afterall, its a fantasy game.

Mummy would be a bit of strange fit for Undead, as Mummy is more Egyptian and less goth than other undead units.  However, Mummy could be associated with the Academy, which would be the missing link between Necromancer's seperation from the magi.

Well, thats a nice picture of a gorgon. That gorgon would fit into underground, but with dark elves? And I would prefer the look of the gorgon from H3 and in a beastmaster faction (a hero riding a gorgon). And the mummy would definetely fit more into Academy than Necropolis.

Gorgon would fit in with the Dark elves.just put some history on it..like,while establishing the underground castles,and assembling clans,some of the dark corners of caves hidden some groousom roars of dark skined-deadly monsters.This gorgon would fit in the dark elfs armies.Would look better in black\green like mighty gorgons look.

Mummies would fit in the academy?Why??Because the wizards are now comfortable on sand and have sand based units.They were always on snow?Mummies are undeade creatures,who live in the home of all undead creatures which is necropolis.
I can't see the mummy building which is to say a pyramid floating near other academy buildings....Maybe it does fit in....but can't see reasons.
