Just because of the look of the town. If the Necropolis wouldnt look so gothic and with buildings on spikes, it would be good. But I think that it would be better to have them as neutral to be more rare (like so many ancient zombies?). And they could possibly fit into academy too! Imagine the situation: the wizards are jealous, because the necromancers have powerful magic. So they were trying to find out how the necromancy works. The wizards were travelling through the desert and discovered ancient tombs with mummies. They tried to resurrect them and so they created these monsters! And now it would also make sense that they would be neutral! What do you say?

Well, they are coming back as neutrals, but being that Necropolis contains all the undeads - and such a varied collection of undeads as skeletons, zombies, vampires, ghosts, liches and dragons - and that Academy make war on Necropolis because of their use of Necromancy, I still say it would be utterly insane to have Academy use mummies, and it would make perfect sense to rank them with the Necropolis. And nevermind the gothic look of the city, you can have other mummies than those of ancient Egypt.

Well I more ment like, there have been others through history that were mummified than the Egyptians. Just because it's a mummy does not mean you can't find it in other cultural relationships than the egyptian one. Which is why I have no reason relating it to the gothic necropolis city.

Actually I want to have the Swordsman and Crusader (or: Swordsman and Blade Master) as alternatives to the Footman / Squire, so that you can choose either one which suites your strategies best.

On the mummy thing....
First of all, I think mummy would fit well into the game... since we already have them in the previous game, and the Necros are suppose to come from the Academy, which the mummy could be one of their earlier undead experiment...
However, Egyptian theme mummy would just seem out of place in the gothic style of the current undead. I guess you could try to make it more gothic looking, but it might just be too Lich like. So it would seem out of place in both Academy or the Necro. (also the role of slow melee attacker seem to fill out by Zombie)
That say, I think it is still possible to have mummy in Necro.... just give us a pic of a more goth looking bandage undead, Alc.

I think that every undead creature is welcomed in the necro town. The necromancers would like nothing more than increasing the numbers of their undead army.
Hell, I won't be surprised if they had undead rabbits or something...

im not big fan of homm5 and homm1 will always beat it imo,but i think that even the slightest undead creature,as in halfway crushed skelei,should join the ranks,becouse if its undead,its necropolistic,and only!

I think that picture suits good to the un-upgraded death knight perfectly. Does anyone agree?
And mummies should be neutral, or not even in the game. There is no need for them if they would have the same abilities as zombies or doom knights.
And one more thing: the crusader should be a lvl 4 unit! Dont forget the training!

1. Dark Knight/Dread Knight - Dread Knight/Dread Templar or Dread Champion
2. Efreet Sultan - Efeet Caliph
3. Minotaur/Minotaur King - Minotaur Slave/Minotaur Gladiator
4. Mighty Gorgon - Bull Gorgon
5. Camel Warden - Dervish

why would there be sultans first,and not normal efreeties?
and dark knight/antipaladins are good enought,the antipaladins are rearly used in the games
