Nagas doesnt live in swamps. Their capital is either Karthal or the one in Hasima (which looks like a jungle). Im guessing at the latero one.

It is obviously far east inspired and Sea Serpents/Sea Wyrms/Leviathans MUST be tier 7.

A Far East inspired Naga is fine with me to. As is a Serpent-like tier 7(We had one in the last Temple we made).
As for the Capitol as Karthal; it is doable, but it raises some questions. If the Naga are present on the "Mainland" of Ashan, then why have they not fought alongside Haven, Academy Etc. against the demons? That kind of questions. Hashima, like I have stated before, does not exist on Ashan. The Hashima we used in the previous Temple was based on a map we thought that was Post-TotE. The map we used was actualy a Pre-pre-alpha map, back in the time when ubisoft & Nival were actualy in half-a-mind to continue on the HoMMIV story.

Either way, Xerox is for a start from scratch. Is anyone interested for an edit or a complete rework ?

If we're starting again, I'd like to offer a suggestion for an archer type unit:

Chakrama Chakrama Rebounder
Ranged ranged, rebounding shot*

*After hitting the target enemy unit, the chakram rebounds, hitting another enemy unit (at up to 3 spaces distance) for 1/2 damage.

Hmm your right. Hasihima didnt exist on the map so that means Karthal MUST be their capital.
It looks pretty naga-like too - it has Asian architecture (? cant see it so good) and conjured water plains.

I say that the Nagas terrain would simply be - water.
No faction has water as a racial terrain and it fits for the Naga.

I say start from scratch - here is a suggestion for creature line-up.
The Kraken could be a the ultimate racial-sub skill ("summons a krakenin the middle of the battlefield, the area must be submerged, the kraken attacks all enemies close to it and cant be destroyed").

1. Triton-Wave Rider/Buke
2. Serpent Fly-Dragon Fly/Coatl (flyer)
3. Chakrama-Chakrama Rebounder/Mononofu  (shooter)
4. Siren-Strom Witch/Lorelei (caster)
5. Battle Turtle-War Turtle/Siege Walker (large creature)
6. Shi-Shinobi/Samurai (large creature)
7. Sea Leviathan-Emperor Leviathan/Azure Wyrm (large creature)

That's 2 more for the starting from scratch idea. Anyone else interested ?

Daystar if you have any ideas, feel free to pitch in.

As for your creature line-up, Xerox, could you elaborate on that ? Cause I'm not getting any clear visions with that. Try to explain what the creatures are and what they're supposed to look like. Also I'm getting the feeling your naga are rather reminiscent of the Naga created by Blizzard and that something we tried to avoid last time around and if it is up to ME, we still are.
Also I must say I like the Kraken idea, but it sounds way overpowered in this form.

Sorry Matt, but WHAT is a Chakrama, cause I can't find a thing of it on the web. Also rebounding shot sounds to me like a nerfed chainshot. It is certainly not a bad idea, but you need to explain it a bit more to make it plausible

As for myself, I still realy like the idea of the Naga allying with Lizardmen. Which I will try to make work in the next line-up, note that these are descriptive names, they are there to work out the kind of creatures involved.

1 ?
2 Lizardman infantry
3 Naga Archer
4 Naga Samurai (Elite infantry)
5 Naga Caster (shooter possible)
6 ?
7 Seaserpent(Waterdragon)
I know this is a far from perfect line up, it's missing at least 2 tiers. But it might be a nice starting up point. I'd like to incorporate a cavalry unit in there somewhere, but right now I can't see a way of making it work.

So this thread heas been resurrected! Great! I look forward to supply the thread with renewed ideas and things like that! It was a pleasure to work on it years ago! If I'll have any idea, I'll post it in no time!

Btw, War-Overlord, I'm for your statement, Nagas should ally with Lizards since they are much easier to mix than mixing Nagas with the Far East theme.... Just to show my first opinion!

As a matter of fact, I shall post now a creature idea or whatever you like to be this thing...

I know, that we've been argueing a lot about the Temple should be good or at least neutral but I think that this Basilik thing can be a really good choice! Sharp teeths, glowing blue-eyes, mud-covered skin.... Anything else?

Perhaps they were good, but now a new ruler is introducing badness, and they are falling towards evil.  Thus their lineup reflects remenants of the days of good as well as newer, eviler units?

It's more or less a non-word actually, although it's based on Chakram (you'll know it instantly if you've ever seen 'Xena: Warrior Princess'). Of course, this probably isn't a particularly appropriate weapon for an aquatic race, but on the other hand, I've always viewed nagas as more jungle dwellers than water dwellers.

That's why we would need a short history, which describes just the main aspects of the town... to know what creature and hero types would fit the general theme.

HoMM5 says the Naga are fightning demons (but the quote only exists in the game files becasue it got removed from in-game).

However I think the Nagas should not want to ally with the "good" races nor the "evil" races. I think they see their Empire so mighty that they dont need any allies (you know they rule over and under the seas etc...).

Personally I dont think swamp suits the Naga. Karthal is not in a swamp. But if most people thinks that the Naga should be in a swamp (...) and be with Lizardmens then do it.

Also here is a explaination of the creature line-up:

1. Triton-Wave Rider/Buke
Mermaid like creatures that ride on small dolphines.

2. Serpent Fly-Dragon Fly/Couatl
A low tier fast flyer that is poisones. The Coutal has more magical powers (like "spellsteal" or "destroy mana")

3. Battle Turtle-War Turtle/Siege Walker (large creature)
Large creature with huge survivability but low damage. Has either a catapult, healing tent or ballista on its shell.
The catapult randomly shoots walls and towers, the healing tent randomly heals allies and dispells stuff and the ballista randomly shoots enemies.

4. Siren-Medusa/Strom Witch (caster)
A spellcaster. Strom Witch focus more on magic and Medusa on normal shooting. The Medusa turns enemies into stone.

5. Shi-Shinobi/Samurai (large creature)
Naga elite warrior, offensive creature. There is real concept art of this (which we can pretend is a Shi).

6. Giant Squid-Kraken/Lusca (large creature)
Attack several enemies at once and can toss them in the air.
Can possbile be made to walk over walls if Leviathans doesnt get slither (which seems better, or atleast nerfing slither).

7. Sea Leviathan-Emperor Leviathan/Azure Wyrm (large creature)
Huge type of Sea Dragon and the daugthers of Shalassa. They can slither over walls (but takes damage from the moths anyway).

Now you have some more info how I think.

my idea of their town is somthing like the Dwarf town, only filled with water.  the sunken part has buildings, but at the top there is some swampyness.  So it is mostly an oceanic looking thing.  And not full on swamp, more like the florida everglades.

Reasonable, but I'd like to ask just how it is levels the 3, 6 and 7 creatures get around on land.

I actually like the idea of a basilisk at the top, but with the names being just Basilisk > Leviathan/Sea-Dragon

Oh, and for the names:  Sea Dragon ={Azure Dragon/Saphire Dragon/Blue Dragon/Writhing Dragon/Serpent Dragon}

Sea Dragon just doesn't sound very good.

You have made quite a reasonable line-up Xerox, but I would like to point out a few  things that could use work.
First, with only two naga tiers I don't think there is a lot of racial unity. As I have stated before I am a great supporter of the racial unity introduced by Nival & Ubisoft.
Second, you seem to be contradicting yourself. You state that the Naga follow a Far Eastern style, but you are trying to fit an Atlantis-style lineup into it.
Lastly, I find several of your tiers rather implausible. What I mean to say is that there is no appearant reason why the Merfolk, serpentflies, turtles and the kraken should fight for the Naga.

The conceptart you've found looks nice, but would you mind stating where you have found them. Nothing personal, but I am Highly sceptical about unsourced articles and concepts. Also IMHO, the Naga has to Human a face.

I have thought up a line-up myself, but it's not completely filled, I still miss a first tier and I have no unupgraded tier 6. Notheless I will try to explain what I have in mind here.

Tier 1: ?
Tier 2: Spearman > Pikeman | Moonblade (Lizardman Infantry that wield Polearms. The Moonblade is named after an abreviated translation of a Chinese Polearm as seen here Moonblade)
Tier 3: Composite Bowman > Gungdo Bowman | Kyudo Bowman (Naga Archer, The ungrades are named after the Korean and Japanese arts of Archery respectively)
Tier 4: Ronin > Samurai | Blademaster (Naga Swordwielders, names kind explain themselves)
Tier 5: Waterpriestess > Hydromancer | Cryomancer (Female Naga spellcasters (Upgrades focus on water and ice respectively))
Tier 6: ? > Basilisk Rider | Tarasque Rider (Lizardmen riding warbeasts; I suppose you all know Basilisks by now, but here is some info on the Tarasque)
Tier 7 Cerulean Dragon > Azure Dragon | Cobalt Dragon (Asian Dragons, with the aspect of water obviously)
