First time I hear of it. Normally you should be able to use runes, did you check how they work? For instance rune of berserking requires that at least one unit in the stack must have died. If you haven't already patch it to 3.0, maybe this will help.

No,you dont have to have Hammers of Fate to play ToE(it is stand-alone game).I am not sure what the problem is,but it is either your video card(try updating drivers) or the game wasnt fully installed or with errors.Once i had problem with Sylvan town it was dark when i got into it.

Generic Heroes Stay?
Hi all,
Just got this wonderful game with the two expansions.
Still on the first game atm, but wondering if I should lvl my generic heroes I can get (i.e. In Taverns).
Do they stay with me like the main heroes do?
Would I be able to call on them further in the game?

Course not, only campaign heroes remain. Likewise artifacts won't remain but you keep the spells so it's a good idea to build mage guilds to have an easier time in next missions.

I'm currently on The Conquest mission which I found very hard first time around!
Didn't realise the enemy built up their forces for ever! But on my second try so far good...

I don't remember the mission names, it's been a while  As a newbie I first played H5 on normal and did not encounter many difficulties, just a few missions were hard. It's the tribes campaigns that are hard, those you can't play without knowing the factions well.
Edit: I don't know about AI, as for mods this is the place to look. I'm not familiar with the existing ones but I'm sure someone will redirect you to some if you ask there.

Would the stat bonuses (eg. +1 Spellpower) carry on to next missions on the campaign heroes?

For the four main attributes of the Heroes, do they just affect themselves in battle or their whole squad.
For example if it only affects the hero, would a boost in Defence actually make a difference? (Since my hero can't physically get hit!)

It affects your creatures as well  They are getting defence and attack bonus for your hero attack and defence.

Ok couple of questions. First..any issues between ToTE 3.1 and laptops known? Laptop has 27gig memory, 256 ram, 1 ghz processor. Locks up every time I try to play. Reinstalled a couple of times.
Also dial-up and Hamachi. Any way I can sync the two? I know with Broadband just had to click 'bridge connection' but won't let me with Dial-Up (actually a broadband data card, just considers it dial-up for some reason). Anybody have a way to get Hamachi not to boot me from a Data Card Connection?

Does anyone know how many stats does defense skill give? I mean, let's take haven and say with expert enlightenment it gives 10 extra defense. How is this compared with expert defense?

Hi! I wonder if you get Lion Spirit all artifacts you get Empathy skill. But if you take Empathy also, does it double effect?
You move 20% forward on ATB
