This horrible unnecessary war is of no joy to me. However, I do see Russia and those who want independence as the lesser evil here. The Georgian government is the aggressor here, and we need to see it deposed.

I think both Georiga and Russia did dumb things.
Georiga was wrong to attack Tschinvali and Russia was A LOT more agressive then nescessary.
But things seems to be better now and I hope Europe can be the most peaceful continent again.

Wikipedia:
"During World War II, Finland fought the Soviet Union twice: in the Winter War of 1939–40 after the Soviet Union had attacked Finland and in the Continuation War of 1941–44, following Operation Barbarossa, in which Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union. Following German losses on the Eastern Front and the subsequent Soviet advance, Finland was forced to make peace with the Soviet Union. This was followed by the Lapland War of 1944–45, when Finland forced the Germans out of northern Finland."

Yes they did. The people's of Abkhazia and South Ossetia wants independence from Georgia and they have been attacked several times since their independence declarations from Georgia by the NATO-supported Georgian government. They haven't learnt from their previous mistakes and they attacked again killing thousands of people. Of course Russia, as a protector of the region against US and EU interests, had to act.

It gets even better
Quote: August 7, Georgian Ground Forces and Air Force Attack South Ossetia
August 8, Russian Forces Intervene in South Ossetia.
August 14, 2008 Signing of US-Polish Agreement on the stationing of "US Interceptor Missiles" on Polish Territory
Some of you may find THIS Article very interesting. "The Eurasian Corridor: Pipeline Geopolitics and the New Cold War". I'd say it's quite important to read.
It's funny how Western Media from day one painted Russia as the unprovoked Agressor... "Yeah I'm sure that's what Russie wants you to think"... Yes I can see how that is a very sound argument alright...
If anything it looks like this is just another diversion and "Validation" for America to push through some things they had wanted for a long time.
TA, nice one!

Oh and what is the gain of this?Russia wants more recognition from the world?
This affair is just a blurff to compromise west politics but more ever,Russia will compromise it self from this.It will end shortly ohh and, while Russia recognized ossetia,Georgia will have a hard time going to NATO.If it does,it loses it's lands,if not,it will be under Russian opression.
BTW,this looks like the case of the Republic of Kosovo, but if someboyd diggs deeper,it is clear that this hase nothing to do with us.It is simple Russian propaganda and at the same time it blocks Georgia to go to NATO.

Well I guess we're lucky to have intelligent, non-biased people such as you to "dig deeper" and show us the truth, kid.
By the way, by "digging deeper", do you mean watching TV or asking your dad?
Oh and you made a typo there. You said "Republic of Kosovo" instead of "Province of Kosovo".
