@Elvin,
Magic Immunity is ruled out against damage spells, as your opponent will just focus on other stacks, and leave the one with immunity for the troops to kill.
Orcs are a special case, as they can shatter, so they have their chances(if they guess the correct shatter that is), but haven, inferno and might build sylvan have lower chances of victory. Dwarfs are another special case as they are at the edge of might and magic and also they have runes.

Pure might sylvan yes, that's because I don't add more favoured enemies. If I did then destructive sylvan would instantly become a lot better.
Inferno depends, it can occasionally have trouble vs dungeon, fortress or sylvan but otherwise it's decent. That's why they have the quest to get cloak of sylanna, an early powerful meteor or well placed implosion can mess them up badly.
Haven doesn't have any problems, it has fared well vs any opponent.

I beat Elvin's Fortress with Inferno just now.
Got lucky with arties. Since dragon ring gave my seducers a start before the flamelords and machine ring is really nice. I was preparing for destro fortress so that's why the cape.
Perks, I also had all gating perks, you see ballista perks and imbued mark and some other skills.

My plan was to block his troops from moving and spare devils for end game if possible while weakening him with other troops and primarily with gates and ballista. I knew a long game was ahead so gates and summon pitlords were going to be crucial. Turned out to be much easier than I had suspected even though nihgtmare fear didn't trigger even once and he had dwarven luck stop quite lovely some of my spells.
A glorious victory for the devil kind!

Yeah my hands were tied before it even began - berserkers blocked, bears blocked, flamelords seduced, magmas stunned  No chance to deal some massive damage or at least hope to get to the ballista in time. My greatest mistake was getting no tap runes, my mana run out pretty fast and the only spell that benefited from my spellpower was resurrection that I could not cast  On the other hand if I had taken destructive Joonas had the right counter but at least I'd be able to destroy that ballista. Well played.

zomg flamewave triggered with every single strike 
interesting thing is that after you used rune of thunderclap on flamelords and attacked, the flamewaved stacks were signed with stunning animation, but I guess it wasn't effective?

Would be a little too effective don't you think?
But that was propably one of my best games if not the best. First round went just the way I wanted it to. Except that resisted puppet master.

Well the other puppet was not needed, just made things nicer for me.
The first resistance hurt though. It allowed shooting and almost managed to get rid of my black bear blocking hounds. Luckily you put your shieldguards there pretty well to keep them blocking them to some effect.
All in all mark was more needed than those puppets.

Academy vs Necro was pretty frequent in the Tournament though, at least around the time I played.
Academy vs Fortress along with Haven vs Inferno are indeed the rarest.

I am talking overall. Haven vs orcs and fortress vs orcs are 8+ and those are less than 4. It is possible some have been missed but it's not hard to tell that people avoid them

Why? I love that kind of game, remember that close one I had with Phoenix? (I won with Inferno btw)
Inferno is not that bad against Sylvan, because you have easy access to Dark Magic to take care of the Arcanes and such...

I think Inferno has the advantage as of 4.1 against Sylvan. Some factions simply tend to have a hard time against certain factions (like Haven with Sylvan, Necro with Dungeon) and Sylvan has a hard time with Inferno. Double dark magic from hero + seducers can neutralize high druids/arcanes really fast, often times preventing channeling from ever happening depending on the ATB rolls, and the inferno army + gating tends to outdo the sylvan army with favored enemies.

Againts high defence Sylvan your charging Nightmares(hoping to score a Fear attack) and Firehounds won't do very significant damage. And if you try gating instead you'll get obliterated with Emeralds, Winddancers and even Sprites 1st turn. Follod by Deep Freeze rain. Or a Mass haste afterwards (Emeralds with 22 init - seen it on Duel Map).
Swift Mind seems to be a must to counter either Druids or Arcanes...
