If I was not constraint at each moment by defs sizes hardcoded and the engine processing only one action at time, I could really make a new battlefield. ERM allows everything, the game not
Maybe in next WoG versions...

Working on scripts, I guess final test will start in about 2 weeks and will last another two weeks. I created a "test cheat" big script which will allow me to fix the strength of mobs/AI heros/modify passability in game real time, which will greatly speed the process, but still, there are millions of parameters to fix before release, mostly because I don't think a 150 MO package can be updated every week or so.
The first version must be the final, due to size. Therefore all the bugs must be identified before and get rid of them.
Jim Vogan worked and finished battlescript where a F-302 attacks wraiths, providing support from Daedalus battlestar cruiser.
The jet moves all the battlefield and launches 3 meteor shower on target.

Man, you have to understand:
1)Just because someone hadn't posted a screenshot, something is not dead...they may just work on some code
2)Just because someone hasn't posted anything, something is not dead...he may take some time off...
3)When there are no(and I mean absolutely no) news for something for about a year, then it's dead...like forge for example

Funniest thing is that:
1) Sal posts a screenshot once per half of week.
2) Thread is living, and Sal posts informations very often.

Salamandre,
I think you are the right man to do new expansion of HoMM3.
With all your knowledge, experience, ideas and together with team you should to collect, there will be no need to still wait on HoTA, WoG 3.59 or other neverfinishing projects

The problem in that as it is not regrettable, working out WoG 3.59 and HoTA is conducted very inertly recently, therefore Salamandre correctly arrives that does not wait for anybody, and itself tries to make game better and more interestingly.
Teams TPM and MoP were for the same reason made. To them "has simply bothered" to wait

ERM is complicated and I don't master it enough today (or later) to be able to make a new expansion. It needs more programming abilities than my basic ERM skill. But at least I can add some interesting things, while waiting for a more versatile version of WoG.

there is only one thing i don't get. if this is just Basic ERM you use, how would a advanced scripted map look like? as far as i know your maps/mods are the most advanced ever made for WOG.

Advanced ERM scripts would be for example "The random labyrinth" created by Jim Vogan for map 300 Spartans. Where a whole labyrinth is randomly created each time you go inside. Or if you want, his script where whole masses of terrain can be moved in one single click and assembled to create the picture of an artifact. Or any script from DATA/s, which were made by Fnord&company. (77.erm or adventure caves script for example)
Or Phoenix mod (Russian) made by Berserker, where the game mechanics are all modified.(I will try to translate it after completing Atlantis)
Such scripts I can't even read, neither understand. And they are required if one wants to create an expansion. Not to speak about being capable to modify the .exe, which is another problem, reserved for professional programmers.

Ok, guess you are right about ERM, but it's not the main thing regarding making new HoMM3 exp. Your dedication, enthusiasm and vision ( as you see, this time I choosed another 3 words ) makes you a perfect "head of project" for that. Suppose, you already have a good contacts with best ERM programers from around the world.
Another main thing is your personal feeling about whole that thing. Does it have a good promising from your point of view, or is it just something that you will be glad to work on.
I am only speculating about something that all of us wait too long.

Doc,
Thanks for kind words, but:
1) From what I see around, getting a whole team working together is impossible. One can rely only on his own work. If you have a team and one is leaving for personal reasons, the one who will replace (if) will have to start almost from scratch.
2) Being the head of a project and hiring people who script much better than me would be weird. The best has to be the head.
3) A new expansion could be done only by WoG team 3.59, but I strongly doubt today that they are still working on something.
4) Usually the people who know how to script/work in the .exe are strong personalities. That will create a clash conflict sooner or later.
5) I like making maps, not scripting, and for creating an expansion I would need to create millions of scripts, which I hate

I don't! With a bit of work, the 3.58 ERM gives us the opportunity to create a new expansion with every map.
Some may say it is outdated, but it was never fully explored. Surprises are coming every day.
I have a question for Heroes fans:
The battle icons were changed to custom menus, it means that clicking right on Ronon for example will open a menu with different actions possible. However on click-left, the "system option" is still enabled so you can use two clicks on the same icon (right and left)
My question: as it can be seen, the battle hint informs the player that he can click left to open system options. I have two possibilities: split Ronon pic in two and keep in a corner the system options icon, so the player can see it, or leave as it is and the hint will inform the player.
What would you prefer?

Hmm... I think that it will be better to make Ronon's icon smaller...

That was not the question : Would you like to still see the "combat system" regular icons in the split Ronon pic, or only having the hint is sufficient? After that, I can resize everything, not a big deal.
I mean, like that:

Assuming this map will take even a fraction of the time to complete as it did to construct, the icon prompt would probably be best to help keep things fast-paced.
