So I was pressured into playing DotA 2. Coming from LoL and thinking HoN was hard, i'm actually surprised with how well i'm doing. I have been playing about a dozen games with Death Prophet and Lina and its been a blast. I love that it has added new stuff to the genre, atleast when it comes to interface and integration with internet services such as streams etc, which HoN did not.

Playing Medieval 2 total war as Denmark, consolidated my powerbase in the Baltic by rooting out Norwegian strongholds. (they have a rampant army in Finland still) Gonna have to find a mod to get my faction religion to be Pagan and help Lithuania against their Teutonic invaders. (those ****ers are scary though, no idea how the Poles and Lithuanians managed to beat them in real life)

@Tsar: the Grand Duchy beat the crap out of Teutons 'cause they had a bloody horde of bloodthirsty Tatar troops. About 30k of them. And a part of the force pretended to retreat allowing the tatars to slaughter the poor krauts.
I'm currently playing Company of Heroes 2. A sequel for once is better than the original.

Tried Far Cry 3 multiplayer.
Everything kills in 3 shots or less.
Zero reason to use anything other than a fast firing SMG with hipfire.
It blows my fricking mind how much it sucks.
Experience the thrill of dying horribly to maximum rank hipfire rushers 30 times before you get your first kill.

Tutorial girl: "You can go into HYPERDRIVE MODE and SUPER CANCEL your SUPER SPECIAL into NEO-MAX HYPER DEATH for MAXIMUM DAMAGE."
I have no idea what that means but it sounds absolutely delicious.

Haha I get it too kinda... I mean it's basically the same deal in every fighting game 'cept they all wanna be special and use their own terminology.
Mhm, Skyrim basically more popular than HoMM on HC.
Really, it's tragic watching old ToHers coming by now and then and be like "YEAH DUDES LET'S H6!" and HC is like "yeah no game is dead everyone left"

From what games are you looking forward thread
Storm-Giant said: A Link to the Past is one of my fav games from SNES, together with Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country Really fun games
Earlier this year I started a full hack based on aLttP, Parallel Worlds. Very hard hack in the earlier stages, but it gets "manageable" when you get to the Dark World. But I think I never finished it, I did several dungeons on the Dark World but still was far from done, maybe I should continue it this week
I ended starting again on the laptop last week and I'm already on the Ice (Dark) World, I'm surprised by the amount of heart pieces and containers you can find once you clear the three dungeons of thenormal (Light) World
(note: bosses no longer give heart containers)

Got my hands on Bravely Default and it's great so far, although I knew it will be as I've played the demo. I'm not far in it yet, but it's already quite interesting, and incredibly deep yet very traditional in play (which I like). People were right that it reminds you of those old PS One Japanese-style rpg's from their golden era. Lot's of polish and little details (like the journal which describes every little thing in the game). A lot of work (and love) went into this game.
And it's a joy to watch on the 3DS 3D screen. With it's hand drawn graphics (especially the first big city is gorgeous), I've never seen a prettier game on 3DS.
The only downfall (yet it's completely optional, so it's not a big deal actually) are all those net based bonuses. It's nice to summon a friend in battle (or a complete stranger ), but when it hits your enemy for 1000 dmg and 1-hit KO's a Boss it's no fun at all. Thank you, I'll pass, and play the game without any help. And I must say it's quite challenging that way, even on Normal difficulty...

IMO one of the best RTS games in history (didn't get as much praise as it should if you ask me). Excellent mix of the best what AoE series had to offer, plus an original twist with mythological units. Only three factions (four with the expansion pack, but Atlantis was unique yet a bit far-fetched), though each was unique and balanced. Also, the game had great production value to boot (it even had a Myths Encyclopedia!). It's a shame that they didn't continue to expand the franchise (I wonder why...).
It stands higher then any AoE game on my top games list, because of it's unique climate, interesting premise (I mean, how much mythological RTS games are really out there?) and overall polish/design/production value.

Just some of the games I played in 2013...
I'm a huge fan of the classics and other oldies. I'm somewhat amazed that I managed to play as much as I did, especially since this year was a particularly busy one for me. Furthermore, it's a miracle that I got these to run on my MacBook (more or less). Several of them (Constructor and Dungeon Keeper, to be specific) were recent purchases from GOG that I've never owned before in my life. Needless to say, my December was tons of fun.
Constructor
Diablo 2: LOD
Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition
Dungeon Keeper 1
HOMM1
HOMM2
Lord of the Rings Volume 1
Theme Hospital
Not pictured: Lords Of Magic, Mob Rule (aka Street Wars), and Warcraft 3: TFT.

King of Fighters XIII has the tightest execution of any fighting game I've ever played.
There is absolutely ZERO hitstun, even the most basic combo needs to be frame perfect and you can very rarely buffer a move to make it come out when you want, you need to input it in a split second at the exact right moment.
Learning to do a 4 hit combo consistently feels equal in difficulty to learning to FRC in Guilty Gear.
My respect for people who play this on a high level is through the roof. Holy **** this is skillful, this is not something you just pick up and play. The game arrives in your hands BROKEN, you can only fix it through training and training and training.
I think it would benefit a lot from introducing hitstun to a bigger degree though, making something hard just for the reason of you know, "HAAARD SCREW YOU CASUAL" or something is just unneccessary and alienates players imo.
At least the basic moves should be able to be linked together without requiring half a day of training.
Still, it looks and feels absolutely magical when it works
