Quote: I didn't play a single new game in the last 6-7 years so the start was tedious, not used to interface and such. But once you get in, no way to have a life.
So, Skyrim was just a random choice? I don't share everyone's excitement of this game. Though, maybe someday I'll give it a try. Tried to play it already, but with no particular immersion. Tell me, have you tried the Dragon Age title yet?

Random choice surely not. Morrowind was a very good experience, then Oblivion did not deceive me, and now Skyrim seems even better. Except the waiting delays between areas but everyone seem to ignore the.
At first Skyrim looks good, not particular interesting. Later in game, gets much more interesting, perks into skills are very interesting, especially the time stop when you are in mode sharpshooter.
Then I got the possibility to build my own house in Skyrim, which nobody proposed me in real life. So real life sucks, back to Skyrim.

Remembered that I have some old savegames from he first Borderlands. Playing it now along with the second. God, I wish that the dev team kept the gun designs from the first game and carried it over to the second, along with the new ones. that would have been awesome.
Also, been playing some HotA on the side.

Adrius said: Started playing Planetside 2 cuz it's free and why the hell not.
It was free for me for about 4 hours, then I bought a pack for like 5 dollars.
Infiltrator with smg sounded so damn appealing on paper but just like playing Inf in Tribes Ascend you just start realizing that you're not really doing anyhting worthwhile besides being a slight annoyance.
That problem is why I haven't picked up Planetside 2 in months.
@Salamandre: There's a mod on the Steam Workshop called "Uncle Sheogorath's Helpful Hints and Tips." It makes the load screens more entertaining.

Playing an infiltrator in Planetside 2 is about the least rewarding thing you can do in a videogame. Your ability to infiltrate anything is laughable and patching has really hurt sniping overall. Also do not forget the incredibly noticeable recon tool and easily-spotted cloaking.

What annoyed me was the fact that there was NOTHING useful you could do against tanks or other vehicles except maybe, if you were lucky, find an unclaimed turret or use heavy machinery of your own (and then there was no tutorial for the vehicles but that's another issue entirely). If it had been an option, for example, to sneak up on an enemy tank and hack it so its guns jammed every other shot or it could only move at half speed, that would have been useful.
There were a number of times I slipped into empty stretches of enemy territory and started hacking everything in sight, but I can't really say it was a useful exercise--you got more XP for blowing things up than hacking them, and you couldn't take territory that wasn't adjacent to a plot your side already controlled, so at most I might have slightly annoyed the side I snuck into.
And thanks to destroying things being worth more XP than hacking them, on the battlefields that actually were being fought over most of my own side would blast terminals to bits before I could get there. Having no armor with which to slip through a battlefield didn't help either; choke holds are nice for close-quarters firefights, not so nice when your goal is to sneak through a wall of bullets and a wall of enemy soldiers behind that.

I play NC Heavy Infantry now with the GD-22, amazing gun... handles like an assault rifle with the damage of an LMG. The SAW is hailed as this long-range beast which I can agree with, but single-shotting the GD-22 is not half bad either... I get assists from countering snipers all the time and at mid-range it's just beastly.
And seriously, I'm a complete noob at aiming in FPSes and I eat rank 100 Infiltrators for breakfast. You hear the uncloak sound from literally 100 meters away and then I'm aware, which just renders all their advantages non-existant.
Countering MAXes with the rocket launcher, killing effectively at any range with the LMG, tanking through damage with Nanite Mesh Shield... this is what it feels like to be useful apparently.

Playing Mafia 2 again. Dat story. But still needs more drama in it.
Also got me thinking. In the game it says that Vito's sister married a half irish dude, who you have to knock some sense into later in the game. later, the irish mob torches your house. me thinks there's a connection here.
no sawn off shotgun, but we get two versions of the tommy gun. what the bleep? just why? 'cmon, the lupara is basically synonymous with the italian mob.
Also, the biker outfit from the greaser pack. why the stupid hat? It doesn't even match the outfit. I've should've gone with either a military beret, presumed the yanks had those in the first place at that time or with no hat at all.

Skyrim! It really is an amazing game with its mod potential. Bethesda doesn't even need to do expansions when you get things like Skywind. I also play a Europa Universalis 4, though I always kinda enter a hiatus at the times when I fail in that game. Like when I decided to annex a third of Japan (and Japan has A LOT to annex) as Malaysia in one go which made me hated by Ming/China, Dai Viet/Vietnam and Manchus/Mongolia at the same time. Luckily I have naval superiority for all those containment wars. Atleast untill the Europeans come...

I started playing No More Room In Hell with some of my friends, and the game is so addicting. It is totally free on steam and the game's goal is to fight zombies during the zombie apocalypse. There are two kind of maps, one is to survive waves of zombies, and the other is to move from point A to point B. Very addicting multiplayer game.

More of Dungeon Keeper 1. Lots of trial-and-error, restarts, and chaotic battles where I don't have a clue what's going on. As difficult as the levels are getting, it's still fun.

Decided to do another run on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat, this time however with the "Misery" (2.1 beta) mod. So, I'm not a fan of mods but... ... really, what the people behind this thing have managed to achieve is nothing short of art. The immersion level of what is already the most immersive FPS/RPG to date is increased several times and the RPG part of the game is expanded to such an extent that with the mod the game is basically a RPG from a first person perspective. The added difficulty helps you feel the Zone in a different way, similar to Strugatsky's story where every move might be your last if you're not careful. Many to the people behind this project.

Ahh, the nostalgia!
One of the greatest RTT games in history. Such climate! Amazing music, sounds, voice-acting and animated cut-scenes. Heck, everything was amazing about this game, physics (when it was released), graphics, art. And the whole premise was great: a fallen Human World besieged by the undead armies of yesterdays Heroes and their monstrous allies. When you start the game, the known human civilization is on the brink of extinction. Great feel of fighting against all odds, and the satisfaction of winning battles with as little casualties as possible. Incredible strategic depth with things like setting traps with mines or burning arrows (grass could've been set on fire), with terrain and weather conditions in mind. There were no other games like Myth and Myth II in gaming history. It's strange that the game is not so widely recognizable (maybe it was too niche). It's also a shame that the third game, made by another studio, was such a letdown.
I'm still waiting for Bungie to finally announce that it's rebooting the franchise Sadly, they're all FPS now. And unfortunately, they've also lost the rights to the franchise, back when Microsoft acquired them...

Payday 2 and Our Darker Purpose.
Payday 2 is a lot of despite kicking and all of the hackers. I recommend it if you are looking for a great co-op shooter and have no qualms about playing a bad guy. There is plenty of content and frequent updates. Unfortunately, due to the latest update (which added cloaking, 1-shot enemies), there is quite a bit of whining on the Steam forums about it. Don't let that deter you though; Payday 2 is a very fun, solid experience.
Our Darker Purpose is rouge-like that plays like The Binding of Issac and looks like Don't Starve. It has a great aesthetic and solid game play. You play an orphan trying to figure out what happened to her teacher while fending off her deranged classmates. It is appropriately grim and very challenging. That said, the game has a way to go. Enemies are very cheap, drop rates are non-existent, and bosses are tedious to the point of boredom.

I feel like what I've tried to mod New Vegas into is actually STALKER. Now, somehow I've avoided these games despite them sounding absolutely perfect on paper.
So... do I buy the first one and install the Complete mod and have a good time? Or should I go about it some other way?
