My guess is, imps will be more numerous and cheaper.
Example, pulling these stats straight out of my thumb.
These stats are complete nonsense and only serve to get my point across.
Imp
Hp: 6
Def: 2
Attack: 3
Damage: 1-3
Speed: 5
Weekly Growth: 18
Cost: 5 gold.
Demon
Hp: 12
Def: 5
Attack: 2
Damage: 2-3
Speed: 4
Weekly Growth: 14
Cost: 9 gold.
Hellhound
Hp: 9
Def: 3
Attack: 5
Damage: 2-5
Speed: 7
Weekly Growth: 12
Cost: 11 gold.
With some fine tuning, those might be reasonably balanced, all roughly tier1/2 units by normal standards.
I mean compare the stats for the Stronghold Goblin with those of the Dungeon Scout, both are Tier 1 but very different in strength and stats.
One spawns 7 each week and cost 60 gold a pop, one spawns 25 each week and cost 10 gold a pop but both are undeniable Tier 1 units in strength.

Jossed. Each level will share growth rates. For example, the entire Core tier might have a growth of 40, and you can use this to either buy 40 imps, or 20 demons and 20 cerberi, for example. So I doubt that will be the case. (Some of them might be cheaper though)

Hmmm if they share growth rates then obviously they'll all be roughly on par.
But don't fret, just look at the Necro units we've seen.
I'm sorry but those are the most bad-ass Heroes skeletons I have EVER seen, they look unbelievably cool with their massive javelins/spears.
Maybe the HVI Imp just won't be very cute like the HV one and will be, like the skeleton, VERY BAD-ASS! (keep em small though, Imps should be small.)
Or maybe they are scrapping the Imp from the inferno line-up. (unlikely I'd say, if anything goes my bet is the Nightmare and sadly the Pit Fiend (he's my fav one too >_< ))
Edit: BTW Fool can I have your source? I'd like to dig through it for details on other or related matters.
And if they truly share the same pool... that is AWESOME, really gives us strategical choices in our line-ups.
Edit again: Though I hope they put in something that encourages you to not just get say.. 40 hounds each week and just use one giant stack to murder everything.
I'd like to use all seven slots in my army, not 3.

That is what UbiHole are currently working on. They want 40 Creatures A to be as viable as 40 Creatures B or as 20 creatures A and 20 creatures B, etc... How they'll do that is another story ^^

Our own generous insider, the unsung Elvin, has confirmed this. He gave several hints and members, including me, deduced the workings.
To put it short you get an X amount of Core creatures, a Y amount of Elites and a Z amount of Champions.(Upgradable by castles, dwellings and such). You are entirely free to spend those X,Y&Z as you please. You could spend X on 1 creature or spread it over 2 or 3 in any ratio you desire.

Well, tell me then how the hell they are going to tell us that an Imp is as poweful as a Cerberus? Again, the "brilliant groundshaking innovative features" of Ubi-soft...

That really isn't much of a problem, consider for a moment Cerberus' pedigree to start with.
Cerberus is the guardian of the underworld, Hades' watchdog, brother to Orthus, Chimera, Hydra and plenty of other monsters.
A child of Typhon and Echidna.
Cerberus' first, if not only ever defeat was at the hands of the greek hero Heracles who boasts the bloodline of Zeus.
Cerberus from ancient greek myth would feel more like a Tier7 creature to start with, yet nobody complains about the beasty being reduced to a Tier 3 critter in Heroes 3 or Heroes 5.
The Imp on the other hand barely seems worth considering as for military application from it's origin myths.
A tiny trickster creature.
And that is actually were often it's strength is derived from.
In recent application of Imps in high fantasy Imps are usually strongly associated with magic.
Maybe the Heroes 6 Imp will not only be able to destroy or manipulate mana, but be able to use it.
It wouldn't be a stretch to make the imp quite powerful.
A flying core unit with ranged attack or spell casting.
It would give Inferno a nice opening twist.
Imp: Ranged/Caster, possibly flying, weak defenses.
Hound: More rounded stats (new art makes em look a little tougher) high speed melee.
Demon: Heavy weight infantry, tough as nails but not very fast.
I could probably come up with quite a number of looks for the Imp to make it dangerous and menacing looking.
Easily on par with the tiny cerberus the Heroes series has provided.

You really complain at anything you can, right ? Would be great if you could be more constructive rather than criticize anything that YOU dislike.
The aim of this system is to avoid having such a HUGE difference of power between the weakest creature and the toughest one. In previous Heroes, it was pointless to have 500 Peasants (or any tier 1) vs 2 Black Dragons (or any tier 7). Yes, Champion units are still going to be stronger than Core units, but you will still be using your lowest tier units rather than parking them in your castle or not buying them.

Well A) Cerberus is gone, replaced by the Orthrus, and B), who says it would be a Core unit, it might become an Elite one.

Ha I knew it! I remember seeing that art piece but yeah I could swear the un-upgraded version had 2 heads.
The upgraded version however I've seen is armored but does it also only have two heads?
Edit: I found me original quote on the subject.
http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=33758&pagenumber=3
"About Hell Hounds:
There might not actually be any, the artwork clearly shows it having multiple heads before the upgrade.
My bet is it might be Orthus as base and then Upgrades to Cerberus.
(For those of you who aren't aware: Orthus is the two headed brother of Cerberus, both are children of Typhon and Echidna.)"

Well it's possible, but I doubt it, the upgrade looks like it only has two heads as well.

Looked more like background texture to me, it's really too light to be a third head IMO.

No, it seems they went with the more logical choice:
Orthus > Orthus with armor
Which kind of makes sense, when you think about it. It's not too hard to put an armor on your creature to upgrade it, but it's kind of different to put another head on.

Thinking of maybe doing a few of these but lets see how it works out first.
At the Heroes VI creature casting.
The Lich hovers over to the beverage table and spots the Hellhound.
Lich: "Hey Cerberus! how's it going? back on the Inferno line-up?"
The beast grins.
Hound: "Yeah! good to see you bag of bones!"
Lich: "Say what happened to your third head? the one always biting off my leg to bury it?"
Hound: "Well he was starting to cramp our style so we sold him and bought this sweet armor with the profits."
The second head dips down and begins slobbering up beer from a bowl.
Hound:"So how about you, I see you decided to get your skin back."
Lich:"Oh it's not mine, well I bought it so I own it, but ye know, after a few hundred years you need to try a new look... couldn't find my old skin anyway."
Pikeman:"Hey guys I'm baaack!"
Lich&Hound:"NO WAAAY! PIKE?"
Pikeman:"Ah yeah, back in action, I took a few years off but it got boring, so I decided to move back here from Cuba... only catch is I got to lose my tan or wear a helmet while on the air constantly."
Lich:"Say either of you seen Zombie?"
Pike:"I heard he retired but his nephew Ghoul is here, careful though he's a jumpy fella."
Hound:"If he takes after uncle he'll settle in just fine."
Gryphon suddenly lands next to them.
Gryphon: "Hey guys, you heard the rumor? people saying big'black might not show up for the first round!"
All:"WHAT?!"
Gryphon:"Rumor has it Black wants more money and they currently are trying to work out a reasonable fee but Ubi just can't afford his current prices."
Hound:"Last time I walked around his pad you literally couldn't set your paw inside without treading on gold coins, what's he want more cash for?"
Lich:"He's a dragon mate, he always wants more cash."
Pike:"Ah even if he doesn't jump aboard now, he'll be back, it's boring without you guys."
Lich:"A toast, to your return Pike and to our continued work together."
They toast, drink and then choke and spray as Ghost flies up through the punch-bowl.

The Imps are probably out, just like Gremlins, Leprechauns etc. Inferno doesn't seem to have the cartoon-ish style from H5 anymore.
