Any arty can be lucky or unlucky to get... gloves compared to +3 mana per turn? Ugh. Just the starting heroes also... some Castle gets only undead heroes, while the Tower gets almost all the +350 gold hero and +1 gem.
100% agreed.
if not (severely) unbalanced relics, then all the other smaller luck factors are still in play for others to complain about. Like one map where I had ryland ... got TONS of joiners and invaded early week 3 ... it was luck.
I just prefer the type of maps where warriors stay warriors, and magi stay magi ... and those types are the maps with fewer relics.
ps - jex ... I feel your pain, happened to me before ... except ... while I was winning, as I was gonna finish him off, he pulled a RED ORB + shackles combo when I attacked his town ... I was surprised AND screwed

No one tests?
I hear alot of people get surprised by Red Orb or some type of artifact as the worst is shaclkes possibly combined with something else nasty. Why doesn't anyone test before they attack? Always try to get a fast scout or H&R hero even if H&R is banned, you need him to probe before your main hero attacks. Most of the time you'd still win if you didn't waste your army in unscouted attack. Just go in and see what arties are loaded, give enough fast troops in the Hero attacking castle that it survies long enough to test if surrender is possible or not... if orb is there then you only have to worry about castle towers and really fast units, if magic is on at least for level 1-2 then maybe a bolt or arrow also, but still- 7 units should survive even if opponent units get 1 morale move.
It's just a normal precaution. No excuse for being surprised when you are the one attacking.

Who wears Shackles allways? I never would without being sure of winning, what I can only if I am attacking. You can throw a Scout in, but don't imagine to find shackles.

Exactly!
You have to be sure of winning to put shackles on... if your scout finds they aren't on, you attack that same turn and see how it goes or why they seemed so sure of attacking.

Wow
This an a lot of stuff on just Hit & Running. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. Oh no, someone used strategy and I wasn't paying attention.

its why alot of rules come up and alot of people dont play certain maps cus they got beat on em.
I will never play seven lakes again and i will detest it untill somebody works on ballancing issues
no h/r is understandle to me and sometimes i dont get it lol.

I never really was able to hit and run in h3...way too hard...but having read up on H4 quite a bit I have already devised a way to hit and run on it.
Commence 3 more years of crying =)
