What really sucks is that every time they release an art piece it's resolution is small. What gives?

They reduce it's size so it can be inserted in the official site, and they're lazy enough to not even link to bigger size...damn Ubisoft, damn

Quote: A grotesque is a carved stone figure, a gargoyle is a grotesque with the added function of being a rain gutter. They have the added connotation of scaring people into going to church, or keeping evil outside the walls.
OIC
I still prefer Sphinx since they look pretty much the same

Grotesque feel a lot more gothish, almost Diablo-like. And Gargoyles don't belong to such a faction right now. I would love to see the H6 one in action.

I not entyrely convinced by "Grotesque" - I'd stick to classic "Gargoyle of x".
If we see Gargoyles in H6, which is uncertain...

But this
and this
Do look similar.
And sphinxes and gargoyles did more or less the same job (guardians)

How so?
Previous point remains though . The Ashan sphinx looks awfully a lot like an ashan gargoyle

Summing up quickly: Gargoyles fight, sphinx ask questions
Of course they have some look similar, both are statues with life. But there are several differences between them, also do not forget that the look they had in HV may not be canon, just like HV Dungeon isn't.

yeah i know, I'm just working with what we have and overall it wouldnt be better if they decanonized their look
That being said, those are greek sphinxes, the egyptian ones were just guardians. That being said they could incorporate the riddle aspect from the greek ones as an ability (it could make it unable to attack for a turn or something like that maybe)

Compared to the rest, he isn't purple enough.

A "simply" black dragon, looking majestic and powerful, and everybody would be happy.
But no, Ubisoft prefers to give them following their "personal vision". Meh
I miss NWC

I too am disappointed with this one. I guess the un-upgraded will look like a Malassa copy then. They should have made Hydra or Faceless the champion and then either made neutral miniboss elemental dragons who look like their gods or neutral dragons without any elemental affinity.

The black dragon looks more like a light, prime or twilight dragon. I think the black dragon should be the un-upgraded and shadow dragon the upgraded. A black dragon would look great as a Malassa but without the purple and with less spikes. Even better if you ask me would be to merge black dragon with hydra and let the hydra act as a dragon of Malassa.

Ummm, at least it's blacker than the one in vanilla. I like it, in game it'll probably look more black

most sure, considering this
Quote: On their wings, the eyes of Malassa are replaced by intricate patterns of light constantly dissolving, like galaxies being swallowed by the eternal darkness of space.
