This Black Dragon is so beautiful! I really like the idea of its endless wings covered with the lights of space! Absolutely amazing! But now it looks more like the Dragon of Asha.

I do not know if shoudl be angry or not.
Tehy did 80% of that wht I hoped they would not do->Use the Malasa model as the Black dragon
(Why trying to make it abit more black is a + on thei size)
On th other side.. This is what I call a Night Dragon. Which is my favorit kind.
Also this i what all Dragon Cave users see.
Nevertheles as I said, the rage has began.

I think this 'Black Dragon' will be like a black hole, sucking up all light nearby, obscuring every place they appear mere by the presence.
I'm not sure what to think about this thing though. I already expected this to happen. Seriously, who actually thought they would make a Black Dragon like in H5 or H3, without Dark-affinity? LOL.
These dragons might dish out dark magic damage, or maybe have a special attack dealing dark damage. Firebreath? lolnope.

I think most people knew it will be more magic then the older dragons, but many also hoped they would make a new model for it... and that is all we wanted.. or I wanted..
I was so foolish to think Ubi would not repeat the same mistake two times.

We got what we wanted (well most of us that is), the fan-favorite Black Dragon (as Champion I presume). But... it was totally expected that they will use the previously seen model. Although the (Night)Black Dragon is an original creation, as it has not been seen in any Heroes game (it's not the traditional Heroes black dragon form), yet no matter how you look at it, it's just another new texture for an overly used model (Lamia, Daughter Boss, Wright Boss), so I'm once again disappointed by the devs laziness. And those dragons feel to metaphysical for a recruit-able unit. I mean it's good for a god avatar or even a god itself, but don't you think it's strange, that such a being is even used on a battlefield? It just feels so out of place. I know, you have elementals, angels and stuff but this just doesn't feel right. They should be more substantial. I guess it's more of a development choice. In Heroes VI there are many metaphysical units (more then ever) like Glories or Sun Riders so I guess it goes well with their lore.
To sum it up, I'm glad Blackies are back, and that we get another recruit-able dragon unit (I also count Kirin's as one). Yet I'm disappointed (but not surprised) with their form. And of course a flamewar is imminent...
PS: It's funny how they mirrored the Dungeons color logic with this unit. I was expecting they will use the Daughters model, but for the Black Dragon itself, and that their non-upgraded form will be brown (more substantial maybe?). I was wrong...

I expected that they'd reutilise the model, that's not that big problem to me.
What piss me off is the fact that they call "Black Dragon" a unit that looks like a Cosmic/Astral/Shadow dragon. I'd even accept that the Black Dragon is the basic unit, and the Shadow Dragon the upgrade with that look, but beign the Blackie a simple blackie, not that

Yeah, a BlackHole. Sucking all around him and then going bankrupt

Then maybe they should be called Darkness Dragons... nah to cliche...
Also, Shadow Dragon descriptions says it's said to create Lurkers from it's wings. It's a "fun fact" lore-wise, but how do you even recruit Lurkers on a weekly basis, if you don't have Shadow Dragons? And why "it is said...". They don't know? So how can Dungeon elves plan battle strategies if they don't know where to get their Lurkers It's simple economy
And the Blacks description says something about their wings bringing nightmares. So I suppose something like the Heroes 4 Bone Dragon's Terror ability is what we will get. And the description says something about their physical might so it means they are quite substantial...

It is said = it's a tavern rumour, not straight fact. It's just a speculation from some clueless peasants... or mages.

The dragon itself looks pretty epic, but I am also disappointed, that they are just reusing the model.
I could understand it a bit more,if malassas daughter had just some random unique model, like the dragon eel,who has a unique model, but malassas daughter takes it designs from malassa herself and giving us mini-malassas to recruit is kinda weird.
I also think it is weird, that seemingly that is the upgraded one, while the others are all purple(at least when upgraded)
So the dungeon lineup is:
Core:
Assassin(melee)
Stalker(either range or mage)
Lurker(either range,mage and/or flyer)
Elite:
Minotaur(melee)
Manticore(flyer)
Faceless(mage or range, and another flyer too)
Champion:
Dark dragon

Same here even though I really wanted hydra. Here I thought that the faceless were nearly wiped out but soon we will see that there are in fact many more faceless than angels. I wonder if a faceless can even beat a single regular darkness elemental.
Since a lesser angel is far superior to a regular faceless, there is no wonder that Elrath is the dominant dragon in Elraths and Malassas incest relationship.
Incest Twilight
Btw, this is how black dragons are born.

Wow, I didn't think Ubi would actually bring Dragons back as a playable unit. Impressive. I am glad to stand corrected.
Am I the only one that isn't totally butthurt about the dragon's appearance?
Come on. It looks pretty cool.

Well they do look epic, or at least terrifying (with their "summon nightmares" ability). But they are simply not what I was expecting nor are my idea of a "Heroes of Might and Magic" Black Dragon...
And the worst part is they probably made them not because it's a brainstormed design choice, but because of their laziness:
- "Hey Y, we already got a Dungeon-ish dragon model, lets make it a unit and let's re-texture it to create it's upgrade!" - says X with undisguised pride...
- "Gee X, your one clever guy! Fans will love it, they already loved the Water Elemental/Spring Spirit design, we worked so hard to create. Fans can't seem to get enough of our beautiful 3D models!" - giggles Y in response.
And they fly off together on a Unicorn Pegasus with penis-like tail (which has a bugged wing animation by the way) to the (not so) far away Black Screen Kingdom...

Their coloring, I'll admit, is pretty cool, but their body is not intimidating at all. It's just too... thin, I guess? It doesn't look grandiose, doesn't have that aura of power around it one would expect from a Black Dragon. Not to mention it won't fit in with the Dungeon lineup at all...

I do like it too. Personally it's my favorite but on the very least I would say it's better than H1 and H4 dragons. I just think that you people are being to nitpicky tbh, creatures and upgrades have always been mostly recolors with some changes look-wise and that dragon model works perfectly

Yeah, the Namtarus are Asha incarnations too IIRC

Only within their respective factions.
Neutral creatures have never been palette swapped with faction creatures before, at least not to my knowledge.
