Perhaps they were, but if you want to see more of this kind of work in the future, bother the creators of these expansions, not Ubi. I don't exactly see why developers should follow some fan project in their decisions.

No.
Why are you literally negating Maurice's personal judgment...? He was talking about his own opinion and you aim to correct him on that?

You are understanding it wrong Sligneris. Huge majority of the original fan base lost interest in Ubisoft's continuity long ago, and is not for no reason. Now, H7 is under-budgeted, precisely because they are not enough fans as Ubi says. And as I see things going, the fan base keeps decreasing more than it is increasing. I am firmly persuaded is not that hard to correct it, only needs a bit of good will from their side.

You know what I don't understand? People stuck in a 16+ YO game. In some countries, people of this age are legal to drink (Germany Austria). This fact alone, this number, makes the people dwelling on the game laughable.

Vast majority of Heroes players are nameless purchasers, so aside from the sales, it's hard to hear from them as most do not contribute to the fanbase. You literally can't know opinion of the majority, as many don't speak up at all.
That's why you should honestly avoid talking on behalf of everyone while mostly speaking for yourself alone.

Playerbase and fanbase are two different things. You cannot establish a majority opinion in regards to the playerbase because it doesn't express one. However you can establish a majority opinion within the fanbase because it does express itself. And that's where the issue lies. You cannot dismiss a fanbase majority just because it's a playerbase minority, that's just ridiculous. And Ubisoft learned that the hard way.

True, but that still doesn't give a small group of fans any right to speak for all of the fanbase.
I'm under impression that Galaad mostly just talks a lot by himself and then looks back, sees that 3-4 people agree with him and then calls it a crowd.

Agreed. The opponents are always the vocal ones, especially the demagogues. Most gamers, especially the content ones aren't yelling out how they like the game or arent bothering themseves with attempts to fight demagogues or "justice trolls." There are fans who like the new setting
Let's be honest. There is a huge line between harsh critique and being a "bile-spewing raging fanboy." And several people on these boards crossed this line long ago: comments about Erwans "arachnophilia," blaming Ashan or lore for unrelated things (for example: the whole blaming Ashan for spiky unrealistic armors) or blatantly disregarding any attempts to reconcile teh fanbase or fix mistakes made during H6.
I have a strong dislike of demagogues and sadly thats what most of those so-called True Fans like Galaad or Lizardwarrior or some others are. You see what you ant to see, and disagree with any thing that might prove you wrong.
I don't believe that my words here change anything, but i don't care.
I like Ashan more than Enroth. The setting might have good number of faults but Marzhin&Co are working in them. And thats good, Ashan has chance to be a better setting, with its own tales and ideas. NWC squandered and wasted Enroth, it had so many possibilities and they ruined, spoiled and destroyed it. This is my primary critique of Enroth/Antagarich/Jadame. They just threw it away. But i am not here to speak ill of the dead.

About spiky, moar spiky armour.
It's designed to be scary/intimidative for those people with whom Death knights are fighting. I thought this was obvious.
For god's sake, those heroes are one of few Necro artworks that I liked. Addition of red colour really helps.
But I agree about halberds, they're veeery impractical. They can only work as kind of pick-axe style weapon.

Actually, your comparison is rather flawed, 1) DJ was referring to PG system, 2) actually, people dwelling on 2000+ year old game even today makes this game and those people amazing ^_^

No.
You counter my personal opinion with a statement of Zenofex?
And I was talking about the games as they are now (as they have been released, nothing fan-based no matter how good those are). I.e., H3 Complete with SoD, H5 up to and including ToTE, etc ... If I were to have my first Heroes revelation right here and now and be exposed to those full versions at the same time, I expect Heroes5 will be at the top of how much I feel drawn to it, with Heroes3 close behind. Nostalgia, however, shifts those two around - for me.
Yes, I know both games have their (serious) flaws and shortcomings, neither is perfect. But it's rather subjective to do the sum of all the pro's and con's of each and come up with a total below the line. For some people, Heroes IV is the pinnacle, while for me it's dangling at the bottom.

At least when Uplay works.
Quote: like Ashan more than Enroth. The setting might have good number of faults but Marzhin&Co are working in them.
Faults are faults, no matter who's working on them.
