Academy is a faction of wizards, not necessarily humans. As far as I can tell they allow anyone with magical talent in whether they be elf, djinn, or any other race with an academic bent.
they do. But the unit the lineup uses is a human and they are mainly composed of humans lol

Necropolis is an offshoot of Academy and in my mind many of the same arguments apply. Plus the units are frome every race, even if skeletons, banshees, and vampires are represented by humans they are raised from the corpses of every race.
ghost vampires and liches are represented by dead humans lol

Both of the above factions might have more diversity if the elves in this game were not SO STEREOTYPICAL. They ripped both of these factions looks and ideals almost straight from the Wood and Dark elves of GW.
And every other elven race of fantasy minus Warcraft, were the "wood/high" elves are badish and the "dark" elves good.

I am probably wrong but I can not recall having heard about or seen a traitor from Sylvan. Heaven forbid you see an elf decide to join another faction. They have the ability to become either mages or necromancers and yet you never see them elsewhere. And we KNOW that they can become vampires at the very least from Luna in MMH6.
Because they werent in H6.

As for having humans as leaders of the other factions many people (myself included) object heavily to that aspect of MMH6. It removed some of the identity from each faction when you only had human heroes.
awesome i agree

As for the sea elves, you have to admit that calling a unit a Sea Elf is really dumb. I do not think this would have been a problem if they just called it a pirate and gave it an elf model, but introducing a whole new faction of elves to justify a neutral and a hero from MMH6 is kind of pathetic.
IIRC they kinda wanted to make a "Cove" faction. The sea elf pirate was the only remmant. I dont see how is having more sub factions.
Quote: So they now have 3 Factions of elves and (by my reckoning) 1 possibly 2 human factions (I don't consider the free states to be a seperate faction although I can't argue against anyone who does).
it's not about what you consider lol. The silver cities were made by humans and the main people in Heresh were former humans lol.
Ideg wtf was your point, other than "i dislike so it's dumb and silly lol"

The only human I see is the disciple. Others are constructs and creatures. You must mean of heroes.
Dead human is not same as an alive human. Besides, skeletons are raised from all alive creatures, not just humans.
Mages are biologically humans, but can we actually see them as humans? It is partially true, since you have rakshasa and djinns as well.

1-i do
2-lmao
3- If you cant see dark elven warlocks as just "warlocks" then you shouldnt see the mages and necros as anything but humans lol

Slyvan looks pretty bad overall, as expected. But I was at least looking forward to some green dragons...well now nothing is going to make me want to play this faction.

You seem to be arguing that simply because a faction had really boring, repetitive heroes in ONE game known for really boring, repetitive heroes that the only people in it are the ones we see.
How do you justify fighting a group of Elves, Orcs, or Dwarves and raising skeleton from the fight if you only have human skeletons being shown? Just because the artists chose to use a human mage for a model does that mean that EVERY one of your mages has the exact same face with the exact same facial hair and clothing? Just because the flagship unit is a human it does NOT mean that every single one of your 50 Mages or 2,000 Skeletons are carbon copy units.
Just because 95% of fantasy realms out there use the same cookie cutter Elves does not mean that we should embrace them here. On the contrary, I am sick of seeing the same elves in EVERY fantasy game I play. Like it or not they are a trope that has been played to death. Just because all of your peers jump off a cliff it does not mean you should join them.
However I never said that I PERSONALLY disliked the Sea Elf, I just really hate the name they chose. I don't want to play with units called Wood Elf, Armor Human, Air Griffin, Sea Elf, and Land Wolf.
Btw I do see the Dungeon Warlock as just a Warlock, I am really hoping that they allow us to have some Minotaur heroes (such as Darkstorm). And I am actually okay with this Dungeon lineup, imo it has a nice balance.

Actually, yes, it is supposed to be balanced between offense and defense.

But the mage, the vampire and the ghost have always looked human lol. And on top of that the most of the academy/tower and necro heroes have always been human
Your dislike of something doesnt make it bad, sorry for you. Neither does playing it straight.
The Sea Elf thing is brought up because it's a race and because the pirate a townless neutral, i think. At least I doubt that it would show up if it was in a town tho.
I'm glad about that last point tho

Actually I just meant that I think that it is a nice compromise between lots of Dark Elves and no Dark Elves. I can't make any comment on gameplay before actually seeing their stats.
*sigh* Need I remind you Genya that YOU asked why OTHERS might think that the Elves are overdone. I was not arguing right or wrong, I was trying to explain others views. By god though you win, I shall never have an opinion that goes against yours again, oh great Arikado.

Guess I'm late to the party with the Sylvan video, but I just have to say that I'm really disappointed by how the Moon Doe looks. I have defended this creature on previous occasions because I found the concept really had potential, but this unit just looks like something you want as a pet.
On a different note, where is that H3 Pirate town screen from? Is that a mod? It's gorgeous!

Huh, I didn't have much interest in Heroes 7. I didn't preorder it as well, but I my friend did. He played some beta and he said in general this game (as presented in beta) was okay, except dumb AI.
Some days ago open beta ended (it was short if you want to know my oppinion, heh), so what are your thoughts? What've you said to somebody who did not play beta (as me) about the game itself? Is it good, does it have "that-old-Heroes" feel?

Theoretically a fact that they are independent from Sylvan Elves and Dark Elves. For me, Sea Elves are just elves that like sailing. They aren't important enough to be called a race. They are more like a clan.
