good overall, but there are somethings bugging me: whats kind of weapon is skeleton using? it looks retardishly too-curvy to backwards.
He got a sickle. Some unit in Necro's elite will get a hammer. You know what that means... COMMUNIST PROPAGANDA!11111!one1!one
Lol no. It's (yes i will from now on refer to skeleton as "it") got something which strongly resembles scimitar. It's very curved, but not outside of realm of believability. Plus It's holding it at an angle, which means it only looks this way because of perspective.

Actually, it's really a sickle, but with a modified hilt. And Skeletons wield them in unusual way like a scimitar, but if you flip it over, it's definitely sickle.
I don't think such a weapon really exists.

this is what a curvy sword looks like, a "yatağan" sword. turkish type, my ancestors sword, a frequently used sword type in anatolia.
and this is what a sickle looks like. everyone knows this one.
skeletons weapon is going backwards like a curvy sword but too much curvy that it is almost looks like a sickle.
the problem is, why its going backwards if its this much curvy? or should i say, why it is this much curvy if it is a sword?
to me, this weapon is a fail design and needs to be reworked.

If you think only slightly curved swords were realistic, think again.
Maybe Ethiopian shotel then? It's double edged and have similar curve, that the one skeleton uses. I think this is most likely it...
I'm sorry but I have a hard time beliving it would be a sickle or moded scyte ... that's just silly, sickle is far to weak to be used in serious combat

@Zombi_Wizzard
didnt know that one.. it seems like skeletons weapon is based on this... with too much distortion.
skeletons weapon goes too much backwards. if you noticed, a sword should never go curve that much backwards(think like we draw a vertical line between hilt-top).

well it is holding sword "towards the camera" hence the curve ... I hope atleast . I guess it will be known when we see full 3D model.

And so we get a first glimps at Necro units, eh? I like sceletons, ghosts are ok, and spiders are fine as well. Glad they didn't do the greenfest again

Necro impressions thus far: mixed with a lean towards positive.
Ghosts are more or less the same, so neutral aside from "H6's design was pretty good to begin with." Spiders are intriguing and I look forward to their full reveal. Like most, however, I'm more split are the skeletons.
Part of it stems from my preference to "bare" skeletons. The older game "Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim" ingrained in me the notion that a skeleton's greatest strength is its high ranged evasion, since most arrows would pass right through. Armouring them up takes away that whole advantage, at least in my eyes.
But okay, let's roll with it. Let's also accept that the skelies are melee and not the extra OP ranged horde. The only issue I have beyond that are the silly spider leg projections; no tears would be lost if those were clipped off.
Still, aside from those three personal hangups, I think it looks okay.

Hello I do not know about you guys, but I am really bothered by the pale colours of units. So I decided to play with them a bit... In the end I changed the colours, because I could not do anything with them... Yeah, I must say that I do not know how to work with pictures, my photoshop skills suck, I just tweaked hue, saturation, brightness and contrast of the pictures to get this:

Shotel is significantly bigger and has another hilt. More importantly, it's wielded as a sickle and used to avoid shields.

I like way better the skeleton. Like you, I think dark brown/yellow would fit better Ashan Necro.

Anyone else already getting used to the skelie's spider leg ornaments? Despite my early misgivings, I'm almost starting to like them...

@Lizard
Yes, that! Simplicity is sometimes the best. For example, that could be an upgraded version and be called Skeleton General or something. Undead are undead, they should be rusty and stuff. Not every unit has to be a glowing avatar of warcraft.
Something like this, minus the fungus, lol.

so, thoughts.
skeleton is too ornamental. are they supposed to be the standard troop raised in the thousands or higly trained, elite guards? the ornamental armor suggests the latter. also, cut off those spikes. sword is strange, i agree, but i can't quite discard it yet: i think it looks pretty cool and i'm sure there is some reason for it to curve all the way backwards, though i sure as snow can't figure it out...
on small thing though: curved swords are good for cutting and as such are not the best at piercing armor. has anyone seen another creature not covered in it? i mean sure, acolyte and chaplain, but they're not supposed to see melee combat. just a thought...
don't have a huge problem with the ghost. i prefer the robed skeleton in h3, but nothing too bad about this one. a bit monochrome but that's it.
spider is the (he) big one here. i won't go in on how it might not even be a spider, but aside from that: what's up with those legs and... are those claws? seriously? remove those weird knees and claws and make it hairy. about it really.
otherwise i really like it. nice direction, if a bit misguided. overall a good lineup so far

Necro line-up
That's my slightly revised Necro line-up. The major change is the Zombie's return, and moving Ghosts to Elite. Opinions please?
Core:
Skeleton- Your main damage dealer, little bit fragile but that's
all.
Zombie- Zombies form the bulk of your army, serving as the ultimate meatshield. Their damage and speed are quite low, but they're resilient and most importantly- every living unit they kill becomes a Zombie and stays with you after the battle (like the old Ghosts ability). Ultimately, you use them to drag out the battle while your more powerful units and hero spells finish off the enemy.
Crypt Spider- Your most powerful Core unit, with useful debuffs like webbing and poison.
Elite:
Vampire- The familiar unit with familiar abilities. Nosferatu look returns.
Lich- The Necro's only ranged unit (like in H3). A spellcaster with death cloud.
Grave Maiden- The Necro's second flier. More of a debuffer.
Champion:
Elder One- Related to the Void Cult- a winged, multi-eyed tentacled horror. Average stats, but very powerful debuff abilities (plays simialrly to the old Bone/Ghost Dragons).
Wraith- A blend of the old Wraith and Dread Knights. Damage dealer with an ability similar to Death Stare, but weak for a Champion (but also cheaper).
