Remember this?
And it comes with green goo too! [sorry for the small image]

Maybe its a callback to H1

Hi!
I think i have reached a breakthrough in the matter of the townscreens. By simply squeezing the townscreen images from the sides we are able to correct most of the perspective issues and make them look much more crowded and town like. No more too separated buildings and lack of actual town spirit.
Only thing left to decide is the amount of squeezing. Obviously there is a limit to this. In the image below I have demonstrated the effects of an excessive squeezing:
So we must find the sweet spot for this method. I have approached the problem with a mathematical solution. By applying the “Fibonacci sequence” that appears all over in the world of nature we can find our way to the “Golden ratio”-rule of visual aesthetics. Below is the analytical and graphical form if the Fibonacci sequence. The golden rule is visually very impressive, as can be noticed from the real life example below.
By adding the golden rule vector to the original townscreens and squeezing them accordingly we are able to achieve some very nice looking and balanced landscapes.
The key to this is method is to let your eyes rest on the squeezed images for a while and then go back to the original ones and the effects of our work should be clearly noticeable.
So what do you guys think? Should we contact the team and get this in the game? We might need to sacrifice so other game mechanics or features from getting in the game (like simultaneous turns or new necropolis models), but wouldn’t it all be worth it in the end?

not sure about compressing the current art, but I'd totally sacrifice some of the superfluous garbage of the game like say a campaign, the expensive campaign cutscenes, the "funny" animations, or the voice acting in exchange for redone town screens
not gameplay features like sim turns though, forget that lol

Hehe yeah well my entire post was pretty much nonsense to begin with Just a silly idea that didnt seem to leave me alone before i'd write it down
But i agree with you, i would gladly give up the campaign and cutscenes and all that to get awesome townscreens, creatures, factions, heroes and a RMG.
To be honest i have never played a single campaing in any heroes game... To me HOMM is just hotseat games and to make them fun we need balanced factions (many of them), creatures, interesting heroes and skills and the mapgenerator. All the "story" and "lore" will be created while playing the hotseat games At least thats what happens when i play.. i have no idea about the proper lore, but i will come up with my own versions and stories for heroes and creatures depending on the circumstances and so on..
I would even go as far as dropping the whole 3D thing and getting some majestic 2D adventure maps etc...

+1
And about your townscreen idea. May I suggest compressing the image until it is no wider than say, a strand of hair ? it will be much harder to notice all the faults in the townscreens

My 50 cents
Are also voicing over towards uniqueness and embellishment, to make these huge clumsy military camps they call town screens, look like towns - or kingdom even; if you look in the prospect that in some maps, yours might be the only town around.
I can't stand the way it's being mixed H6's lack of interest with H4's lack of creativity on those TSs. Really, using the same pattern (everything positioned in the same way; always surrounded by an abyss - population would love living like that - but wait, what population?; all buildings cluttered randomly about; *sigh*), lack of town feeling (you only see military. If they don't fight for people, who they fight for? A lunatic baboon ruling an imaginary kingdom?), lack of uniqueness and proper identity (they rely mainly on a bunch of architecture patterns and color coding, but it looks only like an ordinary camp built by a fussy Elton John looking architect), lack of integration with the surroundings and landscape when regarding creature dwellings (every unit seem to have a building as a hiring place. There's no lair of this, cave of that, waterfall of another. You'll always find a house of this, a pyramid of that, a cottage of another - it makes sense for humans, but for the other line ups, it doesn't).
And as stated, would love trading all these useless funny animations, overdetails of units (units we'll be seeing at close range a couple of times, then we won't be zooming the next thousand of times), useless animations (units taking 3-4-5-6 seconds to perform an attack, or cast a spell - good Christ, I do hope we can speed up or cut these animations if we prefer), useless cut-scenes, 3D townscreens.
I would really love seeing a well designed 2D townscreen, animated, lively. Going about it in 3D motion is another useless thing, consuming system requirements when it does not need to. But give us towns, unique ones, with proper identity, with live, with inhabitants beyond military, with some - as a lack of another word- proper love.

There are thousands of members who've never shown their faces to these forums in about a whole decade or so(10 years). I am trying to keep quite a low profile for some time now.
There is a high probability that a lot of these aging players, such as myself BTW, might have naturally or by pure accident, died since the start of the existence of the Might and Magic: Heroes Series. Being 6 foot under into this world brings you the lowest of low in profiles if, you get my drift, here.
Back to the topic of the discussion is that I find that the towns will have plenty of civilian dwellings for the factions that really needs some. In other words, the living need shelter from the weather not, the evil or undead. The undead and evil rise their armies for one purpose only, to attack all other factions that are still the pure living type or dark underground dwelling types that still has a true heart beat into their bodies.

Well yes. They just must start building those condos in Haven and Academy, because the mayor simply forgot to add any in the Director Plan. And someone must simply fire the Elton-Jonh-looking architect hired to design Necropolis.
