I don't think that new dwellings positions are any better but by adding creatures at townscreen you really improved it.
oh, it is, i didn't see that, i was looking at the names from this picture THIS
well people said it doesn't make sens that centaur dwelling is so high when wyvern nest is on the ground, there is also brute on the picture if you squint, i wanted to add behemoth also but it would be tiny or too big to fit into his dwelling

Hm, I think it has some sense, Minastir. They are archers, are they not? Better being up above shooting than on the ground, no? At least in a defending-town-sort-of-idea.

I know he said that, but come on, everyone with a bit of common sense in his gut can design a better town setup than what we have seen so far.
You don't have to be a real architect to understand fundamental layout and design issues with regards to towns and how they function.

Considering many issues I find trouble to see whether it is Ubisoft or the creative vision which is to blame. I tend to think probably both. But if I continue writing I should get going to the scrapping Ashan thread and also implement the part about scrapping Ubisoft.

Not to defend the TS, because it's as non-sensical as the others, but Outpost kinda implies they live there. In fact, all of the centaurs dwelling do.

To be fair I'm certain he would've have hired only the best,
if not for the humble budget his Ubi Overlords bestowed upon him & this franchise.

That's not what I meant. It was implied that the Centaurs use that elevated position in the outpost to defend it from attackers. It's their work, after all - to which I asked, if they live (in their specific dwelling within the outpost) where they work (in the specific spot within the outpost).

Agreed, it has nothing to do with being and architect and everything to do with having an artistic vision for the townscreen and combining that with common sense.

I have seen a number of town plans in my studies but really, who cares? You do not need historical accuracy, just imagination and planning. The current town screens do not give the impression of a town being developed from scratch but rather a collage of buildings pasted over a landscape. Fit-them-all-in-one-screen kind of thing.

I'm also in the opinion of not having architect not being an excuse of whichever lack of 'planing' they might have. What's lacking in there seems to be sense and a bit of creativity, imho.
They also look tied with the idea that all units must have a built house to live in and be hired from there. I ask again: where are the nests, lairs, caves, waterfalls, woods, grottoes, chasms and other natural places in which those units could come from? I'm almost expecting them to make, in Dungeon, a dwelling called Dragon Cottage where you can hire Black Dragons.

Iirc it was a bigass dragon statue in H5-6, so you are kinda there. Ignoring that, its kinda hard to snow up the dungeon townscreen placement wise since its the ceiling hanging city. If they dont screw perspective it should look good.

One question come to my mind - where is fresh water reservoir in Saaharian Stronghold? Enrothian towns had rivers, Krewlodian had fountain at Town Hall, Stronghold from Axeoth and Raanar Steppes also have access to river...
Only Saahar Orcs are so stupid to build a city in the middle of desert without any fresh water around?
