Other then Hydra or Faceless, no, not realy. Red Dragons perhaps, but that would be Dragon overkill.
And I disagree with you regarding Hydra fitting Sanctuary more. Like I told Alex, Hydra and other potential (HIII Fortress) Swamp Creatures are gonna turn it into a similar Hybrid disaster as Infernopolis was.
Oh, maybe it could be that Dinosaur thing the Warlocks rode around on in HeroesV.

Sanctuary is not heroes III fortress. It just isn't.

That is more or less the case. Manticore are creatures that got corrupted by Darkness nodes. Which is why the get along well with the DElves.
Wizards tried to use them as the basis of realy powerfull beastmen, but they proved very unstable and died to their own poison. However, that did not prevent Necromancers from ressurecting them. Since Undead cannot be poisoned, Lamasu proved very usefull to the Necromancers.

The is indeed an Compendium called: The World of Might & Magic. It's still buyable.
The Lamasu/Manticore lore is stricktly ingame descriptions.

I'd like to see the Medusas back in Dungeon, H3-style. I think they were too colorful in H6 (which fit Sanctuary, though), but I like them more dark and creepy.

Well, aren't Faceless cool?
My humble opinion is that the children of Malassa have to return somehow, no matter if they are to be a champion unit, an elite unit or even heroes
As you may have noticed, they are somewhat my favorites when it comes to Dungeon...

I, too, hope for faceless coming back, as they wee pretty awesome and stuff. Also, if we have faceless as a unit in Dungeon, and later get Fortress and Sanctuary, we will have all 6 first races in one game

I will be genuinely upset when (not if) Dungeon wins. I like my demons and we don't need one third of the factions to consist of elves.

I think in Ashan, medusas don't fit into Dungeon at all. They are nagas, after all
