Wasting no time, Elena dug into everything in front of her in what could only be described as ferocity even hounds would scoff at. Eating utensils were barely looked at.

The feast lasted longer than Drago expected.
It was nice though, as the Iron Clan showed every bit of hospitality they can muster.
The evening went on with eating, drinking, music, stories and epics from distant past, and the occasional loud and echoing belch of Magnus and the other dwarves. Only Rennar managed to stay away from this silly contest, but only briefly.
Amongst the guests Drago seemed catch to glimpse the white robed elder who introduced himself as Parkkun. When Drago looked around to find him again, there was no sign of him. Indeed, just as legends told, the gods walk the realm amongst the mortal kind.
Few days had passed, and the company resumed it's march. Loaded with many goods given to them by Magnus' clan it was only a few days untill they reach North Shandra.

- not in this time of year- Drago responded- and even in winter, there was little snow, if any at all. Only the peaks of the mountain range were white. Maybe the snow will increase as we go further north.- Dragomir pondered.
The winters in Merinanth weren't the most vicious, and most of the time the farmlands yielded two harvests a season.

- Another Leqina adept?- Drago asked Elena.- Could prove useful. Perhaps the Duchess can be of some assistance in this regard. Because we lost all our magic mirrors, and I'm not sure whether anyone scavenged a shard of it or not. And to answer your question, yes, it'll take us deep into the north.

The days flown quickly, and the company found itself in the city of Kunn, Dragomir's place of birth, as well as the capital of North Shandra. The company had allowed to settle inside the walls of the city. around it you could see vineyards and fruit orchards up to the horizon. There were many distilleries and breweries as well. The city guard was scarce, and there few of the knights errant leaving the city, by the time the Brotherhood came in.
Dragomir took Elena to the castle-palace of the duchess. After listening to their request, she happily obliged to use her magic mirror.

-I... Had to maintain some secrets to protect my former allies... Of course...- -Yeah, sure...- She laughed, and then gently slapped him.
-So... Does that mean I can go to the tavern?- Said Francis smiling, so Guinevre answered: -If I'm going with you I don't see why not.-

-All right then, let's go...- He said with a defeated tone.

Dragomir left Elena in the mage's chamber so she could contact her friend in private. Upon returning to the main hall, he found one of the knights errant waiting for the duchess, who was away for the time being. He had some resemblance to Dragomir, although he still had both his eyes and was a clean shaven lad. He was no more than 25. He noted Dragos sword. The amber on the hilt and pommel glowed a bit.
- Pray tell good ser- he began- Where you got this blade?
- Inherited from my father.- Dragomir replied. The answer however did not appeared to have satisfied the young knight.
- LIES!- He yelled.- You stole it from House Sapell, and now you're going to pay for it!- He unsheathed his own blade and dashed at Dragomir. He dodged the blow and unsheathed both his sword and kindjal. He readied for defense. Drago parried the few blows, and purposely tripped the knight.
- My father was Taruss of House Sapell.- Dragomir replied as the knight got up, mumbling something under his nose.- I'm his only son. As tradition dictates, the sword is inherited by the eldest son of the former wielder.- Drago said in a calm manner
The knight got up. he was angry, and again charged at Dragomir. His armor was a bit too cumbersome to fight a lightly armored oponent, so Drago repeated what he did earlier, repelled his strikes and tripped him. this time the knight dropped his sword and tumbled down the hall. By that time the Duchess had returned to the main hall. She was a middleaged woman, yet retained her charm. she wore a plain, but at the same time exquisite blue silk dress.
- Captain? What's going on here?- She asked Drago.
- This, I guess cousin of mine, claims that I stole my own family's sword.- He replied, again calmly.
The Duchess laughed.
- Oh is that so..?- She said looking at the knight.- Cease this Garet! At once!
- This isn't over!- The knight said as he picked up his sword and stormed off.
- Well, he's just like uncle- Dragomir said, to himself mostly.- My lady, there is one thing I forgot to mention.- He took out the writ out of his coat's inside pocket, and handed it to the duchess. She carefully read it.
- Oh, I heard the plight of his grace- The duchess said.- Of course, We'll help the revered company in it's quest. Although I cannot guarantee for your kin Lord Dragoheart.
- Not to worry. If they force their hand at me or my brothers, I will not stand idle.
- Just as the writ says...- The duchess said. she ringed a bell, and cupbearer with a platter soon walked in.
- Woould you like a drink Captain?- The Duchess offered.
Dragomir accepted the cup.
- Tell me, what was my uncle up to these days?
- Oh, nothing too upstarty... just fed everyone lies about your father and his supposed theft... Tried to wrestle your relic from your father from what I've heard.
Drago's face suddenly darkened. This wasn't good. although he did not wanted to resort yet.
Dragomir kept the conversation going, waiting for Elena to finish up.

With a minor surge of power and mental instructions for where the one she wished to speak to, Elena eventually managed to make contact with another mirror, the one she was hoping for back in her old home. Before long someone answered her and she recognized one of her old teachers, Lee (an old man with a thin black beard), and quickly asked for Shu. With a bit of explaining, he finally went to get her and they could speak and Elena explained the situation.
"...so if i get this straight, you're with some mercenary band looking for some long lost treasure that might cure a king? And this thing is supposedly far up to the north where there will be ice and snow and you're saying my magic will be a great asset? There is also, because of there is, no guarantee of success and any one who has tried before have vanished? Sounds like fun. Might i speak with your commander? I wish to see if some sort of arrangement can be struck."
"Yeah, just hold on" Elena said, walking out in search of Dragomir.

Francis hoped to gather some interesting rumors in the tavern, but, apparently he chose the wrong place. He and Guinevre entered and took a seat, Francis ordered some beer and then started trying to do some small talk, but, both because Guinevre was there and because the people there were pretty suspicious they started ignoring him.
As Francis was getting ready to leave some men started doing what Francis feared would happen, especially because one of them got up.
-Hey you! Pretty gal! Why don't you come over here? This man needs some love! AHA!- A man shouted from his seat -Oh! A lass! Here of all places, ignore him I'm the gentleman you're looking for!- Another said while laughing, one was so bold to even approach Guinevre and say: -Oh, you look cute, mind if I haul you home?-
Francis, who was getting rather fed up by the screaming and particularly annoyed by that man's manners went up to him and said: -So, a particularly drunk man wishes to take a lady with him? I can't say I'm surprised...- to which the man responded: -And who is this, your little bodyguard?- Francis then answered: -I think I'm a little to well dressed and mannered to be compared to a man of that profession, don't you think villain?- the man got pretty angered: -Oh, is that so little guy? You don't want yer little girlfriend to be away from me? Too bad, I'm taking her to my home!- And so he punched Francis to the face.
Francis got up and said: -Well, not bad for a buffoon, but I'm not a man that trades blows with lowlife... But I can certainly make an exception today!- Francis took a mug and threw it at the man, and then kicked right in the groin...
The man wasn't really satisfied by that, so he took Francis and threw him on a table, meanwhile a crowd was forming around them, some men were ready to intervene in the absurd event the little boy would win, little did they know some were alerting the guards regarding the fight.
The man watched Francis for a moment, then turned to his friends and shouted: -You see that! The little boy has clearly failed in his job!- The crowd was cheering and the man turned now to Guinevre, little did he know that Francis got up again, his back was hurting, but he decided to do the smart thing and take a stool and smash it onto the man's head, and then he threw himself onto his back making him fall, seeing as that conquered him some time he took Guinevre and tried to escape, but the exit was obstructed by other two men.
-Coming here was a bad idea!- Said Guinevre on the verge of tears -Don't worry, I've been in worse situations!- said Francis, trying to cheer her up, luckily for him the guards arrived just at the right moment, and made way through the tavern.
Francis and the burly man were held for questioning, and were both sent to the castle, Guinevre was asked to follow them together with some patrons as witnesses of the brawl.

As Dragomir chatted with the Duchess, the guards hauling Francis came in. They also tossed down a local, most likely a vineyard worker.
- This must be your new record- Dragomir jokingly said to Francis- Let me guess, you got into a fight because of a girl?- He asked while looking at Guinerve.
- We found these ruffians causing trouble in one of the taverns.- The guard exclaimed.
The duchess didn't said a word now. It was cleared that a matter involving a member of the Brotherhood, was best left in Drago's hands.
- Get this man loose- Drago said while pointing at Francis. The guardsmen complied.
- This man here, who is he?- Drago asked the Duchess.
- One of the local orchard workers. I presume- She said.
- This man works at the local apple orchard- Replied the guardsman- He has many minor infractions, tavern brawls included.
- I see. Now, Guinerve, did this man tried to harass you?
The young woman nodded. the others brought as witnesses confirmed the story.
- Now then.- Drago turned to the man that incited the brawl.- My predecessor was very strict in regard of your crimes. Since this is notyour first crime, you'd be beheaded. But I'm going to be merciful on you.
- What do you have in mind?- The Duchess asked.
- fifty lashes- Dragomir replied.
- Carry out the punishment- The Duchess said to the guardsmen. they dragged away the provocateur out into the castle courtyard.
- These two are another of the Brotherhood- Drago introduced Francis and Guinerve to the Duchess. Francis and Guinerve of House Calandrie.
At the smane time Elena came down, wanting for Dragomir to speak with her friend.
- It seems this matter cannot wait. I'll be right back.- He said as he walked up the stairs.
In the chamber he talked with the image of Elena's friend.
- This is, if I may, a one time offer- Drago said- But The Brotherhood is ever looking to expand, and since the Mikayan Uprising our numbers are short, especially with the mages. and with the long journey to the unknown north, it would be a great asset to have another Leqina adept. The pay is good, not to worry about that. We always get payed. and if I might add, this is not just for one litle campaign.- He said to the mirror image.

"What i wish to know is how long i will be bound to this... band, once we're done as I wish to continue my studies here. I would also like to know your current location and your next destination. That way i can keep in touch."

- The service in the Brotherhood is usually for life.- Dragomir said.- However, there is more than one instance described in our annals, where various mages had temporarily left the Company to resume their studies. So it's arrangable. We are currently in North Shandra, and will move into the mountain passes to the Uncharted North soon enough. I just have a little personal errand to take care of. Don't know how long that will take though.- Drago paused.- So you'll have plenty of time to get here.

- Well, since that's been settled, let's get back to the main hall, and hope that Francis hadn't got himself into more trouble.- Drago said to Elena.
Meanwhile Magnus was strolling through the city. it was a fine day, and the market was sprawling with goods. finding nothing that would interest him, he went back to camp, where in his improvised field forge started heating up an ingot of dwarven steel, while Allikha was busy training the rest of the company who didn't had anything better to do. there were many of dwarven Ironbreakers and marksmen, who wished to join in the Brotherhood after the whole trogg infestation. The shouts and commands of Allikha were heard from afar. The Armsmaster really liked to mould and shape the clay that was the new recruits of the company.
Halfman and Blackbird were sitting by Halfman's vagon, engaged in another debate regarding the intrigues and politics of The Conclave.

After the two exited the palace Francis told Guinevre: -See? I told you there would be no problems!- to which she responded: -Because by miracle there were guards nearby! When will you learn?-
-I'm surprised now, I thought you understood it's now part of my job to talk with the folk, any rumour that can interest us may be valuable in the long run.-
-Yes, but going into taverns? And getting into brawls?-
-Those are the risks of the job my dear...-

After bidding farewell to the Duchess Dragomir and Elena returned to camp. There was no commotin, there just the usual scuffle.
Magnus was forging something, which was a bit odd, as the usual noise of the camp lacked the complaining of the dwarf.
The company seemed to be watched by few and Drago noted that. The men were wearing Sapell sigils on their doublets. As Drago noted them and pointed them out to Allikha, the two made a hasty retreat.
- I'll set up extra guards- The armsmaster said.
- Very good. My uncle can be very blunt in such affairs. expect provocations.
- What's the deal with him?- Allikha asked.
- He's the youngest of the House. And as tradition dictates, the family sowrd- Drago placed his hand on the pommel of his blade- goes to the eldest son. He wanted to get this relic for himself, and I guess he was the reason that my father perished all those years ago.
- I see. That writ can be of use to us?- The armsmaster asked before returning to train the new recruits.
- It is. I'll use it as a leverage. The Duchess is at our side for the time being.
Allikha just nodded, and returned to oversee the sparring session of the new recruits.
Dragomir found Elena soon after.
- So, this friend of yours- Dragomir began as he stuffed tobacco into his pipe- I'd like to know more about her.

"Well, Shu's a protogé of sorts. Very good at the whole magic thing without even trying. She was so quick in learning, I think she skipped several years but she was never much of a braggart and frequently helped me with things I seldom understood, even after i had all but left the tower. Did have a hard time staying focused on one thing at once, usually changing what she was working on several times a day if not more. Shu was always complaining about the cold and dresses warm wherever she is though. I'm not sure why. Anything else?"
