I don't know what it says about me or my expectations about how a final should be but I miss the negative and cynical defending. Instead they play like it's some casual afternoon kick.
Either that or they are simply incapable of proper defending.

Congratulations to Portugal.
I thought they would lose badly after Ronaldo was injured.
And yet, they've beaten France, on their home turf, in their tournament, on extra time.

It's not his fault he has such a punchable face. Weird however that Portugal played better without him.
At least there are some things that never change. France -while playing some of the best football they have in years- choke on the big occasion and rollover to the the serial chokers of the continent.

So glad for my boy Ronaldo, he's an amazing man and he didn't deserve to be left out on playing one of the biggest games of his life. Considering how close the game were, it would have been heartrending if they lost.
Thankfully they pulled through and won! And that goal was crazy gorgeous!
Funny, at the beginning of this tournament I didn't think Portugal deserved to win. Especially since they placed 3rd in their group and not managed to win a single game during ordinary time, until the semifinal. But in the end they were to only team to not lose a single game, and they definitely deserved to win.
Gratulations, Portugal!

An underwhelming final for an underwhelming championship - in the future, very few matches will stand out.
France paid the price for playing so defensive and speculating so much. With the exception of the first minutes of both halves and some of the first half, they were way too content on sitting back and letting Portugal play with the ball once they carried it through to the center of the field. These players are capable of much more. Pogba as DM? Give me a break!
Portugal started to play better without Ronaldo ONLY after Éder came in, giving Portugal strong air presence (France were winning like every single air duel on their side before that). His goal was surprisingly great though.
France also had an easy path to the finals, so I'm not unhappy Portgual won

Tourney got anti-climatic once the quarter finals were over, but a host winning a major tournament is always boring so I'm glad Portugal won. French team was too passive.
