I expect Poland to squeeze a goal or two.
Group D is played today as well, Spain must secure the good side of the bracket at all costs.

And we're in the round of 16! EVERYONE is ecstatic, we went in hoping for A POINT, or at least failing that, one goal for.
EDIT: And now for something completely different, maths!
We mustn't come in second, because then it's over. We can only come in third if Portugal defeats us AND Iceland wins its match. If Iceland fails to win, we're screwed to hell and back...
We need to avoid losing to Portugal if we want to avoid a huge letdown to end the campaign... I know they weren't playing well in either of their matches so far, but fact is, they outclass us, and Ronaldo shouldn't go 3 matches without scoring. And the rest of the team still consists of world-class geniuses, they only need to get lucky once in 100 minutes. I'm anticipating they'll score at least 2 goals... and that's with us parking the bus! Fingers crossed for a 2-2, but frankly, I don't see us scoring twice.
Everything depends on Iceland... I don't like it. At least we'll go home proud. This IS our first international tourney in 30 years, and we've proven we're among the 16 best teams, ergo we didn't qualify just because it's been expanded. And I for one will treasure our victory against Austria, that was the first match in 2 decades that didn't leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Yeah, that's exactly what Spain didn't need to do...
Croatia played better and deserved the win, too many defensive mistakes from everybody in Spain (Ramos was perhaps the worst, but he wasn't alone), too little finishing in the box (for some reason we can't shoot once we get in) and overall a bad game from the midfielders (Iniesta was completely invisible).
And now Italy in the Round of 16. Jeeez, that's gonna hurt...

Poly, that's bollocks. Just tie against Portugal and win your group!
Going 3rd would mean you face Croatia - in that case you could just as well play England. Belgium seems the better deal (because Sweden or even Ireland may come in 2nd, but at least Ireland is highly unlikely), because after a win you'll get the winner of Wales against either Turkey or Northern Ireland.

I actually think that Hungary is slightly stronger in this championship than Portugal. I know they had some bad luck, but still. I can see Hungary actually win tonight.
I would hate that to happen though, it would cost me valuable points in the toto I have running at work .

Hungary seems stronger on paper - writing that felt weird - but consider:
Our two playmakers are Kleinheisler and Nagy. Up till last season, Kleinheisler had been a permanent benchwarmer in the domestic third division. He did not get to play often for Werder Bremen. Nagy is from a club which was freshly relegated to the domestic second division, and he isn't a starter there either. Gera is 37. Dzsudzsák, our supposedly greatest star has been playing on and off in the Russian and Turkish leagues. Király is 40 effing years old, and his best club was Crystal Palace. Fiola, our bastion of a right back is injured. Lovrencsics is also not a hundred percent right now. For some reason, Storck refuses to start with Nikolics in front, even though he was the top scorer of the Polish first division. Böde is a brute, only good for injuring someone before he gets carded and sent off. Priskin is old. Szalai has scored a grand total of one goal in 18 months. Guzmics has barely played in his club this season.... And we're supposed to tie with Portugal? Never gonna happen.
EDIT:
Quote: Going 3rd would mean you face Croatia - in that case you could just as well play England.
That branch is suicide. Croatia and England are on the same level, but that branch also has France, Germany, Spain, Italy... If we get England, we might as well go sit down in a circle and sing Kumbayah for 90 minutes.

Ah, come on. Portugal didn't score against Austria and conceded against Iceland - and after they had the lead.
Their problem is CR7 in that way, that it's a one-man show even if he isn't in gala form, which he definitely isn't, considering he didn't even score the penalty.
So if you can unsettle CR7 further, he will waste all their scoring chances yet again.
I also think, that there will be players from Portugal who will be pissed because of CR7 disappointing yet again.
The team just needs to defend with everyone, the way Slowakia did (and Austria).
In any case I think a tie for Hungary is more likely than an Iceland win against Austria.
EDIT: Keep in mind you can become European Champion without scoring a regular goal; Slovakia held England to 0:0, even Albania held France 89 minutes to it.

Nice assist from Ronaldo. A very important goal since Hungary had enjoyed a few chances right before it.
Edit: aaaand Hungary strikes back, right at the start of the second half. Portugal in a lot of trouble.
Edit: What a goal from Ronaldo omg!!!
Edit: Another deflection in favour of Hungary lol
