Quote: Rogue: Rogue Captain, Scout, Pathfinder
Mummy: Royal Mummy, Mummy Lord
Boar: Wildrider, Razorback
Nomad: Desert Raider, Nomad Archer
Troll: Cave Troll, Stone Troll, Black Troll
Enchanter: Master Enchanter
Halfling: Halfling Slinger
Peasant: Militiaman
Gorynych: Chaos Dragon, Pyronych
Nightmare: Hell Steed
Rogues: here, the Rogue Captain idea sounds interesting. May have some sort of stealth ability, like in homm4. Scout & Pathfinder - ? Maybe gives these skills to the heroes?
Boars: no way here. You know their story: ORCS ON THE BOARS. If we add more boars, there'll be too much orcs in the game. Not interesting anymore.
Nomad:: YEAH, that Nomad Archer idea is just great! I wanna see hordes of nomad archers rushing everything out in homm3!!!
But... how do you see that? If nomads get bows then they don't need horses anymore, right?
Troll: Here maybe only the Black Troll idea. Some new cool abilities could be linked with this.
Enchanter: ENCHANTERS ARE MASTER MAGES. What does "Master Enchanter" mean? Isn't the enchanter already a master in magic?
Halfling: no way. Halfling Slingers?! How do you see this? Aren't they already slingers? Maybe just add some abilities to the existing halflings.
Peasants: Yes, that seems a really good idea. Some neutral militiamen will be really good.
Gorynych: OH NO PLEEEEEEAAAAASE! Zmey Gorynych is 1 single personage from Russian tales and he can't be upgraded. And Pyronych... just funny...
Nightmare: I don't find it a good idea. Simple nightmares is enough.

Currently, we are batting around the idea of creating a Headless Horseman. This creature will throw fireball pumpkins and produce the same gas attack as the lich, only it will be an orange gas and have a new facial effect other than the skull and crossbones that you see in it now. It's dwelling? Sleepy Hollow , of course! What do you think?

Headless Horseman
Kind of interesting, the only thing that I don't like is that it doesn't really fit with heroes. The Horseman was a singular entity from colonial New England, kind of hard to see a horde of them.
Maybe it could be made more generic. Here's a thought, make it the upgrade of the Nightmare, the Hellborn Rider or Lord of Fright or something. It could still be a headless person riding on a Nightmare that tosses a few pumpkin bombs or fireballs.

I don't see a problem with that, as there also was only one Minotaur, only one Medusa and only one Cerber.

True, but something about those just seems to lend themselves more to a creature type than the horseman. Maybe it's just that the horseman's a more recent legend (based actually very close to where I grew up) as opposed to the ancient greek myths.

Headless Horsemen
Hi there.
I think that the "headless horseman" idea is fantastic!
There were different forms of undead holding their own heads at different stages of the game, so this whole thing makes perfect sense! Just put one of those walking dead, or ghosts on a horse! Great idea!
In regards to there "only ever being one headless horseman", I disagree with this.
There have been countless examples of people reporting headless ghosts (not just one!), and it has been including in many movies, tv shows, games and so forth.
There may have been only one who was riding a horse and called a "headless horseman" but that doesn't make it unique. What is wrong with the concept of there being several undead who had their heads chopped off and liked to ride horses? It makes perfect sense.
In regards to there being only one Medusa, well, again, there may well have only been one in legend, but there it makes perfect sense for there to be many. Same for Minotaurs (and I am not actually sure that it is correct to say that there was only ever one...)
So I'll say bring them in.
The Panther looks cool too. Could be ultra fast.
Maybe you could consider having a Panther + Jaguar as an upgrade? (even faster! fastest creature in the game?)
And with the boars that were talked about earlier, well, first off, many people agree that wolves and boars were much cooler without the stupid orcs riding them. In HOMM2 they were there by themselves, so lets axe the dumb orcs and bring them in solo. Can we do that? And I think that boars could be downgraded into piglets . And maybe wolves into regular pack dogs or something.
Can we have downgrades?
All sounds good. I really do like the Headless Horseman idea though.

Yes, there was only one Minotaur. He was the son of some god, if my memory serves me well. But I mix and screw things up sometimes, so I'm not sure about the godly parent.

I completely agree with everything that's been written by Zordrac. It's not like we're having "Frankensteins" or "Draculas" or something.

Spectres are ghosts which are already in the game. Clerics are a class of Knights. We are currently testing a script where you can hire a spy to infiltrate a town, where he can assassin a creature or hero. And he is a mercenary too. Shapeshifters might be good..hmmmmm.

Shapeshifters could be done, right?
It was said earlier in the thread that some WoG creatures would be repainted. I was wondering if my favourite Nightmare can be... black, y'know?
Grand Elves could also be painted into blue and purple thus making beautiful Dark Elves.
I'm sorry. I had to say that.

Hmmmm... something like this?
This is one of two possible versions of a Nightmare update. I say possible because there is some contention on whether WoG should have any existing creature graphics updated. While many team members welcome the idea, there are those that feel it is unnecessary or could lead to confusion.
Regardless, I will try to make available any updated graphics that I have completed for those interested.
For starters, the completed battle animation for the above Nightmare can be found HERE.
A utility for importing it into H3Sprite.lod can be found HERE.

I like the ideas, but wouldn't it make it better is the only way monsters can go to their "second" or "third" form is by battle experience that monsters earn. This will encourage players to look after their monsters better to earn rewards, than build em' then kill em' battling style

You two deserve each other.
The creature experience script has already been discussed, hasn't it? I think it was too complicated...?
Anyway, the NIGHTMARE IS PERFECT!!!
Can we insert this version into the current game with the files downloaded from those links?!
