It seems to happen for quite a few games, and apparently, VERY rare, and my comp just so happened to hate me enough to do it to me! XD

Here are the real and today's PC specs needed.
As for MM:H5-T.o.t.E.(version 3.1):
Supported O.S.: Win.6(Vista)and, Win.7(6.1)
Processor: Dual Core 2.1Ghz and up.
RAM(PC's memory cards): 1Gb for the O.S.+ background programs and, 2Gb more for the game.
*Video Card(Not the onboard chipset): 256Mb with oncard GPU(for Tiny up to Normal sized maps)or, 512Mb with oncard GPU(for large up to Impossible sized maps).
Sound Card: Only needed for slow, single cored machines with no good sound chipset(updated driver not available and got too old to be used). Otherwise, Update the driver to 2010's level of quality sound processing for the onboard sound chipset. Realtek's is for mine.
DirectX Version: Latest DX9.0d(9.2) available at Microsoft.com's DirectX's download page. Get the June SDK package of 2010 for all older .dll files needed for MM:H5-T.o.t.E.
DVD Drive of any kind is fine: Chances are, you probably have a x16 type, anyway.
Multiplayer mode: Cable Broadband at 1Mb+ connection speed. Dial-up will certainly disconnect without any notice what-so-ever.
*Any video/graphics card no older than the year Vista 2007 was released and that of, Fall of 2007, when MM:H5-T.o.t.E v.3.0 was officially available onto retail shelves.
For anyone who needs constant reminders as of why their game does not run properly: Print this new and updated: Highly Recommended PC specs for this TBS game.

Hi!
Having some problems.
I've just finished H5 campaigns on ToE with mods. (v3.0) When I defeated the Sovereign and showed the scene Zehir opening the portal, the game said I'm done, new campaign available, put me to Hall of Fame screen and when I went to Campaigns it pasted the 3 games' campaigns together, I wasn't able to click any of them and then it crashed.
After restart, both comp and game, all my campaign results in H5 campaigns are lost, I can only start from the beginning. Luckily saved games remained but loading and going back to Main Menu doesn't change anything.
Has anyone else experienced this, too? If yes, does anyone know something to fix this?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
FP

The tradition of painful bugs continues it seems. I'd suggest patching though I can't tell if that will fix your problem.

I would be happy if i could even get the game installed properly...
I have 4 GB ram.
Windows XP
ATI Radeon HD 3400 series/ATI Radeon 2100
For some reason, when i start the DVD,i install the game, without using the product license... I have noget idea why this happens, nor do i have a clue on how to solve it... any ideas????

I have had Heroes V before and it didn't work on my computer. I thought it might be a dodgy copy and was going to get another one. Now I'm not so sure.
Does heroes V work on Windows 7? Do I need a patch or an expansion version? I play Heroes IV and that works fine (even if it says things fail on installation) I have a fairly modern computer with dual processors and 2GB of RAM.
Thanks

It should but have not tried it. A few people complained with vista but it worked for the rest, go figure. I'd suggest that you get tribes of the east which is a standalone expansion instead of the original H5, has all the good features plus the new factions. Only one patch there(3.1), the original would need 1.4->1.5->1.6 if memory serves.

Tribes of the East 3.1 works fine on Windows 7 for me. It works on two different systems. Works on Vista as well for me.

Good. It's a strange bug that one I think it happens with upgrading to ToE.

Wow Rainalcar that is annoying. Don't have time to do a real search but found this quote.
""UPDATE! Problem partially solved here! Despite not being able to delete the folder, which still strikes me as crazy strange, I was able to rename the Install Shield Folder in Common Files, renaming it "installShield old" then downloading/running the update.
Not sure what the deal is with my permission problem, or if it will be a problem with other programs, but at least I am able to install new games that require install shield.""

which maps? are you trying to open one while there are others in the folder?
Yes, I was trying to open a map with others in the same folder
Thanx Vangelis21
I also have this issue on a Win7 64 TOEE install. A few maps open OK but the rest crash the game. I really wish the designers would have thought about mods when they made the game. It seems silly that I have to manually load one game at a time into my map folder to avoid problems. Now I don't remember what maps were there upon install and what ones I placed in there. Not that many single scenarios came with the game anyway.

Fyi and others.
When I did my re-install of ToE, 3.1 there were none in either folder. "Maps" for loading games or the "HoMM-Mod" folder directly under the Editor. The maps that show up in the "Custom game" window when beginning to play are (guessing) placed somewhere else since I've never seen them listed anywhere. "Every time you open and save a map with the Editor, that map will also be placed in the HoMM-Mod folder. I think that's where the mod/clashes/crashes actually occur. I keep those two empty when using other's maps and to make it easy I made subfolders to store maps in the folders "Fan-maps" and "Fan-Mods". whatever you do, don't move the maps out of the Editor. I did and I ended up with huge files and I could not retrieve my maps due to corruption.
I agree with you, we should not have to do this, it's a pain. I hoping H6 will be free of the crazy file stuff of H5.
