Hamachi BattleLan, Disconnections

We're 5 people who want to start an MP session over LAN (Internet).

#1 We tried BattleLan. Worked ok in the server lobby, at least as long as there were two people connected. The admin and some other person. The rest connected and got disconnected almost directly.

#2 We tried Hamachi. Worked ok. Could start the game. But after some fix time one of the players got disconnected (he himself didn't know about it). We tried this a few times with the same results. Don't know what the error is. And if you don't know that you can't fix it.

Problem Hamachi/BattleLan: Chat in the lobby works but can't see the player names to the right.

Did you try version 1.0.1.5 or the new one? When I was using an updated version I used to get desyncs(loading bar never fills and both players wait for the other's turn) or the rarer case where I always got disconnection for attacking a mage vault. Tried not attacking it and the turn got stuck anyway

Of course it could be that his net is unstable and the disconnection in that specific point was random. Mine can get crappy at times for no apparent reason. Moral of the story don't use the new hamachi.

Btw what do you mean he did not know he was disconnected..? Only case that can happen is when you are fighting a battle and you get kicked out of the game at the moment it's over.

I'll try that hamachiversion, thanks. Too bad the site is on the cogent network. They and my ISP have partitioned the internet so I can't view that part of the web. Are there any other download links?

The disconnected player had no clue that he was disconnected. We saw a message about it though.

Greetings. I have two problems with playing TotE, I had the same ones in H5 before, though.
First is similar to one already posted here, the Sylvan city tree is displayed in black, the only color that can be seen is some green lights around it.
Second, a weird one, animated spell and ability effects, like lightning bolt or shield bash, stay on the battlefield after taking effect, and keep animating over and over on the same square until the combat is over.
I have seen here a link to a corrected exe-file for H5. I wonder if someone knows a link to a similar TotE file.
Also, if there is an alternative way known to solve my second problem, please post here.
Thanks in advance

Sound like a graphics card problem, have you installed the latest drivers?

I certainly have.
I forgot to mention that I'm actually running the game on a laptop.
Here is what the Gamespot "Can you run it?" service pointed at as unsufficient:
Failed: Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - No
Failed: Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 1.1 , You have - 0.0
All the rest meets even the recommended system requirements.

HOMM V is a good case in point for bad programming.
It needs huge amounts of memory and processing power.
You just simply need more power.

I used to play it with AMD Athlon XP 3000+ and 1 GB of ram and in some campaign maps enemy turns took 15-30 minutes.
Now I have Intel Core 2 Duo e4500 clocked at 3 GHz and 2 gigs of ram. Well now it works fine.

Hello.
Im having a very weird graphic problem when playing Heroes 5 - Tribes of the East. As you can see on this screenshot (http://img176.imageshack.us/my.php?image=heroesproblemlc4.jpg), the graphic is all messy and bad. This happens when I have played for a while and sometimes when I start a new game (like hotseat MP). In options I have all graphic options maxed out, since I have a pretty fast computer (GF 8800GT, Core2Quad, 4 GB RAM, Win Vista 64bit, and so on), and I'm also pretty shure that it'n not heatrelated, since I have adjusted my fanspeed, and the problem still occour even though the core-temperature on the graphic card is only about 70 degrees.

I hope that someone here have any knowledge of this problem, and know hot to fix it.

Regards FZ50

I have the exact same problem. It seems the texture resets to this blur, then I can go to options and change to "high" or something else and it will go back to normal. Then after some turns it resets again and I need to go to options to change to "very high" again and it fixes it.

Very annoying - anyone know why this happens?

EXACTLY the same problem
Also Vista64bit, Core2Quad, GF 8800GTS.

The only problems I could possibly see are:

#2 system need a much better processor(4000+ recommended), a much better Video Card with minimum 256Mb of reserved ram for it + graphics processor that can handle Direct3D graphics with ease and, a sound card that can process 7.1 surround sound output to speaker system(all you'll need is 5.1 surround sound speaker system though).

#1 system is absolutely fine.

I still recommend to upgrade to WinVista Home Premium in order to auto. upgrade all your drivers with the least hassles possible and, install Direct X-March 2008 also. After all that is done, adding a little more RAM will be the conclusion of all updating/upgrading of system #2.

Note: buying a much newer system altogether might end up being a much cheaper than upgrading/updating in time and money combined.

The only thing he would need to really do is to upgrade the Video Card, everything else seems quite fine.

Buying a newer system would NOT be cheaper, it would actually cost more. His OS is fine as it is, and he doesn't need to upgrade that. Windows XP is better than Vista anyway, in my opinion. The requirements for the game says that XP will work, so he doesn't need to go out of his way to buy an OS that won't really help in running the game, it will just waste his money.

I recommend buying a newer and more updated Graphics Card, either 512 MB or 256 MB. Also make sure your drivers are updated as well.

Upgrade your RAM. I think the Minimum is 1 GB, however I might be wrong. But I am pretty sure that the RAM is the source of your problem.

Get around 1 GB or 2 GB's of RAM and see how it goes.

Radeon 9250se is as of only 128Mb of graphics processing + can not handle DX 3D.

Besides, a Radeon 9550/X1050 series 8X AGP like mine with 256Mb of graphics processing seems to be not enough either.

I have latest in Direct X SDK-March 2008 and guess what: Now, the three versions of HoMM5 no longer work properly. And, I have a February 2008 Driver for that video card as well.

The two previous versions are patched to 1.6 and 2.1. T.o.t.E. v.3.0 has the same overall gameplay's screen flickering as the two previous ones.

Do not tell me that I will have to downgrade to 2007's level of Direct X. Now, that would suck, big time.

So, basically, I can play all other games with no problem at all except this damn HoMM5. My puny game of Little Fighter 2(2005 version) still works like a charm, no matter the resolution I am using. My last year's Wheel of Fortune game for Win. Vista Home Premium is still working in mint condition. Still can playback all of my movies as well. It is not the fault of my video card what-so-ever.

Microsoft announced that it will no longer ship Windows XP of any versions of it included. That also means: No products will be existing onto any shelves of all High Tech stores all over the known world. WinVista is the only O.S. for all PCs as old as 4 years and for another 2 years past 2008(in other words:2010).

What it means in the overall sense of it all: I will get another newer machine with WinVista Home Premium with the SP1 already pre-installed as full product(not an upgrade one)and, in very little time after that, I'll upgrade the video graphics quality to PCI-Express 16x with at least 512Mb of video processing's reserved RAM. That machine will come with at least 2Gb of overall RAM and it will be expandable up-to 4GB of DDR2 type also. So, Direct X 9 will no longer be implementable onto my machine and, only Direct X 10.1+ will be enhancing all of my graphical based applications of that time.

Please Note: A much newer O.S. is being developed as for beta testing as of late Fall of this year. It shall be officially released by Spring of 2009 at the same time as SP2 for WinVista of all types.

Nival has less than a single year to fix all glitches within all versions of HoMM5 and to release HoMM6 in full Direct X 10.1+ for Vista Home Premium SP1 and SP2 for next Spring of 2009.

Dude, what is it with you and Vista? Vista is really nothing special. It just adds more bloatware to your system anyway.

I misread his post and I agree with you that the graphics card might also be the problem, but you failed to see the RAM as an issue. The RAM is an issue.

I recommend you to get a newer graphics card AND more RAM. Up to 1 GB or more would do the trick.

Changing the camera setting to classic HoMM view might help speed the game up. Also disable cinematic camera.

Ram mostly. If you set the resolution and vid settings to minimum even that card should play it somehow.
