I gave up too beliving in God. I even wrote a little study on this, that I hope I will transform it into a book. The basicly ideea is that religion was something that helped the primitive man to explain some things but now it is futile.

Believing in (any) god, actually believing in anything just doesn't fir my personal perception of world. If something cannot be proven and remains in the area of theory, it is worthless and therefore not interesting as such.
Carl Jung explains that the ability to believe is inborn and doesn't correspond with logical perception at all - it's just totally different area of perception and cannot be argued using external rules. For that reason, believers and, let's say, scientists will not convince each other. Actually I won't believe no matter what arguments could be.
From the other side, I may accept the regulative function of religion which presents some basic and acceptable rules which, if followed, may lead to a better life in some aspect. The truth is that not many people do their best on their own and need this kind of supernatural motivation which excesses their own self-awareness.
All in all, you will never say you got bored with all this 'God'
The moral rules based on christianity, for example, are widely accepted no matter if you believe in divinity of Christ or not. He used to be nessessary in past ages, but now we have came to the same result basing just on our intellectual consideration.
That's enought of wise words for today

Einstein-Why should I believe in God?
God-Because I had created the the world, and everything else, that's a fact.
Einstein-And you created the believe too?
God-Exactly.
Einstein-What is the believe?
God-The believe is something sacred, which doesn't use facts to proof that the thing that someone believes in is real. Believe is the strength of spirit, not of mind. So if there is any proof the believe is no longer believe, it's a fact. Believe is God, and God is believe. If there is no believe, there is no God.
Einstein-You said that you had created the world and it's a fact. It's a proof that God and believe exist. So by your own words you doesn't exist because there u said that u created the world and it's a fact. This fact proofs that u exist, so there is no believe, and thus there is no God.
Einstein(to himself)-Îh, it was so easy.
*Some years later Einstein publicated this conversation in a magazine, and that was when SPAM was invented*
Just to add: I feel weird. I've written lots of nonsense today.

Quote:
Quote: 2 Chronicles, Chapter 16, verse 1
In the thirty-sixth year of Asa's reign Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah and fortified Ramah to prevent anyone from leaving or entering the territory of Asa king of Judah.
1 Kings, Chapter 16, verse 6-8
6. Baasha rested with his fathers and was buried in Tirzah. And Elah his son succeeded him as King.
8. In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah son of Baasha became King of Israel
Case closed. Mods please lock.
Well, there's a perfect proof God doesn't exist
Baklava, in that time it wasn't an official date of starting your reign, you could rule "from the shadow" 5 years before your old and sutpid father died, but in those 5 years the father is still reckoned as the king. Some histrians say the son was the king, other that the father was. In some sittuations, it even happened that two king, father and son, ruled in the same time. 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles were written by different guys, and each had his verry own opinion.....
So your qoute doesn't prooves anything. I believe extremly strong in God. Call me a fanatic, tough I'm not.

Not to be spamatious, or anything, but there's certain things I think I should let Zamfir know.
Zamfir. There's this thing called sarcasm. It's very popular among many communities and espacially certain persons. Take for example Baklava. Whenever you see a post by Baklava, it's a good guess that that post contains this mysterious new thing -- Sarcasm. It is often indicated through use of smilies, and is therefore quite easy to spot. You'll get the hang of it eventually. The point is that that post is not to be taken seriously. No. Bad. That post is meant to make fun of something or someone. It's best you leave it alone if you detect any sarcasm, just until you become a bit more aquinted with this concept.
Not to be confused with irony, but that's a completely different story.
Just so you know.

I like Leviticus
God hates barbers
Leviticus 19:27
Ye shall not round the hair around the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of your beards.
God hates crustaceans
Leviticus 11:9-12
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
God hates mixed fibers
Leviticus 19:19
Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
God hates women teachers
Tim. 2:12
Suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over a man, but to be in silence.

yeah, the beard part is funny But we should not forget that Leviticus and the other first books of Moses contain a lot of old customs and laws which are quite funny in our timeline. It's whatever Aaronic priests wanted it to be. Should we blame God for it? Nah. Don't think so.
Besides, Leviticus isn't all dumb. Why not take all of those things into consideration, like:
14:29 - do not attempt to prostitute your daughter
14:31 - do not listen to jugglers because they are scammers
14:32 - You should respect older people
14:33 - Racism is really bad
14:34 - People are equal despite their birth place
There is a lot more good things in Leviticus than bad.
