I am not sure what country you are coming from, but I would think America, because that is where the Myspace craze began. 
I have lived in the US, an hour away from Detroit, for five years. I have seen a major difference in the subject you speak of and I do realize what you're trying to put out.
I won't deny the fact that I used to be on the internet a lot when I was little so I have like...15 internet boyfriends from like 8 years ago, but I was never going as far as trying to meet people and such, a big problem now. I used to watch a show in the states about how the police would pretend to be younger girls on Myspace in order to round up pedophiles and arrest them on the spot, and I think that was pretty entertaining and logical on their part, but when you think about it...how big is Myspace? A little bigger then 15 men a night. And really, they shouldn't be teaching us that it's okay to send out an invitation to meet...they should be warning the youth.
1. I think that women take more responsibility once they have seen something happen that they know could've happened to them. It's sad to know that 12 year old girls are trying to show themselves up, but what else is media teaching them? My old pastor used to say that God needs to come back into the schools, my teachers say that we need more dicipline, but I think we should just bag Brittney Spears. (Have you ever read her lyrics?! It's disgusting!)
2. Parents should always know what their kids are doing on the computer. Even though I am not a parent, I wish that my parents would've been a bit more strict with me because I made some stupid little mistakes, like giving away a little too much personal information a couple of times, but I'm just happy that nothing really happened. I recently heard about a girl who left on a plane to go see an internet friend without her parents consent and if my memory is right, she was only 15. She went out of the country! I don't see why...and what really drives a person to do so...but her parents didn't even know who this person was or that she was even leaving! That's a little crazy...don't you think?
The celebrities and up-towns of America are really setting the example that our kids are following. I see the same things as you see at the mall, downtown, even in our schools...it's not just girls, but boys are encouraging it too much. I have an 11 year-old cousin who is the school's jock, and he has a new girlfriend at least every two weeks and roams about the house quoting 50 Cent and Snoop Dog. That bothers me. Not only does he tell me how ugly he thinks his last girlfriend was but how great his next relationship is going to be and all this crap. He is eleven! It boggles my mind! When I was eleven, my mind was filled with barbies and polly pockets. Not screwing around with relationships and shouting rantings and racist phrases all over. It just scares me.
I may be off topic a little, but that's my response to it. A little scary this world, especially the youth that will one day grow older into a new generation. What will the next generation look like? It's scary to think about, just scary.

I fear that the perversion of society will not stop at 12 year old girls trying to rally up attention. I had friends in Sweden that lost their virginities in 4th grade. 4th grade...can you imagine that? Intentionally at that! It's sickening.
Imagine the next generation. Will it be 3rd grade?
What about the generation after that?
And after that?
Soon, we will have no decency left. It started small, but it'll grow into a big problem.

 WOW!!!!! First off I would like to apologize for lowering myself to an argument earlier in regards to this sensitive subject matter. I allowed someone to push buttons that really should have not been exposed in the first place. The name-calling was not going to be rewarded with a solution or anything that resembled one. So again to the administrator (Val), I thank you for your comments, as they were all thought provoking and appreciated? I do apologize for even putting you in the position to have to heed your warning.
Now back on the subject that bloomed four pages ago. The comments have been coming in so rapidly that I don’t even know where to begin. First to those who don’t know, I’m an active parent of three, 14-Boy, 10-girl, and 7-boy. I also have two-stepdaughters that I mothered for several years that are now 16 and 18. So I have seen all different outcomes of the punishments and limits that I never hesitated to execute. All of my children have required diverse types of punishments for their actions. I have in return received very different reactions. I feel the discipline and punishments need to be handed out according to the personality of the child. People as adults react differently to things that are more visually stimulating, physically stimulating, or even auditory. So why are children any different? They are not…
One child may respond to a swat on the hand while another shows great remorse for that look of disappointment in your eyes when they have knowingly done wrong. I never picked up books and followed the twelve-step program for raising the perfect productive adult. I never received my special coin with the serenity prayer either. What I did do was look to the special manual that was left to me like the unforgettable Red Ryder BB gun. I unwrapped my manual when I first left the house at the age of fifteen. I was married young and thrown two daughters instantly. I received an irreplaceable gift from my recovering alcoholic mother. Some of us have not been given such a souvenir to head off into the world with as I was. My gift was that by the time I left home I knew that if I were ever to accomplished one thing well, it would be this; I would be the best parent that I could because I had the best example from an alcoholic mother of exactly what not to do to my children.
Some of these young writers that have responded to my post may not have experience with raising children however, they might have full knowledge of what is working in the childhood that they bear the burden of now. They are in the mist of what is working and what is not. Even though their perception of what is driving their everyday decisions might be blurred by their age, they can contest to the overbearing, inattentive, and loving parents that they may have. So to you, I thank you for all your comments and hope that you learn from all the lessons that you have expressed here. Carry your experiences with you as you start the process of parenting. It will be the best, the worst, and the most rewarding accomplishment of your life.
My childhood did not make me tie my children up and hold them hostage from the cruel and relentless world we are subjected to today. It caused me to make decisions for my children that I feel benefit their future. My son is very active and has been spending a lot of time with his piers lately (about the last nine months.) He is 14 and that is normal for teenagers to begin to separate from their parents and to find themselves in a place where everything is lost. My daughter is ten and is into fashion and boys. This too is typical of young girl. I allowed her to express herself in a tactful manner and instill in her respect for her body. Our house is liberal for the most part and is not hindered and stuffy. We have nights of self-entertainment, game night, reading night, bike rides, and all the things that I did not get growing up, including some healthy well thought out boundaries.

I can only hope that my children will one day come to me and thank me for all the blank canvas that I allowed them to paint their own ideas on, their own visions of life on, and their own disappointments.

Ok for one I am trying not to be rude but I mentioned before that this is a thread that SHE created & there will be different point of views & parenting.
For her to say that she lowers herself to people who disagree with her is Far more ruder then me saying that her reply here is ignorant.
What is she so perfect that anyone who has the slightest disagreement are imature parentless people.
I understand to have children is defanately different in views but not similar.
When you have a child your love for it is unimaginable then when your replying on here & not having children.
Jacob I think that you are being unfair on the reply towards me because her attitude about parenting & expecting no debate on it & then actually saying she had to lower herself to most who disagreed is just not fair.
This is am subject where there is defanately different views on parenting.
Not easy it's hard.
It's so hard that theres really no right or wrong way.
So there is no stooping low to anyone.
If anythang this could give experience to people who dont have children yet.
They can use thier common sense on whats right for thier kid/s & whats wrong by your own experience on how you were raised by your own parents or foster parents or whatever.
Were old enough to know right & wrong & we can use how we were raised up in experience.
Take the good & the bad & use it to help your kids so they wont go through what you went through & repeat.
Basically jacob I dont apreciate how she is talking to us.
I find it almost mean.

@DS: I almost consider that to be pedophilia (or however you should put it to be correct). I know the NVD-party (you know, the party that want's to lower the .. sex-age (can I call it that as I don't know the real word for it?) from 16 to 12 and in time remove it entirely) in Holland will not agree to me.
@aculias: I think what violent_flower meant was that she lowered herself to calling names/flaming and the reply she wrote in the first page was faaaaar meaner than what she wrote know, which IMO wasn't mean at all.
@antipaladin: I like this thread. It's good. I think the level on the discussions is pretty high.

Ugh. 
That depresses me so. It makes me want to sit down and cry...just thinking of the hopelessness that's going on with our kids, it still blows my mind. What makes a little girl want to do that?
I read in the newspaper about 18-21 year olds that are charged for raping and sexually abusing girls under her age. Now that just pisses me off, you have no idea. But then...you look at the pictures and the arguments that they had about the girls. You look at what they were wearing and what image they were trying to portray...
And you think...it almost looked as if she wanted it. It looks as if she were begging for it. That doesn't make it right of course, but if those girls hadn't led them on...what then?
It just depresses me to think about...
