my advice, Ashrah, do some "research" on the mythologic creatures before just taking it from D&D.
firstly, i think you have it mixed up, Tolkien used folklore and mythology to create somthing great, whilst D&D used generic fantasy (with some mythology) to make something great. if you mean it in the other sense, that tolkien created the generic fantasy, then you have been playing to much D&D.
people use D&D because it is such a great Bases to creatures. some creatures have been around for ages, yet no-one really had any idea what they looked like until D&D was created.
oh, and about the minotuar. it was originally a 2 legged bull thing. you must have it mixed up with the centaur, the 4 legged horse thing.

he used norse and Celtic mythology.
just because it doesn't include minotaur or medusas, doesn't mean it is mythology. elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, trolls and dragons are all features of norse and celtic mythology!

I think asrah is right about minotaur... i think i read somewhere that at first it was belived to be centaur-like human-bull hybrid.

nope, greek textile, made at the time of the minotaur legend shows!
admittedly the axe and armour is wrong, but it isn't a bull centaur.
Btw, are you saying the celts have no mythology! (some else from britian back me up!)

erm.. sorry to dissapoint you, bixie, but if you'll look closely you'll see that the greek minotaur is just a man with a bull's head and that's how he's described in the myths (for example, the minotaur on the last pic doesn't have any fur on his body).

Yep, good idea! Tolkien's books - the Hobbit and LoTR are kind of... the bible for the fans  but why we need to copy his ideas? Why we don't use new? My ideas for almost all of my neutral towns are new...
In Bulgaria we do not play D&D much it is not ...popular here, like the Warhammer, well the most "selled" authors here are Tolkien and Stephan King - like in almost ...everywhere, but why I need to copy Tolkien? Or D&D? Or Warhammer? Lets just use my ideas...

Hello Henie. I didn't notice we have a new mamber in our Altar.
So I know it's a little bit late to say it, but you are welcome. 
I like your execution of the oriental town. It is great. Samarais, Ninjas, these things fit the best.
I just don't think that HOMM is ready for oriental faction (sadly).
But they have put thing or two in the game. Like the Scout/Assassin for example. They made it very similiar to the Ninja, and actually, Ninjas and Assassin are very similiar things.
Anyway, great job.

the naga are going to be orient! look at their weapon in DMOMAM, it a naga silk sword, and it looks exactly like a katana! the naga building was similar structure to a pagoda, so that pretty much somes the naga up and oriental! so HOMM is ready for an oriental race!

you mean a thread? sure, its simple. just click on new topic on the altar or anywhere else in the community. start it off by putting a title in the subject bar. then start typing what your idea is.
its that simple
and it took me a week to figure it out (o_O)
