They are a defense faction but with the help of runes they excell in attack as well.I suppose that if the dearves are great warriors that's what they are build for,attack and defnse.

Well, runes are overpowered for sure. If magmas weren't who they are those runes wouldn't be such a problem because fortress with no magmas dies way more quickly and there is way less rune of resurrection(and other runes) abuse. Also, bringing magmas down hurt too(40% attacker damage gets back) and they can be deflect missled.. so generally, after 2-3 turns magmas are buffed with light and runes killing machines.

IMO, fortress + magmas + runes can be pretty overpowered late game.

Isn't there supposed to be somethink in the middle of "they rule" and "they stink"?
I'd rather go with the first, but they're neither overpowered nor underpowered... Just a bit differently balanced in different periods of the game. Meh, I don't play a lot with fortress anyway

After magma dragons and shieldguards are fallen(about two years since battle started) the rest of them will fall quite easily. There is noly one problem..who those DRAGONS can fall(hit, hit, implosion, hit, meteor, hit, hit, hit, hit,implosion, hit, hit and still standing!!)?
If you cant harass them in early game they become quite threat. My options is that Fortress is overpowered. They troops have good defense and hp. With runes they have also good speed/ini. and damage/at. They heroes are good with any magic.

In my opinion, they are definitely not overpowered. They are actually well balanced.
The creatures are quite weak, and the faction has a powerful racial skill, just like inferno or what used to be Necropolis, before its racial skill was changed.
Without the racial skill, the faction would be completely underpowered.

Wow what a big suprice it's Lizzy's thread again

Dwarves rule whit their runes alright but i can't consider them 'overpowered' until long late games little same is whit Haven.

Still Haven loses to Fortress in very long games but short games whit Dungeon or Academy can easily break down Fortress on smaller maps.

Fortress is imbalanced, a lot.

Imbalanced means either underpowered or overpowered --> in early game they are underpowered but in late overpowered. This is completely imbalanced because it is based on maps, factions, etc.. which is annoying.

Seriously, they aren't that weak in early game too --> they have the cheapest castles and the Guard Post (shieldguards are already overpowered dudes). I know there are also underpowered creatures, but heck the Guard Post is only about Shieldguards right?

They are just too plain strong if they have enough resources. That is why those buildings are so expensive. But this is the worst idea of balancing a faction, Nival aren't thinking straight that is. Because they can be playing a large map and they will be unstoppable (especially when there are multiple players involved).

Fortress is imbalanced in a lot of ways. The problem is, many people didn't play with them enough until recently so they didn't 'whine' to Nival as they did to other factions. So we have an imbalanced faction.

Can't see how imba the orcs will be though

1.hero attacks --> 1,5 dragon per turn (if you have nothing else to do)
2.empowered endgame implosion --> 18 dragons killed per spell
3.Multiple pitlords + excruciating strike --> dragons down without any effort
4.Marksmen triggering pierceshot --> all dragons killed in one blow (may be tricky to do though..).

those seem the best.

I can't see why heavy resource demands is a poor way of balancing a faction?  It worked for Necro right?  Everyone complains about how they can't get dragons right?

And I hope the orcs are powerful, and I can finally show those Academy b*** what's what.  How come everyone picks Academy online and no one picks fortress?

Because, like I said, people haven't played enough with Fortress as it was introduced as kinda 'new' and all that. They don't have experience to play with it nor whine about it, like they did with the others for example.

And no, the Dragon idea about Necropolis must be a joke. Even a chicken could find a better way of balancing it

As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I knew who made it...

I don't think Fortress is that overpowered...You stand a good chance with most factions if you don't let them buid up for too long. You're best shot is taking them out early game. Once you reach late game...You can give it up in most cases...
All, by all, they're not that imba. Only a little nerf to the runic magic, maybe...

One another thing. Dwarfs have slow development system and they aren't best in creeping either. Sure there are good heroes to start whit but if you see enemy Warlock or Wizard you are forced to go back to your town (Guardpost safe) Meanwhile others will collect experience and arties not to mention Dragon City.

They are only overpowered in late to final end game

They are balanced until midgame. I dunno bout late game since all my games end before week 7 usually. With multiple castles they can be overpowered in lategame. With single castle i dont think so.
