But they are shiny Well typically I avoid them and it seems that I did well to allow the ring of machine affinity since they are not as powerful as they used to be. If anyone else has matches in this version please post here.

Agree better not to take war machine,haven has a magnificent defence state, though the dwarfs are played well.

Course not Imagine 10 mins or less preparation and how long it takes you to play the battle. Few minutes if you get haven vs dungeon, ages if you play academy vs fortress 
The one who wins 2/3 games passes to next round.

And what about a Champions League model, instead the KO one, for the ultimate one? I mean, if we are 20 players, just 4 Groups of 5 players. Then, when the league is over, the two leaders of each group get classified to quarters KO. By this way all players (Asheera included ) play 4 games at least for sure and avoid to be knocked out on the first round.

You could argue that it helps taking out targets that survive with last stand 
Edit: Alright we hit 20 players and the tournament is ready to begin. I will do some testing till Thursday at which point you can start your games. I'll post the pairs tomorrow.
You've all seen some cases of extreme 30+ spellpower lately and I just had a duel where I managed to get +12(!) attack artifacts. I'm beginning to doubt the wisdom of having 2 artifact merchants on the map, while it offers more freedom it can cause imbalanced matchups at times. On the other hand one merchant is less fun so I'm thinking I could instead add some free artifacts(say 3 minor, 2 major, 1 relic) as compensation.
Of course that depends on what you think. Do you mind this kind of randomness, do you have a better alternative in mind?

I don't know, I think I like it how it is now. The artifacts that increase attributes are not that strong actually, there are some better ones out there (for example, the elemental boosting ones are clearly better, for a magic faction obviously). Sure it may happen to have some crazy stats rarely, but the same could be said about having 6 pieces of the Dragon Set (omg! ) or having Soldier's Luck and Nightmare's fear not triggering at all in the whole match (happened to me once )
Same happened with Ring of Machine Affinity - it got banned even though it isn't that strong, it was just an unfortunate match once.

What's the difference between that and an artie merchant? You don't have to spend gold on them and your opponent might take a peek at what you got. Or will they be preset as well?
I'd rather have more gold so that if arties are useless I can mentor for 15 min cursing and swearing all the way 
I say leave it as it is.

I say 1 artifact merchant.
1 major, 1 minor, 1 relic. So it's like having 1.5 artifact merchants. That way a combo set is really nice.

Meh. The test of hard skill & strategy can be in the Order Cup. This tourney was always more of just a fun stompfest. I say keep the arty merchants and let the wild times roll. It's already been like that for the majority of the tournament so it would seem awkward to make such a drastic switch now.

You are right I forgot that merchants have 4-6 artifacts My main concern is what you think on removing one mentor, amount is the least.
On the contrary it would make the most sense to have a serious finale. I tried my best to decrease the randomness and I think the map has improved greatly since its beginnings.

What else are mentors for? He's just cautious. He likes to offer scholar to you 4 times in a row just in case you change your mind

First of all I'm not in favour of removing the second Merchant.
Why?
a) This is suppose to simulate a week 6 encounter. In an actual game I think one would have found heaaaaps of artefacts (and most cerainly some really good ones) by the time the heroes clash, don't you think?
b)I see the Merchants more as a reward than an actual vital part of this map. If you level up correctly and with some luck you usually end up with the built you wanted with having to mentor 0-3 times. That leaves you with tons of cash to spend on the merchant. Where it is not guranteed that you get what you'd want from it . Often enough I stod there with pockets full of mountains of gold and not a single useful artefact .
And I'm futhermore against it beause I'm afraid that that +3 majors +1 relic might be muuuuch better than the actual merchant.
I say leave it as it is since crazy stats really are a seldom case and the same thing could happen in a real 6 weeks battle. I'm certain that most of the games here have been decided by the players skills and not by the artefacts they had.
And I'm afraid I'm not sure what this means:

You mean takeing cash away for the mentor? Or restricting the number of times you can use him? I'm ot sure . hmmm... because that consequently leaves me with less cash for arties . Naaah I think we should keep it like it is. The guy who levels up better will have better artefacts as a "reward" instead of the guy throwing the cash out of the window to get that ONE PERK!! Sometimes it's just bad luck of course but still.
