I had Stronghold and Quroq (I think thats the name), he had Inferno with Biara. He got a bad build, mine wanst so great either but I focused on might skills: leadership, luck, attack and defense (besides shatter dark), since I figured he would stole most of my mana at the start and I would not be able to use many warcries anyway.
Actually, he stole all of it right before I could use it, so I was stuck with powerful blow and regular attacks. Placed powerful blow on the cyclops and waited for him to attack, and he came. He stricked first at my wyverns with this stalions, but only did average damage on then and my orcs responded by killing almost all of then in a few turns. He probably should have stayed back gatting, but he decided to attack, only his troops was unable to do enough damage to mine, and were mostly crushed. Also fortunatelly for me, most his dark spells failed, he was unable to frenzy my chieftains but did seduced my centaurs, which was not enough either.
EDIT: sorry for being so verbose, its silly but Im still very excited I actually won one.

That's a good thing actually, gives a clearer picture as well as your tactical reasoning. Yes inferno charging unprepared is not a very good idea.

Well, I got the feeling that if I tried to gate his Orcs would have a go at my fragile army while still intact (and before the gated units came out) - I misjudged that. In hindsight I should have gated with everybody than suicided the familiars to summon pit lords. And I should have never taken dark - I had that idea but ditched it later. My Biara had 12 SP, that would have put a serious dent in his Rage.
Edit: Elvin: Don't ever do that against me, you will fry my graphics card.

Yeah, I would have advanced if you didnt first, and if you went with destructive you will probably have done more with your hero. It was a great game man, this and the one we played next (the one I lost). Lets do it again some other time.

I dont remember exactly, but I think that You brought mistresses too late into the battle. U used invisibility and wasted one turn, which wasn't very useful, cause U would bring them into battle eventually. And actually U were very close to winning, just one lucky hit from those mistresses could possibly give it to You.

You misunderstand, I wasn't just close to victory - I had it and threw it away. No guesses?
As for mistresses I did not plan to stay there and cast but his phoenix forced my hand.

You lost because you puppeted the Phoenix when the Gremlins (who were puppeted until then) would have had their turn before the phoenix. You order them to attack it and boom they're gone. Your minos and mistresses could easily have finished the 23 gargs that were left.

Bingo, you've lived up to your reputation  Funny thing is I did consider it but figured it would be more fun to puppet the phoenix. I of course knew what happens when you re-summon a phoenix but.. mental fatigue That or I'm getting senile already.

Yeah yeah... pride comes before the fall . Too bad I know all to well what you talk about xD.
EDIT: On a sidenote a thing I'd love in H6 would be if they would actually show the initiative movement after spells like haste,slow and puppetmaster in replays. It makes spell choices a lot more comprehendable.

I'd absolutely love to see that. And what would also be nice is to see the atb bumps in the replays.. A lot harder to judge a battle if you don't see it from a dynamic point of view.
Btw as you may have seen I managed to eradicate over half a sylvan army with destructive, I'm making progress Next time I'll destroy it all! Apocalypse!
