@Adrius
MM working off his frustration over his new Avatar conceled as a April fools joke. Just wait. With winter he should begin to cool off and one or two threads might actually be open again if you praise him enough.
EDIT:
See this Aprils Joke is totally epic^^. It even gets oldtimers back to posting after a year of abstinence.
Too bad you're not sharing those clever thoughts with us more frequently though.

@JJ
Of course not, an April Fool's joke never starts that way and it would be silly to even claim that. It just came out like that and I appreciate it. You think I'm looking down on you? You are just being bitter. Play with people's emotions? Have you never pulled off a prank? No I didn't like it that Lexxan and Father took it so seriously but getting so stressed over that is not so emotionally healthy either - it just isn't and not because I think so. I'm not making fun of that though Lexxan's responses did come out a bit funny In any case you can't make a joke on a big scale and anticipate everything.
As for disrespecting people's feelings I am seriously sad that this how you see me. But hey everyone has his own perceptions, I'm just happy to know people that don't think of me that way.

Come on, it was funny. FUNNY. You know, "haha, some members are obsessive over stupid stuff"? You know?
Forget it. You are neither jolly nor a joker.
No, from a certain point onwards it was just reckless. You simply have to note the care people put it into it to make sure the "right" reactions were provoked.
You know, I really was dead certain that it was an April fool's joke - up to a certain point yesterday, when things got really heated (and note that the initiators of this prank really poured the oil on, even AFTER people had quitted), when I suddenly started thinking, I'd just hope it was NO April fool -
due to all the smashed china that seemed to mount -
because you had to wonder whether a JOKE was worth PROVOKING all the heat and all the things that came after it.
Of course it is funny how childishly obsessive some people are about rather stupid stuff - but that stupid stuff is DESIGNED to have a meaning, otherwise it would be completely useless, so it's just normal that SOME will put more into it than actually is. That is so with all things.
Still, the main point is to understand that you cannot provoke "hilarious" reactions and expect then that everyone laughs about it - if that was so, then no one would have been upset in the first place. So if you pull a really devious prank on someone, you have to be prepared to be slapped and name-called - because you DESERVE it.

JJ is absolutely correct.
But I do not see how any mod is playing this whole thing down (which is the group who matters since they initiated this). Apart from Elvin and Pan no mod has yet taken a position on this and if you read their replies you'll see how very serious they are about this topic. Pan is more straight forward about it while Elvin talks in pictures, riddles and metaphors but in the end he's just as serious about this with his reply (it's just his style).
JJ you really are a very intelligent individual (well atleast I think so) but with all due respect I think you missread Elvins reply (I'm not saying that because I have sympathies for the hooded prankster who has lady luck for a lover but because I don't want this particular dispute to go on). And trust me... the "irony of JJs name" reply was most certainly not to hurt you. No freakin way trust me (it was a joke. And I think it was funny. That doesn't mean that I have to think it's true as you already pointed out).

Quoted for truth.
I absolutely agree with JJ here. He simply speaks out what I was thinking and feeling yesterday when the whole discussion heated up. I hope, there'll be some thought about this listless "joke".

This
Quote: Those who didn't laugh with the joke should grow a sense of humour or at least sense of irony I've told you guys before, life is too important to take it seriously - it is plain for all to see what happens when you do. Now that was gold comedy and comedy's role isn't just to entertain people but to open their eyes as well. I think this is exactly what it did and some posts were pant pissing hilarious while at that The issues brought up were not fake but also not deadly serious, read between the lines. There are many things to reflect on if you are to understand what really happened, don't dismiss everything as a joke. And be careful what you wish for, you may get it.
is simply SMUG. I would laugh a lot louder, if Elvin had said something like, he could understand when a bit of heat would now rain on him and the others in on this, since it WAS a bit on the devious side, and they were sorry for the really hurt feelings. Period.
But not first fool people and then afterwards tell them to take a lesson out of it - that they will do anyway without him telling them how they should feel now.
And, no, I'm not bitter. I have no reason to be.
But Elvin, he's just shrugging it off - my guess is, he has not the slightest idea what my point is.

QPs aren't a serious thing. If you think they are, you have a serious problem.
Anyway.... Can the post-flood protection be dislodged from the QP system ? I rather dislike the idea of having to wait for 2 minuts before I can edit a typo or something.
By the way, there is actually a good argument as to why the QP system fails.
You gain +QPs by making interesting posts, yet you get -QPs by breaking the rules...... Wtf?
It's two different spectrums... One being + for good behavior and - for bad behavior, the other being + for making good posts and - being for making bad posts (the - probably never happening)... Yet HC mixes them into 1 spectrum.
Why hasn't this been issued yet?

You are right it did sound patronizing but that was in good faith without being judgemental. You made it sound like I was an arrogant cold-hearted bastard instead, not nice. Hope you don't assume I'm laughing manically about the pain inflicted on Lexxan or Father right now, the moment has passed It obviously wasn't meant as take that, be careful next time suckers! But there are indeed some things to be learnt here and excuse me for even bringing it up. How people should feel, there you go again. It's not hard to see that some overreacted what's your issue? Let's not start a pointless debate on expressing opinions shall we?

I said everything I had to say in my last answer to Azagal.
Basically a lesson I have learned the hard way and over a long time is: NEVER EVER tell people anything about how they should feel INSTEAD when you have any part in stirring what they actually feel. Simply reassure them that you didn't mean to hurt anyone. Believably.
Then, after things have calmed down lessons may be learned, and everyone may have a good hearty laugh.

Quote: Indeed you do have to be careful when joking about "serious" issues. But the bottom line is that it boils down to the character of the individual to which you are pulling the prank. There will always be many and varried reactions.
Not to complain or anything but you (and JJ) realize that this "serious" stuff is EVERYWHERE? Any thing you find funny someone else may be damaged emotionally. So what we don't have any jokes now? Even something as simple as playing with "joking" things like clown or makeup and doing you-know-what may completely freak off (literally) people with synesthesia for example.
Why would this be classified as serious more than anything else? I, personally, did not expect Lexxan to be so obsessively childish over QPs and I am a bit sad to be honest because I really like him sometimes. In CH for example he does post a bit there too and there are no QPs but here it seems as if QPs have taken control of his personality or something.
To be honest with you I don't find it funny but for a different reason: I really started to like a non-QP HC
If you want you can name ANY joke you would do and I can provide a counter example and why it is "serious stuff". So what then, we don't have jokes anymore?
@Father: I wonder why you are so damaged by "change" when this change didn't even affect you one bit

I think maybe the whole point of the joke was to point out that perhaps QPs aren't so serious after all and we're not joking about a serious thing in the first place?
The reactions of some members combined with the general success of the prank remains hilarious though.

Some of us have been sending groveling HCM's to certain pepople for our (ie my) part of this prank. Guess I got an extra name to add to the list. I have no problem taking the slapping for my part in the joke JJ, slap away.
Edit : I still think it was the funniest thing EVER, but I did do some evil things to help it along. Even though I've always said I was evil...
You may want to know that most of the reasons I posted here by me were real, I just didn't overreact like it came accross as. The Nazi HCMs, the people who were acting like not only they could do a better job as mod as me, but seemed to want me to leave the mod squad.
So I took real issues and just .. put some drama into them.

Quote: I don't feel that Lexxan was childish nearly as much as I felt he was merely passionate about his arguements. I can't blame him in the slightest.
Obviously that's what I meant. Childish behavior means you're passionate about some trifle things -- like say that your doll has been broken or something (obviously that's a waay lower level than the QP level, I'm just pointing an example).
Quote: We will always have jokes Death. I was simply pointing out that some issues will be taken more "seriously" than others. Obviously this one was VERY serious to me. & actually, the QP system does affect me...or did you not notice? In reference to your last sentence there.
I did not say that wasn't true that you were serious (which you were). I said that for any joke someone will find it dead serious. So why criticize it? Do we criticize every joke?
Heck even teddy bears are freaky and spooky to some people with synesthesia. Innocent toys huh?

Yes it was serious for you. That's not what I meant.
Joker "picked" and "criticized" this joke, because some people found it serious. My point is thus (simplified): Any joke will have people who find it serious. We criticize all jokes then?
