@Xerox: What Swamplord said. Be happy in your blissful ignorance for now.
@Doomforge:

Still not considered living, although I have trouble believing myself that a non-living entity can cause so much trouble.
@Wolfsburg:
Quote: Not that I know of, no. But I'm perhaps not the best source on the moment. With the current mass hysteria I just canīt take regular media seriously.
At my college, they are going to have a conference about Swine Flu on Tuesday. Not sure whether I'm gonna go or not yet (I have no classes that day...so I may not bother myself to get up. )
So yeah, they closed the universities over in Mexico, and quite a few Puerto Ricans take classes over there, so they're coming back until this blows through.
[sarcasm]We have such epic health control here that we're letting them in without testing them for the possibility of infection. This is going to be so much fun...[/sarcasm]
@Corribus:
Quote: Some kid at a chicago public school has been 'possibly afflicted' with swine flu and is currently being evaluated by the CDC. With the amount of hysterical attention paid to the case by the media, you'd think the kid had been diagnosed with Ebola.
Except quite a few people know about Ebola and Swine Flu is like OMGWTF what is that?!
(Even though it's just yet another variant on the many types of influenza viruses existent today.)
@Azagal: Awesome career choice, my friend!
As for the evolution thing...I see. Just making sure.
(Mutation/Evolution is really just an argument in semantics in the end, but I couldn't help myself. )

Well, to be fair, the 1918 Spanish Flu was also "just yet another variant" of the H1N1 influenza virus. It killed at least 20 million people.

@Corribus: I'm well aware of that. I'm just saying that people tend to overreact (in a bad way) towards anything unknown.
Some people don't realize that the Swine Flu is related to the Spanish Flu which is probably related to some undocumented viral pandemic which is.../rant
Or, did I miss your point entirely?

No, you got it, and I agree with you.
Is the swine flu something to take seriously? Yes. I just think it's a little early to start ringing the pandemic bell, which the media just seems like it's itching to do.

Egypt is slaughtering 300.000 pigs to calm their people and avoid the Swine-Flu... talk about hysteria!
Ah well, I guess they're still pretty worked up about the bird-flu, I read they've had a few cases... like, the 26th fatality was only a week ago or something.

Started somewhere over at Asia i belive, caused a nuisance.
What was dangouros about it was the fact that it infected birds, since birds cross great distances and land everywhere, meaning it could spread completely inpredictably.
Ofcourse, what the fear eventually was never came. And that was springtime, and all southbirds would spread the disease all over the place. But since that never happend, meh. A few single birds was reported in Sweden, but beyond that it was zero.

I typed down the numbers a couple posts ago - you didn't read the thread in whole, did you.
around 0,5 million per year - ordinary flu.

not exactly locked... the school was suspended and some other activities like concerts, soccer matches, etc... but the people are working normally, for example me, I didn't even wear that masks on these days, I have worked every day normally... that's why I think the problem is no that big... I mean I'm not saying that we must forget it and acting like nothing is happening... but again the media is overreacting about this...

sorry about that, I guess I missed it... and that's exactly my point... we dont hear on the news about all this deads... because is normal... we get in the news that 150 people have died... I mean 150(150 suspicious, like 8 confirmed) people have died over a popullation of 120 millions(30 millions on the mexico city and the sorrounded metropolitan area)... I understand that all the buzz is just for the fact that is a new kind of virus... but is not is more mortal than the ordinary flu...
what makes me angry about this... that now we are being treated like infested people... every single mexican in the world... and that is not the case at all...
edit:
lol I just notice that my avatar ironically is wearing that kind of mask XD

Nah, I heard about it from a family member who heard about it online.
I live in a suburban area and am decently far away from the college (which has a huge campus) though so I think I'm fine, I haven't had any contact with students recently and the disease is perfectly treatable anyways.
It's just annoying.
And it wasn't even confirmed positively as swine flu yet apparently.

Blizzard implented the Swine Flu in WoW.
Isnt it a bit tasteless when people have actually died on it?
The debuff says:
"You are infected by the Swine Flu! 10% chance to cause an outbreak"
WoW actually had its own pandemic twice. The Cursed Blood was used by real scientics to study outbreaks and the Zombie Invasion.

Of course there's underhanded reasons for why that is going on. With Egypt being overwhelmingly Muslim, they've sprung on the opportunity to decimate the pig herds raised by minorities. There isn't going to be any financial compensation either since the meat can still be sold, although of course it will still devastate the farmers since the herds will be gone and they'll have no future generations to raise.
This is just one example of many of how governments play off of a should-be minor issue in order to please their constituents or get something done.

That is kinda tasteless, wow...
Wasn't the Cursed Blood a massive fail on Blizzard's part where some of their players managed to get the effect out of the caves or something?
Never heard of that zombie thing, what happened there?

I guess it works like this: Every X seconds all PC and NPC within Y area got a 10% chance of being infected, or Y is likely a tad over touch range. Or its already incorporated into a global trigger for approuching.
It will get out of controll if NPC that are quite essential(flightmasters, major quest givers, etc) gets infected, because of the amount of players that goes around over there. Like Thrall maybe? Every 10th player over there will get infected, the rest of the NPCs in that room would likely also be so the chances would skyrocket.
Or its just a crude joke.
Cursed Blood was sealed of to 1 instance if i remember the article, BUT a bug made it come outside and it become quite insane. Scientists watched this because, well its a rare chance. There was an article on it in a gameing mag i once read.
Zombi invasion, not heard of it <.<
