StarGate Atlantis mod

I am already done with graphics and will start soon on map design + scripts.
I am open to all suggestions for polishing my preferred show

project:

StarGate Atlantis map.

Minimaps

For those who did not see the show (200 episodes), here is the story:

The story of Stargate Atlantis follows the cliffhanger episode on Stargate SG-1's seventh season finale "Lost City", where SG-1 found an outpost made by the race known as the Ancients in Antarctica. After the events of Stargate SG-1 season eight premiere "New Order", the Stargate Command sends an international team to investigate the outpost. Soon, Dr. Daniel Jackson discovers the location of the greatest city created by the Ancients, Atlantis. The story unfolds when the members of the expedition encounters the Wraith, the race that defeated the Ancients ten thousand years ago.

Characters:

SG team: Sheppard, Ronon, Teyla and McKey
Enemies: Wraith, replicators

SG TEAM

Sheppard

Aptitudes: shoot, launch bomb, place explosives on battlefield.

Ronon

Aptitudes: shoot, double damage on melee, fear

Teyla

Aptitudes: shoot, heals one character/battle.

McKey

Aptitudes: shoot/melee =1 damage. Launch chain lighting and inferno and random funny dialogs during battles (wav from film)

Stargate SG sprite and Atlantis city (animated but not in the example to save space, got rid of the hero flags):

Enemies:

Wraith

Aptitudes: drain HP on hit, regenerates every turn.

Replicator

Aptitudes: machine, Phoenix abilityx6 (respawn)

Travel will be made through Stargates, by selecting 7 ancient symbols for each of nine destinations (script is ready).  Gate inactive and active + console (DHD)+ 25 symbols.

So far a few ideas went bad, because not possible. Map is not yet drawn (only terrain/layout) and from now I finished the graphics, and starting on scripts. Have to redo the artefacts, not happy with the glow.

There will be a specific patch with <>100 new objects from all styles, one for each planet to visit. There will be no standard creatures, but only custom and no major modifications to the standard mechanics. Explosives will work as land mines, heal as cureXstored variable (increase with experience), but launched from creature instead of the hero. Using dynamite on the map will be also possible to open closed paths or simply blow everything the player dislike in the layout.

Well, Salamandre, you can. But I'm still not convinced that you should.

Honestly, so far graphics look terrbile and moreover you say game mechanics will be strongly altered. To create Stargate scenario there are way better tools, from paper RPG to Unreal Engine. But using good old WoG is a rape .

BTW, I love the series. Last time I was somewhere at the beginning of 4th season.

@Warmonger

I guess you are speaking about the Atlantis city as I can't get why Teyla boobs would look terrible. The truth is that there is no video game about Atlantis yet, so all graphics have to be extracted from movie stills or bad 3D online models. It took me so much time to extract the city and create 4 sprites about it that I just can't renounce  and create standard on dirt. I am sure it can be improved and I will take my time. No major game modifications as I said. But even if they would be, I don't see whats wrong about. Thats all about modding.

So the best thing would be to have advices about visual modifications for the city. Removing the blue ground will make it look better but heros can't walk on water...so it needs some special ground. In Atlantis people could walk on the city, in Heroes is not possible to walk over an object, so needs thinking about a solution.

It is a starting project and many things will be changed over time. But it already offers a lot of already done things from the start, and thats the point.

Thanks BB, I have no idea. The hardest part are the graphics, as they don't lie, a script can be simplified but not the look. If I get good advices about artefacts it will be faster. It will not be released until everything looks ok. Count about <>3 months for scripting/debug. The worse thing is that ERM can make almost anything so In have thousand of ideas which will slow the thing. Hard to give up on some. And I am alone, while for mods like this full teams are required.

@Anti

Yes was a hard choice. But I prefer Atlantis to SGA, mainly because Anderson just plays bored, we can see he does not believe a word of what he is saying.

And I find Teyla way hotter than Amanda, but it is only my testosterone speaking. And the wraiths are just true monsters, not like Goaulds, which are clowns. Subjective opinion for sure.

I have a question, will you change the music? Because I think that h3 music won't stack...
Btw. Will Shepard have a commander?

I created tons of custom special effects, and they depends of the weapon used. Every action on the BF for any of the 4 characters will have its own special sound (compressed to the right extension, credits go to GrayFace, as wavs do not play from data). However I don't bother with music as I know no one still plays with music on.
Sheppard will not have a commander, but only the 4 characters in his army. He will "lead" himself (HoMM limitations obliged)and his 3 peeps.

A screen you will never see in game...part of screwed ideas.

There is no way to stop the animation at the specified time through ERM thus simulating a landing ship is no possible atm. Waiting command freezes the map, so animation does not show.

Pretty cool ^^ but btw, about the description, I seriously dubt anyone not knowing atlantis will have the slightest clue what "sg-1" is =P

As for atlantis vs sg-1, I think the writers of stargate went in over their heads with the ancients overall. They've created a race so grand, with a rather, lets be honest, forked up timeline, its hard to continue it. (Universe does look cool so far though)

Also sg-1 went pretty bad once the ori got introduced as an enemy. =( Overall I think I prefer atlantis (BUT I HATED TEYLA (sorry sala xD))

New terrains available. Standard were extracted and redone.

Advantage:

1)smooth connection (no more weird lines when terrains connect)
2) You can keep minimaps colors while placing any terrain, previously placing them changed the minimap layout (if created from bmp)

The empty pixels are transparent so they will show the terrain under, choose the appropriate one to hide them.
