No road map and sidetracking + deadly objects kill you. There's also an ominous feeling in some maps, as if you were being stalked or something. Anyway, it knows perfectly how to create an atmosphere through its sound and video effects so I find it pretty immersive. Haven't tried but the Adventure Mode which apparently isn't even complete due to early access, but that aside the game is great.
____________ Guide to a Great Heroes Game The Young Traveler
God I love Europa Universalis, after playing as the Ruskies and sussing out the basics I switched over to Brandeburg this time I wanted ironman mode (for them achievements <3). After a dozen restarts due to being annihilated I moved on to others, so used to the crazy Russian manpower that I needed to totally rethink the way I play.
This time I'm playing as the Teutonic Order, and holy hell things have been sweet, again after a dozen restarts due to monumental mistakes on my part (lack of game knowledge otherwise I'd embrace the consequences happily, but it's no fun if you have no idea what or why something happens). Things have been going smooth, numerous wars with brandenburg and two wars with Poland have really set me up, I desperately and by the skin of my teeth avoided a coalition being readied against me (they disbanded after I managed to bribe their leader Wurtenburg).
The sweetest moment came when I attacked poland head on, since Lithuania was in debt thus unable to assist this was an unmissable opportunity to curb the creation of the dreaded Commonwealth by driving a wedge between Poland and Lithuania. After a white peace with poland Muscovy invaded lithuania, and I'm scared, they annexed at least 15 provinces, afterward I moved into Luthuania and annexed some border states. <3
So far making good use of mercenaries has been an absolute god send.

Playing Fallout Shelter. Apparently there are people who have kept their dwellers out in the wasteland for weeks at a time, but I'm not seeing how.

So I picked up Age of Wonders 3, as it's had these great reviews and looks really cool and all. I learned an important thing.
I don't like fantasy turn-based strategies. I just like HoMM which happens to be one that I got really into as a kid.
Similar to how I don't like cRPGs, I just like Fallout which I got really into as a kid.
But then I picked up Quake 4 because I used to love Quake 2, and 4 is a direct follow-up in terms of story, so it had to be a win! And it wasn't. It's really dull and has rail-shooter segments which are dumb as hell.
Branching out to new things in a genre doesn't work, sticking to sequels doesn't work, I just can't win. This is why I'm a jaded old grump that can only find joy in depressing stuff like Papers Please.

My buddy's doing a webcomic and would certainly appreciate it if you checked it out!
Is there an EU4 thread? Really need to just burst my build up of many fluids all over a disgnated area I love this game so much. Playing as the Teutons, was royaly **** early game, but once I got some ideas the snowball began to roll, my soldiers are friggin elite, 125 discipline 1559, 70 army tradition, 35% inf combat ability(need to check this, IIRC there were some other modifiers). My main army has been vulnerable to casualties, but so far I have won almost every single battle, I lost three with my main army (Cannons rarely die I forgot to check my infantry numbers, so my infantry died and my cannons got massacred ). Like this I always have 10k mercenary infantries to fight trash stacks, I once sent them against a full fledged austrian army of 30k men (they had art/inf/cav, and were smashed by just infantry).
I'm so happy, playing as Russia going quantity was so dumb and frustrating, at the time I didn't understand why my armies were like paper against the western nations (plus I blew through all my Military points to quell uprisings QQ)

Quake 4 sucked banana balls man! It's hard to get classic to work again, I had similiar hopes on Doom 3 but it was almost as bad as the movie. Doom 4 is coming, friend of mine has hyped it like crazy but when I watch videos of it, aim not completely hooked. Meanwhile Brutal Doom or Brutality mods of the originals are blast of fun!
For that other statement.. yes, you are Ol' Grumpy Woocky Moody and that's why we like you!

Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force.
I recently rediscovered the Freeware Evangelion Turn-Based Strategy game The Game of Angels. I wanted to share with as many people as possible.
The game is old (16-bit) so you'd need either a 32-bit version of Windows or Windows 3.1 running in DosBox.
The game was hosted on a site called Otakuworld. The site became members only from the late 90's or early 2000's to 2014. So I hadn't seen any other mention of the game on Youtube or even in Google.
Chrono Trigger is incredible. Characters, music (and atmosphere that it creates, there's probably no other game which soundtrack was remixed so many times) and settings are memorable and to this day I've never seen a game similiar to it. It's one of those games you played as a kid and remember your whole life. Judging by it's esteem, I'm not the only "kid" who enjoyed it so much. I might even say that this and FF7 are the pinnacles of traditional turn-based RPG's.
Back to the topic. Aside from playing Witcher 3 (damn that game takes so long, but it's totally worth it ) I picked Driveclub for PS4 cause it had a nice price, and my friends recomended it. Back in the day I wanted Xbox One mainly because of Forza 6. Well, I can't say Driveclub beats it (in number of cars at least), but I won't complain. The tracks, day/night cicle and weather effects (I think rain physics are even better then in Forza 6) are simply gorgeous. Like people say it feels less realistic and more arcady but it's ok. A really nice game.
pay no heed to the mixed steam reviews, theyre from losers that cant stand the best ai in strategy gaming.

I was playing Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin edition up until about 25 minutes ago when I rage-deleted it.
Other than that, Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Xenoblade chronicles X is like the skyrim for Nintendo. I miss the better story telling of the prequel but the world is so massive and beautiful that it makes up for the below average dialogue and story. Photon Sabers are my favorite weapon to use!!
I've put the game on hold for now cause I need to trade my 8gb wii u for the 32. I don't have like any memory taken up yet I didn't even have enough to get any of the free DLC to increase performance

Can't you buy an external drive and connect it to the Wii U?
You can but....
- they're kinda expensive (haven't found one less than 100, didn't look too hard )
- it's not much more to trade mine in and upgrade
- the 8 gb has some performance problems which I've noticed with the newer games
- I could get a black one
