Mindstorming factions are we?

Bah... dwarves... what's wrong with them humans anyway? I find them pretty interesting.

Dwarf Norse/Winter faction.

Core:
Axeman (ranged attacker with no melee penalty)
Hound (battle-dog, fast and fragile. Attacks can cause severe wounds. Main role is harassing fragile enemy units, e.g. archers.)
Troll (Tamed by beatings, clad in chains and stuff. Good all around melee unit.)


Elite:
Elder (Air and Water sphere magic, mainly buffing magic + ice based damaging magic.)
Huscarl (elite warrior fighting with sword and shield. Assault unit, high speed and damage, average defense.)
Cermode (Huge white bear, worshipped as a guardian spirit. Automatically uses its retaliation when adjacent to an enemy creature who attacks an allied creature. Strikes extremely hard but is pretty slow.)

Champion:
Ice-Giant (Slow, tankish, heavy damage dealer, freezes enemies, tramples and tackles obstacles to bits. Absorbs Water sphere magic into healing.)

I like your idea What would you think about possibly implementing Yeti/Sasquatch, Ice Demon, Tauren, and some Ice Wisp in there?

Yeti would definately make a nice upgrade for the Troll.

I've had a norse faction on my mind for sometime, a bit busy with another faction right now though

Will post that one soon, can't really finish it without knowing everything about Heroes 6 (spell system, advanced hero class system etc etc...) but I'll probably update it as more stuff is revealed.

I'm scared ****less that they're gonna reveal something similar to my current project... then I'll be all rage and stuff...

EDIT: No wait why would I be mad? That'd be awesome.

I think it would be cool and original to see a Norse-based Stronghold. Orcs make good fantasy vikings to me.

Maybe the line-up could be something like this:

Core
Goblin (H5-style)
Fenris Rider (Fast frontline troop)
Valkyrie (Orc support troop)

Elite
Troll (Shooter)
Lindorm (A big Wyrm related to Ylath)
Berserker -> Einherjar (Divine warriors blessed by Ylath)

Champion
Giant -> Jotun

I personally love (dark) elves so I really hope one of the missing factions is elvish.

As for the new faction, they already mentioned it would be something totally new, I'd love to see a faction inspired by ancient Egypt or Asia, however I doubt it would fit with the rest of the lore/universe.

Some kind of a mixed dungeon faction. Utilizes stealth and covert operations on the map.

Lindworm is a nice idea for a unit


I wish a nature based faction with elfs, dendroids from h3, a comeback of the mighty fairy dragon (which is still a very original unit) and such an epic music and atmosphere like the preserve of h4.

possible line-up for 4th faction

i will base it on average amount of
"Old" units (the ones from previous HoMM's)
"Newish" (the ones that reseble the old ones but are called differently so are concidered New. for example Praetorian which i concider to be Pikeman)
and "New" (absolutely new creatures to HoMM universe. example Breeder)

so let's see
Haven
1 New unit
3 Newish
3 Old

Necropolis
3 New
4 Old

Inferno
3 New
1 Newish
3 Old

(so it makes 3 to 4 creatures that we must have from previous Heroes..)

4th Faction

if it is Sylvan
core: Hunter / New / New
elite: Druid / Unicorn / New
champion: Treant

Academy
core: Golem / ArchMage / New
elite: Genie / New / New
champion: Titan

Stronghold
core: Orc / New / New
elite: Cyclops / New / New
champion: Behemoth

Dungeon
core: Medusa / New / New
elite: Minotaur / Hydra / New
champion: New

Dark Elves i still hope they will put Dark Elves out of Dungeon

The 4th faction has to be a fast, quick-killing faction, to mirror Necropolis gameplay. This screams Sorceress/Rampart/Preserve/Sylven/London Zoo/whatever it will be called this time.
That is, unless, the Water Serpents are the speedy ones.

Do not want. It means no Wizards and Warlocks.

YES Yes! either the 4th or the 5th faction but yes, one of them needs to relay on speed and strength, whether it is stronghold, sylvan, dungeon or the 5th ofc. i find this very important because when I play with a might heroes, I most often use speed and high damage as my play-style since I enjoy that the most.

I have severe doubts about Stronghold making an appearence. As much as I love Rocs and Behemoths and Cyclopses, they are an offensive faction and somebody else is wearing those shoes.

Why would it have to be speedy? Academy was slow despite being necro's nemesis in H5.

London Zoo - EPIC !!!!!!!!

Stronghold - can be controversy to Necropolis, as they will relay on magic a lot, while Stronghold on Might

Academy - less likely, but still can be, i would say depending on 5th faction, and also the lore favours them

Nature - oh, i wish it's them so much!!! so much room for imagination to create an awesome faction!!!

Because as a player that enjoys speed when playing, I currently don't have any good faction to "practice that enjoyment", since Haven focus on defence and healing, Inferno focus on gating and Necro focus on damage over time and debuffs. So I loved sylvan and dungeon in H5 because of their speed and high initiative, but if no other faction will exist that are at least a little like them then I will be a sad panda.

Sure both the 4th and the 5th faction can be slow, but then I will need a speed-faction in an expansion!

However if you succeed with creating an interesting hero customization, where the hero him(her)self can really focus on speed, damage and all that good jazz then a "speedy faction" wont be as important.
For the record I also believe that both Haven and Inferno can be really fast.

One just had one's self a thought

We should discuss possible behaviors for the mysterious other two factions.

Everybody knows Haven is defensive, Inferno is offensive and Necropolis is all slow slow slow.
To win a game quickly, I would think killing everyone with high initiative shooters and rushers is the best way to go about it.
What is left other than speedykillers?
Embarrassingly, I cannot think of another behavior.

Haven already(hopefully) have one, the classic Jousting Bonus, which allows it to make more damage the longer it has traveled to hit the target.

Hmm, I hardly doubt that the manticore will be a faction unit, but what if it had its paralyze ability but with a twist. The twist would be that if the manticore is fast enough and attacks a unit that hasn't yet acted then it will always be paralyzed by the manticores first attack.
This way the player will want to attack with the manticore as fast as possible and if just slower units. This ability can ofc belong to another unit instead.

As the necromancers come from the Silver Cities, logically Academy WILL show up. Well unless the Necromancers are considered the Academy right now *shrugs*.  Since I think, however, that the 7th dragon is mentioned..that it will be Academy or Dragon Knights of some kind.

It's NaKndemy Right?  I'm right ain't I?  ((In case you wondering that is naga, Dragon Knight, Academy all rolled up in one and I am NOT serious)).

Edit: Pretty sure it won't be stronghold or Fortress however.  Wouldn't make sense time line wise.

I think they have made Academy way to obvious for it to be the secret, suprise 4th faction. The Silver Cities (sometimes called the Seven Cities aswell) have been mentioned a lot while factions such as Sylvan, which could have a great deal of new interesting creature and have a unique fast fighting style, have not been mentioned at all despite there being major events surroanding this time that would suprise me if they ignore.

If Stronghold comes into H6, then I think it needs to be preceeded by Academy for its early history to make sense.


I hope Sylvan is the 4th faction, Dungeon and Academy expansion towns.
