Just making sure I understood this. WOG files are RAR archives, so technically all I need to do is open the .WOG file with an unarchiver, then copy files to the appropriate folders? The purpose of the installer is to be a more descriptive interface that gets rid of the prompts asking you whether you want to overwrite the existing files?

Skullsplitter I thought you instaled it already...

No, you got it all wrong...

hero15 had a problem with running the updater and so I showed him another way around (using MMarchive). The wog archive is in fact a rar archive, but that's what the updater does. It extracts all the files within in the apropriate place. You can do this manually using MMarchive (as I instructed hero15) but that's not necessary If the updater works.

I did, though I do see a few errors when its WOGifying the map. My son loves your Conflux town, and I'm still trying to figure out how to play the Castle. (Basic WOG's castle was trivial, so I thought maybe it would be an easy one to start with. I was mistaken.) Incidentally, when I had more than 100  peasants in the castle, when I clicked on the peasant in the castle, it crashes. Reboot the machine, load the last game, click on the peasant, crash again. Interested in the error report?

I'm glad he liked it. Actually, Castle still remains a very powerfull town... I for one prefer to avoid recruiting militia and choose to recruit both Paladins and Priestesses instead (thus having both a creature that performs mass prayer and also one that ressurects people). Still, I think all the towns have many changes and so there are many strategies as a result. You have to find your own.

Actually no, I wouldn't know what to do with it anyway

It never happened to me... I don't know what to say. As I stated in many previous occasions like this, the reason WOG crashes could be pretty much anything. Sometimes it crashes and then after you Load the Autosaved game it won't crash at all. I don't have the answer to that.

WOG files are RAR archives

They include special info files with install directions. So they need to be installed, not just unpacked.

Upload wogermlog.txt and wogcrashlog.txt.

Also try after launching the game the following combination:
CTRL_ALT_DEL - RMB on Heroes process - Set Affinity - Only CPU 0.

Not is this case, there are no additional commands in the action.txt, only replacing creatures. Hopefully.

Maybe... Although it will be more of a HoL v3.1

Actually, what I currently lack isn't creature slots and ideas but rather new creature defs that are more Heroes III like... I AM planning for a GRAND update in the future (May or June 2011)... It is certain that I'll find the creature adding usefull (so that I don't have to replace the original creatures anymore).

I don't quite get how it REALLY works though, but in time I think I will

its a very good mod, but sorry to say that in MP LAN games it crashes like every 3 turns and comes with 5 or 6 errors everytime that you have to skip to keep playing and heres a chance again to crash. Dont know if you only made it for single course MP really dont work at all.

BTW i love the update so anyways it can be fixed ???

I don't really play LAN Multiplayer games, so I don't know what to tell you. It surely does work on Hotseat Multiplayer. Are you sure that all the users (in your Multiplayer game) have the same addons? For instance If you have HoL and the Terry pratchet's mod and the other users don't, well I guess that would be a problem. I always thought that Heroes III in general was a bit of a trouble in LAN Multiplayer (and I guess that applies for WOG as well).

You were wrong. WoG and original Heroes fully support LAN and online game. Some scripts were written only for single player and this information is mentioned in their description.

Well, actually there were a lot of people that had problems with it as well (IP problems etc).

But anyway, I don't know If my mod has problems with a LAN multiplayer game so I don't think I can do anything about it...

I never could finish any  WoG MP game. There is always a data transfer error sooner or later. A pity.

You should have external IP without NAT to play or have to use Hamachi to simulate LAN. LAN have no such problems. But it's not the topic of discussion.

It's been a while since I shared any of my progress on the upcoming update. It will have many new creatures, new keywords-abilities and other stuff. So, now and again, I will be posting some teasers on HoL modv3.1. So...

...THIS SUMMER...

HoL v3.1 will have a new Sea-oriented faction (the former neutral faction). This addition will be acompanied by a campaign. Those creatures won't be recruitable in any town, but only through dwellings.

As you might have noticed there are two new unique keywords installed.

OCEANID: Oceanid creatures have Protection from Water or Water spell immunity.

CORSAIR: Corsair creatures have basic Mirth (this is a response to the bandit keyword which gave basic fortune).

I will be posting a more thoroughly made presentation in the near future. I await your thoughts-comments.

Wow. You are one of the few members of community who not only have great ideas, but also make them into the game. Only one little typo: you wrote tryton, but it's actually triton.

By the way, how does the Wench's characteristic 'Adept of Fire and Ice' work?

Well I used the Lava Sharpshooters on them (which have Fire Shield) and made them throw ice. I was planning on making them cast Frost Ring on attack but it seems as a too powerfull addition.

Anyway, the stats and abilities are most likely (if not surely) to change.

well this could be interesting: if I recall correctly, frost ring deals damage to your own creatures as well enemies.

Yes it does... But since most of the creatures in the faction have protection from water (or water spell immunity) it won't be a problem.

I just think it's too powerfull for a third level creature, that's why I hesitate.

In any case I plan to add a LOT of features in this update so much will be changed around before the final release. I'll just post the progress here now and again so stay tuned...
