Quote: If developers and producers put their time and resources to make completely new townscreens from scratch, we cant expect to get them for free. Sure, its their mistake and they have admit it, but if UBI must pay to have them made they will surely send the bill to us.
If you look at it with cold logic you will see that's only way they will deliver proper, polished and professional townscreens.
If they sell you something you don't want or broken, you don't pay for the replacement. Look at it as a contract. We (the customers) have almost unanimously requested the town screens to be changed from what they have shown us in the beta (not the release) version of the product to something which differs quite a lot from their current version. Thus even if we buy the game, this would not mean that we have suddenly started to like the town screens and no longer expect them to be changed as per our initial requests. This makes no sense. So no, there is no reason why we should pay for such an add-on and they will be very stupid to request us to do so. Even though my feelings for Ubisoft are far from warm, I don't believe they will go that far.

Well, we have seen the town windows in the state they are going to be implemented in the game. We know how they will look like and if you buy game you know exactly what you are buying. Its flawed, its not what we wanted but they are not hiding it or trying to deceive us. When you give your money you will get this town windows for that price.
If you are buying the game because you expect that they will change town windows for free that can be considered as deceit but they never said anything about free screens. And this is certainly not the first time that we were led to believe in best possible outcome and were let down by UBI.
I really hate the idea that we will have to wait for long time for proper town screens and that at the end we will have to cough money for it but all my experience tells me that's exactly what we are going to get.
I just hope that I'm just too dark and not spot on. Some serious public announcement would be great to clarify many rising question but I'm not holding my breath for it.

Actually, the wording of the announcement implies that they will be free.
It was referred to as being part of the "post-release support".
When a developer mentions support, they're referring to patches and bug fixes. If they planned to charge money for it, they would call it development or enhancements.
If they refer to it as being part of the post-release support (as they did), and then put a pricetag on it, that's deceitful.
But I don't think they'll do that. They know that the product they're releasing isn't up to par, and that the fans feel very strongly about the product not being satisfactory without town screens. Further, they know that they'll be alienating their fanbase if they charge money for town screens.

We'll just have to wait and see. I don't think it'll be too long after release when they will present the new town screens. Maybe a month or so. I can wait till then.

As long as Town Screens will match the standarts (at least same level as in Heroes 3) i will be pleased! It should be up to standarts full screen interactive Town Screens
i am even ready to wait untill the 1st expansion but if it's guaranteed that we are getting Quality!
Otherwise if its the same crap with some changes then i am not buying it!!!
Will be highly appreciated if Ubi will admit their mistakes and keep us updated about TownScreens developement,
rather then keeping us in the dark, and then showing final result with possible new mistakes!
I still have a hope in Developers, but this time they must get it RIGHT!

Nah, I'm sure it will be 2012 before we see town screens....but maybe I'm wrong I mean they could use the opening screenshot of the Heroes menu as the Haven town screen

It'll be interesting to see how long it takes, and how well it's improved upon. Last time we were promised proper town screens it took 9 months, and nothing really changed.

The main PR guy for h6 has been quoted as saying that town screens are the priority. Maybe just poor wording, but I feel like working on town screens should not stop other things from being #1 priority too, since town screen is mostly a job for your artists and animators, whereas a lot of the other bugs/problems are more coding-oriented.

It's just PR talk. They've claimed to be working on a "proper" town screen for a year now, and it's actually worse now than in the pre-alpha state

You should learn to read. They said that town screen were NOT their priority, but that they definately were on their to-do list. They have way higher priorities than fixing town screens right now (stabilizing the game, fixing the truckload of bugs and balancing factions).

That was before release. I reckon now game is out, they've moved up on priority list. Or at least they ought to have.

They've barely communicated since the game is out and they never said it was their top priority neither before nor after the release Ofc, town screen are high on their to-do list, but surely not higher than fixing issues (bugs or crashes) and balance.

More importantly, what are they actually going to improve? Need I remind of the "improvement" made from the pre-alpha to the release?

I remember telling people how bad the town windows were and how people should stop defending them from Day 1.
I remember telling people that "this is not a placeholder, if you do not start complaining we will have these town windows on release" - and now we do.

Actually, if I'm not mistaken there was a placeholder in the first videos and images we saw of the game. The placeholder just looked better than the final version.

Is this really a big issue for people? There is so much else wrong with how the game actually plays rather than how your town looks when you buy a new building. It just seems like the town screen is a very small and limited view point of the game to get all mad about. I would personally much rather them fix bugs balance races / skills / spells then make my town look better, which if you compare to the previous installment doesn't stall the game for a short period every time you need to go to your town.

Well it does matter for me. I pretty much expect any game I buy these days to be unplayable upon release, but technical bugs I know will be fixed. But I'm not buying this game until I see those Town Screens, because I don't really care to play the game as they look now.
