3D town screens would be cool, like in H5.

Yes, but less functional like in H5. It was very hard to spot the buildings, so interactivity was superfluous. And you did not have the same effect as in previous games where you could enter the town and in an instant know what was built or not.

You know, it just occurred to me that the reason it's taken them so long to make town screens is that now they have to actually design the dwellings for each creature (and their upgrades), which means at least 70 new building designs that weren't there before.
Buildings take more work than creature models to develop because they require a consistency of architecture, so I'm actually not surprised anymore by their absence to this point.
EDIT: And then if you think about the Forts as well...it's a bit of a massive undertaking. Sure, it should have been started a long time ago, but it's a bigger deal than I think we all thought it was.

Agreed. I would rather have "less beautiful" but usable town screens (like in H3) than "take my breath away" cities like in H5.
Btw, nice name xD

What was so breathtaking about the H5 townscreens anyway?
Besides the fly-by camera, I mean.

H5 screens were good looking, but I'm more moved by the traditional ones.

I still preffer H5 Town Screens above all else. But seeing as how these miserable abominations of H6 are taking ages to load, I'm afraid that if they'll try to approach the H5 style, the game will simply be unplayable. So, I'm willing to compromise with H3 ones, which weren't that great but not bad at all.
Just how the Hell, after taking away almost everything from the Town Screens and then some, did they manage to make them so slow? I just don't get it...

How about a mix of H3 and H5 town screens......we could have the immense beuaty of the H5 town screens with the precise knowledge of what's been build by visibly and easily seeing it on the 3D design....
@kodial79 -> The whole performance of loading games and entering towns might be improved in final game, not sure, that's what they mentioned....

They also said that they will give us towns like H3, and look what we got. I've got no reason to believe anything coming from them, unless I see it with my own eyes.

The H5 screens could've benefitted from better textures, less uniform design and less focus on one building (you know what I mean, that thing in the middle that the camera centers around. I wanna see some horizon, dammit).
No matter. That is a thing of the past, and the future is all about hybrid fisher-price windows

Too true. When they're not willing to make even full screen Towns, we can forget about 3D ones.
Well, this their last chance to do it right. 3D or 2D, I really don't care anymore but if they snow up this time too, they can keep their game and play it by themselves.

I'm not so sure just yet, you know. I will most likely buy the initial release but not the very first day it comes out. I'm gonna wait and see what will they do with certain issues, including the Town Screens.
The Town Screens by themselves are not a deal breaker, other things are. However if they try to charge us somehow for the new town screens (I keep hearing that rumor lately) well, that's a deal breaker.

Its just common sense.
If developers and producers put their time and resources to make completely new townscreens from scratch, we cant expect to get them for free. Sure, its their mistake and they have admit it, but if UBI must pay to have them made they will surely send the bill to us.
If you look at it with cold logic you will see that's only way they will deliver proper, polished and professional townscreens.

...And I for one, won't let it pass quietly. If in the future, our worries will be proven baseless and they will give them for free, there's no skin off my back. However judging from how much of an uproar we cause to only get a vague promise of revision, then to get what we want, we need to keep at it.

I have just heard about that rumour and I don't believe it. We are not talking about a Capcom game I don't think they will charge us for something they should have done, but were late to do. Then, in this logic, the game's initial release must be as cheaper as the town screens payment and we would pay the remainder with the town screens.
