Thanks people. The presented graphics cannot be called final, but I just had an urge for a sudden update.

Although the general gameplay in Heroes III: The Succession Wars differs notably from what was in the predecessor game, some mapmakers' ideas now can be fully implemented, just like they wanted to. Much more convenient map editor and flexible settings granted by Heroes 3 engine did come in handy for some classic maps as well, the conversions of which will be available in the upcoming release for the general public to play and brush off a tart nostalgic tear

That's what I meant.

Hopefully this means we'll get THUNK as well?

Only Last Hope for now. It's more convenient to make maps with less pre-defined properties, because the mod is currently WIP and it's sometimes hard to maintain and update complex maps.
In future, it might be even possible to convert the WoG version of Last Hope campaign which is rumored to be half complete. I never played it myself though, Corribus knows more.

I've played the WoG version of Last Hope only briefly, but I have played the WoG version of THUNK quite a bit, and I don't like that version of the map at all.
A true purist/vanilla conversion of the classic HoMMII THUNK on the Succession Wars Mod would be a dream.

Looking at the screenshots makes the wait so much more unbearable. The work you've done looks great so far.
On a sidenote, looking the the screens, I think you've only showed the good version of the UI from the original game, does that mean that changing to evil UI is impossible on HIII, or that you just haven't gotten to it yet?

I might think about adding some new maps before the release. This one, however, has sections which are heavily built on creature properties, while they differ noticeably in H3SW, like Peasants. This will surely require a lot of testing.
I tend more towards adding more H3 maps though, because the list is not so rich currently, so people might run out of maps pretty quickly. Good thing is that RMG is working now, producing considerably nice quality maps, looking exactly like some classic H2 examples. Not like THUNK of course, but still convincing enough, thanks to the fact that H2 maps don't need a lot of objects to catch the player's eye.
I hope to have all H1, H2 and H3 official maps prior to the v1.0 release. We will need a lot of help from outside, though. I lost faith in having an automatic full-conversion utility, so it's manual labor for the most part.

I think it is generally possible in future to invent the "toggle interface" button. For now though, even Good interfaces are far from perfect. Also, an interim implementation of Evil interfaces would concern WoG options or even some downloadable content.
I also had ideas for a hypothetical third "Neutral" interface, but it's just a dream until we finish the necessary parts of the game.

I sincerely hope all of you will not be disappointed after these 5 years. Still, I have to admit that I intentionally don't show some parts which are questionable for now.

The Thunk wog version is genius and, imo, should not be ported to SW as it requires precise timing and plot trigger which also depends on the specific H3 design. It would be a hell of work for you.

Any H2-H3 map with pre-set properties might require additional headache during the conversion process. Still, many maps may have shifted balance because we have different creature statistics (and will have them even more different in future, plus entirely new magic/artifact system). The maps just cannot be the same, but we must at least ensure their playability, eventually. Probably, it will be done long after the upcoming v0.8 release.

Can't figure out why you want to use creatures which are obviously out of style (and I suspect that you already use some H3 style creatures as well, so the lineups might be a total mess), but okay, you can do that.
