Haven on adventure map from Gamescom trailer - hmm... it seems to have something, that town screen is lacking but what it could be?
And also for all who have difficulties with finding Elrath's statue on Limbic's town screen:

Depends on god. Some don't need anything, others "eat" worship and some others indeed need to eat (souls - Chaos Gods for example).
Elrath eats... Righteousness.

No. No no no no no. H4 town screens were the absolutely worst of the series ever. The fact that they were made modular so they could appear on any terrain didn't solve the problem at all, it only meant that towns looked bad BOTH on the adventure map AND on the town screen. At least with the H3 solution, they looked good on the town screen, even if they did look a bit weird when they spawned outside their native terrain on the adventure map.

Gryphs said: I would not call it very colorful time if we are talking about buildings that is as most were made out of wood and stone the grey and brown colors are inevitable.
Well that depends on the buildings. At the time of their construction, the human faces which adorn the porches of cathedrals were painted lively colors : of the blue, the red, the white, the green, the black and even the gold ? These numerous traces of polychromies, of an unsuspected largeness, were discovered during the recent restoration of portals. Cathedral of Amiens is a good example, one of the nicest "classical" gothic churches of the XIIIth century, acknowledged by specialists as a model of architectural perfection.
Back to the TS workshop, I centralized under one animated gif the three versions from which I altered atmosphere :
I used Elrath's statue provided by Avonu, I think it looks better than the other one.

@Galaad
My favorite is closest to original. I admire the amount of work and passion you spent on making alternative town screens. I think you deserve QP for it.

It's likely due to the contrast of colours, but the yellow stone of the citadel-hill looks like an open gold-vein now.
It's there in the original too, I know, but due to the bright colours of the originals, it's not as conspicuous.

The fact that they were modular had nothing to do with how it was displayed on the terrain. The fact that they were modular made them look bad, period.
Seriously, take the Haven townscreen from Heroes 3. Someone made a mod for it, making it look like it was under heavy snowfall (I can't find the image anymore, regretably - if anyone knows which one I mean and where to find it, feel free to link it ). Same townscreen, but different seasonal setting. And that's all there is to it, really; design a townscreen - which can be as beautiful and as ugly as anything - and then create different variaties / flavors / versions of the backdrop and each of the images projected on it. One at high summer, one in wintery snowfall, or perhaps one for all seasons as well as the terrain types on which it occurs. One at dusk, at dawn, midday. Then simply make sure that of each of the different versions, it selects the correct graphic and draws that on screen.
That has nothing to do with the actual setting and everything with the atmosphere such an image breathes. Heroes 4 townscreens sucked in their setting, plain and simple.

Some nice work there, Galaad! I think the one without the snow looks the best, but any of them looks better than the current official one, which looks really unfinished compared to these.

hmm i guess im going to pick "without snow" too, its defienetly brilliant. new elrath statue looks far better in both position/shape. walls, houses and other improvements are really nice. its finnaly looking like a proper haven town.
side note: as a last wish, i think this town needs some stone roads.

Well I agree with you to some extent, but the only way to realistically make town screens look good with variable settings will be to make different skins for each building for each setting, because otherwise they won't match light setting, climate etc. of the new setting (you need snow cover in snow setting, while snow cover obviously can't be present in desert setting, etc.). That basically means that each set of building will have to be made 5 or 6 times, and chance of that happening is zero.
