He's flirting, isn't he? I'm not sure what i was expecting...

"This 'humble knight' can talk to me like a member of this company as a start, ya' hear? No i'm hear to ask you how one is to obtain such high-quality plate-mail. Scale works well enough but yours seems to allow for much higher freedom of movement so i'm feeling the necessity to get one myself. I also wonder what Magnus had to say about its continuous damage"

Please say he promised to get some training in! She thought to herself.

"Oh, sorry, force of habit, there are things that you can't take out of your system too easily" Francis answered embarassed, then continued "Well, first of all I personally went to a blacksmith in Merinanth to forge this armor exactly fitting for me, I also payed extra to have it done more resilient than usual. I take it you're interested in using a plate armor? If so, it will seem strange but it won't hinder you too much even when you're not trained in it, if it isn't too heavy as some are. But it won't allow you to get up easily in a fight or be too much acrobatic in general, for that you'll have to train to sustain it. As for Magnus, let's just say this armor is keeping us apart, he regularly scolds me for my carelessness in it and worries that this will destroy my armour at some point... Do you need something else?"

As he pronounced the last word he thought that maybe it wouldn't have been a bad idea to just shut up after answering as he started fearing that maybe she would understand something else, but, as he usually says: old habits never die...

Isabella read while horseback, the most effective way of passing time as far as she was concerned, and the nice day made it perfectly practical. She chuckled when she heard Elena respond to Francis. Francis' "chivalry" graded on her at times and she had almost snapped at him back at the tavern had it not been for Zet's arrival. Sighing she directed her eyes back to her book hoping the trip to Navgrod would pass without any problems.

"Well, then..." Francis continued his advancement to the front, now riddled on how to sound more "common" when talking to his comrades, he always felt that talking with a lower vocabulary was demeaning to him and as a result he didn't want to insult his company by talking like a commoner, but apparently the women in the group didn't appreciate him talking in his usual way...
"They just don't like my wording, it's not me..." thought Francis, embarassed another time because of his particularly gentle manners.

"I have the distinct impression that they think I'm some kind of pervert, and I don't get why, is it because of my past? That was father's fault. Is it because I talk smoothly to women merchants? That's my job, if I didn't do that I may not get discounts. Or is it because sometimes I actually seduced some village girls? That's a rare occurrence, and since I entered the company I didn't have any chance anyway, and that's difficult to do, since I don't want to take a maiden's virtue..."

Francis was puzzled, but he probably would forget that, since that wasn't the first time he thought that.

"Oh well, I almost forgot I had to ask my lord what shall we do with the jewels we found, I have the feeling one of them may be particuarly interesting..."

And which piece is as you put it, special? is it a heirloom of some sort? if you suspect it's enchanted, get it to Halfman for inspection. we want to be careful with that.

Dragomir was amused, even though he didn't showed it. The overall courtesy of Francis was impressive, albeit a bit over the top sometimes, suited to the court of a king perhaps, not in a middle of a blunt company of mercenaries. but it has never hurt to be polite.
- You don't need my permission for that. just take that thing to Halfman. What's the point of having a Samann mage if he doesn't do his work, and just gambles all day with the rest? with that jewel, he probably would spend a couple of days usefully.- Dragomir's hand touched the pommel of his sword. His father always repeated that the sword is enchanted, but it never showed any magical properties whatsoever. Even Halfman couldn't reveal it's secrets. but then again, Halfman wasn't the most powerful member of Samann mage clan, and the sword that Dragomir had was of ancient origins. time will tell.

John took a couple of sips from the ceramic bottle Magnus offered him. He didn't drink much, as he learned at an early age that humans tend to be wary around half-giants in general and prefer not to find out what one can do when drunk. Still, he considered drinking a social activity and participated in it now and then to fit in with the rest. It wasn't especially hard - his size alone assured that he would not get drunk before anyone else in the company, save for Magnus who according to one story once out-drunk the whole Brotherhood, one at a time. And that was when there were a lot more members here.

"I like the idea of adding metal plates to my club. I have been musing with the notion myself lately. As it is, I have to make a new one too often for my liking and there isn't always a handy oak nearby." John scratched his beard thoughtfully, "I don't know about armor though. Funny as it may sound, I like being light on my feet. It especially helps during hunts and such. Still... you have a valid point. I do like my kneecaps where they are right now. I suppose having extra protection in the bag to put on in time of trouble is not a bad idea. Thank you, Magnus. Anything else on your mind?"

Now, this is a paradox...

You might be asking yourselves "Where is Zet? Why did he disappear like that?" and for a good cause.
As soon as I was done looting the decrepit house (grabbing what weapons I found there, along with some of Wezzu's food and some gold lying here and there), I snuck out of town and got into the weapon-carrying wagon. There I put what arms I had with me and took my rapier back. Once I was done with that, I jumped into another wagon, this one carrying supplies and whatnot. I peeked into the sack with food and saw a chunk of smoked ham smiling at me as if it was telling me "Eat me, Zet, eat me now!"
Of course, being a good fellow that I am, I couldn't turn it down. And even though I could smell the stew being cooked outside, I just COULDN'T bother getting up. There was some bread and an onion, too. As far as I'm concerned, that was pretty much all I needed to fill my stomach, and before I knew it I woke up when a sunbeam hit me in the face. Such is the life when you're sleeping in a freight wagon with a hole in the cloth.

"Oh, god, can't I get any sleep at all?!", I exclaimed, to which the driver mockingly responded "Rise and shine, Zet!"
I got up and stretched, as sleeping on the wooden floor wasn't that comfortable, y'know. My back was killing me yet again. I was only hoping I could retire with the money I get from returning this goddamn goblet.

"I guess it's time I got to some spy-vestigating around here", I said to myself as I exited the wagon.

I get to work as soon as we reach Navgrod.- MAgnus said.- if our adversaries were fearful of you now, they'll run and scream like little girls, after seein yer improved mace.- Magnus chuckled. he took a swig of the stout. Magnus didn't told the Half-Giant about his intention's to fashion him a helmet as well. He thought it would be a nice surprise for John.

And as time went by, the distance grow short, and the company found themselves near the walls of Navgrod. Fields of wheat and barley surrounded it, with an occasional apple orchard.  The gates opened, allowing the company to enter the city. there were no place to set up camp in the outskirts of the city, but there was plenty of space within it's walls. the company was directed to an empty space near one of the barracks.
after the camp was set up, and Magnus went out to find a forge he could use, the captain of the lord's guard approached Dragomir.
- The Lady Raddwil would like to see you m'lord.- He said.
- Allright. give me a few minutes to hand out some coin for the lads-  Drago replied, while a short line was already been forming. to each, Dragomir gave 100 gold talars, to spend as they wish. It should be enough to keep them busy, and hopefully out of trouble, while Dragomir visits Lady Raddwil.

"Payday, yay!" Thought Francis, completely confused, before entering the city he had eaten some berries on a tree that made him dumber by the minute, the effect wouldn't last long, but surely this would have been the best time to talk to him, as he returned on a child-like state.

After taking the money he saw the faces of his comrades, puzzled for his odd expression, he still didn't talk, as when he was a little kid he was actually pretty shy, luckily. After leaving the group he went to the city, walking with no destination, the first stop was in a wine shop where he bought an entire bottle of fine wine, and just as he exited the building he opened the bottle and drank it immediately.

After the alcohol entered his belly he realized what happened, and started acting more restrained than usual, as he feared being seen as drunk, and, considering he didn't even eat before drinking the entire bottle he was quite dizzy, but fine nonetheless.

Having found again lucidity in his mind, but not in the body, he went to search for something interesting for him, while stumbling several times on the road. He eventually found a clothing shop, where he decided to buy some new clothes for himself, as his old ones were getting tattered, he eventually settled on a pair of black leather pants, a white shirt, and a black leather jerkin. There he found a group of young nobles that were deciding on what to wear for a banquet that would occur that night, when they saw Francis' manners and preferences they asked him who he was, who were his parents and where he came from; after Francis revealed his identity the nobles were amazed, as they had heard of the tale of the young Calandrine who fled home because of an organized marriage, it turns out that Francis' story became synonymous with a struggle for freedom and for love, and as such they were full of questions and the ladies there couldn't believe they were in front of him, because the story also says that he married a woman in secret and that he was put in prison but got out thanks to a special poem dedicated to his captor, things that actually didn't happen.
Francis told them his story, emboldening some details and lying about some facts, and for that the young boys and girls were even more amazed for the great story he told them; the group decided to ask Francis for some advice on clothing and then started talking about poetry, the group also offered to gift Francis some new fancy clothes, to which the knight was extremely happy to accept and as a thanks gave them some rhymes for their generosity.
When Francis was leaving the store he was stopped by them, and was invited to the banquet, Francis however declined the offer, because he didn't know if he could come that night, but promised that if he was actually free he would come, leaving them with a big smile on their faces.

He continued his little tour of the city, he then found an old bookshop, there he almost lost his composure, as he was excited to see what he could find, not all books there were worthy of buying, but this bookshop in particular had some rare books in its possession, he also found that the merchant was a nice fellow that knew a lot regarding a great deal of subjects. Francis decided to buy some old books that were lying there, one was an ancient tome of philosophy that talked about morality, another was a manual of fencing by a famous swordsman of the past century, and a book regarding the ancient artifacts that were forged ages ago.
The merchant was happy to see that somebody finally decided to buy something, Francis decided to chat a little, since he was in a good mood that day, he discovered that lately business in that shop didn't go that well apparently, and, as he was turning old, the merchant wanted to close his shop and stay with his grandchildren, but wanted to secure some money for his family, as his son died in war. The two talked for about an hour, about a lot of things, the recent events in the world, old legends, and, of course, poetry; Francis was so moved that when the old man decided to give him a large discount on the books he decided to give him some extra money, as he felt he was doing a favor to a friend, and wanted to reciprocate. The old man initially refused the extra, but since Francis told him that he usually barters with merchants, this time he wanted to help instead of thinking for himself, as a result the old man accepted the extra and gifted Francis a small handbook containing prayers, while Francis promised the man that if he could somehow find a way he would try to send some letters.

Francis, still thinking about his last meeting, was deep in thought, and at the same time hungry, during his walk he almost heard a faint call for his name, he turned around but didn't see anything, he stopped for a minute or so to see if someone was looking for him, but no one showed up; Francis decided to go on with his way, and found a pastry shop nearby, seduced by the smell he decided to go there and eat something, he found a wide assortment of sweets, but eventually settled on a slice of apple pie, and as he believed the taste was just like the smell, something glorious; he also talked a bit with the woman at the counter, leaving her with some rhymes for her and her shop, convincing her to give him another slice free of charge.

In the end he was ecstatic for having the occasion to talk with some like minded people and moved by the generosity of a lot of them, he was starting to worry that maybe he wasn't acting like he should have, but decided to go on with his ways to fulfill his duties, but started deciding to not be so attached to his personal money. He was also worried that someone was following him, but since that someone wouldn't show up he gave up on the thought of it.

After three hours or so since he got out of the camp he decided to return, and see where did the others go...

Magnus was adjusting his knapsack, full of metal ingots, as well as his smithing tools when he heard Elena calling him out. It seemed she wanted his help in purchasing a new piece of armor, and replace her current scale mail.
- ah, sure thing lass, let's go find an armorer.- Magnus said and took a swig from his wineskin.
There were few of them in this town. Magnus and Elena bypassed the ones where the smiths worked with tools of poor quality, and a small number of apprentices.
After several shops, Magnus halted Elena on one smithy. It seemed clean, the tools were of finest quality, it had a decent amount of apprentices, as well as a heap of items on display for sale.
- Tis be the place where they make the good stuff. Hoy, lad, where's the smith?- He asked an apprentice. The boy was about 16 years old. The blacksmith was an aged man, bald, with a thick and bushy moustache.
- How can I help you?- He asked.
- There be two things, my good man- Magnus said- first, the last overthere- He pointed at Elena- Need's to replace her old coat o'scale. Second, I'd need to use yer forge.
The smith raised his eyebrow.
- You're one of them mercenary folk who come in today? From the Free Company?
- Aye, ye be right me man. Magnus Goldbeard, at yer service.
The smith looked at the dwarf, then smiled.
- Alright, you can use my forge. for how long you'd be staying?
- Few days most likely. I think that'll be the time it'll take to forge the armor and improve one giant mace. To make the most of it, I have to start working as soon as possible. If yer excuse me.
- Of course- The smith replied, and went over to Elena, to help her pick out her new armor, while Magnus started working on leg armor for John, by starting to heat up few ingots in the forge.

Dragomir, accompanied by the captain of the Raddwil guard went into the castle-palace of Navgrod. once inside, they made to the dining hall. there he found Lady Raddwil, the wife of the old lord Raddwil, as well as a young man, nearly 30 years of age.
The lady gestured for Drago to sit down. He was offered a drink, and some food.
- My lady, what is this about? surely you haven't got me summoned just to keep you company for lunch.
The old woman smiled.
- Oh of course not. there is a favor I wish to ask you Lord Dragonheart.- Dragonheart was Drago's nickname, given to him a few years after his father's passing.
- I am no lord my lady, but I will try to help in any way I can.
- Young Mikolaj here. He's a basterd of old Raddwil. and he wishes to follow in the steps of Krystoph.
- Join the Brotherhood?- Dragomir was amazed, but didn't showed it.- Is it true lad?
- Yes sir. There's nothing for me here, I wish to be a part of the Free Company, like my Half-Brother before me.- The lad looked determined. Dragomir took a sip from his goblet.

"Here we are. This be the plates we currently have. What are you looking for?" the man asked Elena, who looked through the plates.

"just replacement for this thing -" she gestured over the Scale again "- and maybe something for the upper arms. Say, What's your highest quality and what would that cost?"

"Well the finest breastplate and tasses we have now would cost you about 85 talars. Of course that would not include the rerebrace, pauldrons or couter nor the refitting, which i would say would come to a total of 140 talars."

"Seems fair" heh, Dragomir basically payed that for me "Could we get that started now?"

The smith seemed to ponder this for a while before answering. "Could do, though i'd need to measure you. Shouldn't take too long and i'd like some payment in advance. fifty talar should do it."

Counting them, Elena handed half the amount of coins in her newly acquired purse over and was handed to an apprentice who took her appropriate measurements before she was let go and she returned to camp with instructions to return the day after tomorrow. She barely spent any of the money she made in this profession since both shelter and food was provided so another 40 talars was not much of a problem even if it was a bit of an impulse-buy.

After receiving her money Isabella went into the city to see if anything was worth purchase. She ended up buying a few books filled with poetry and stories after all camp life could be boring and reading was one of best ways to pass the time as far she was concerned. She probably would have searched the city longer, but she had intended to spar with Allihka. After getting back to camp she documented the last few days in her journal, and then went to seek out the orc.
