Hope they bring back creature speed impacting hero move speed. that was a cool (if in need of actually being told) mechanic that i would like to return.
So is random skills good? A pick of it showed up in the bug thread and it seemed promising.

You also have to take into account map sizes and how far are map locations from each other.

It's good, basically the same as in HV, but for me the problem is, take a look at the screenshot (Dies Irae screenshot):
Screenshot
I don't know to which skill the ability belong to, on the screenshot it's obvious because of 'fire scholar' but when you have Righteousness, Offense and leadership, I had no idea which ability belongs to which skill

Yes, so far the random skill option feels just like Heroes V to me. They just need to let us right-click the skills to see which part of the pie they come from. Of course, I will play with free skill selection because I prefer that, but I know this was a big issue for many.
Unrelated to skills, I did want to comment on the maps sizes and hero movement. There is a lot going on here. The zoom affects how big the map looks. Being zoomed out makes the map look smaller to me, and thus the hero movement looks short. When I zoom on the way in, I cannot move the camera to see where I am going very well, but the movement feels more appropriate. That large map feels really large. I like that. Just getting into the small map after work today.

Is it just me or is the early game a lot easier for Academy than Haven since the Cabot can just rrssurect all your early creatures?

Does anyone ever choose the Shooting Range instead of the Slaughterhouse?
For those not knowing what I am talking about: In the current beta build, all non-champion creatures have a building that boosts their growth. However, if you build on of these buildings, there is another building you cannot build, unless you tear down the hoard-building.
In the Haven town, one of the choices you're offered is the Slaughterhouse, which boosts Dire Wolf growth, or the Shooting Range, which boosts Crossbowmen Growth.
There are other such choices, like the Moat versus the Champions Guardtower, or the Resource Silo versus the Embassy.
Do not understand me wrong, this concept is something I support. By choosing to boost one thing, you choose not to boost another.
However, I find that the Slaughterhouse is very much more usefull than the Shooting Range. Because Dire Wolf Base Growth is 10 versus 20 for Crossbowmen. However, my Crossbowmen, rarely moving suffer much less casualties than fast and very offensive Dire Wolves do. Keeping Dire Wolf casualties down requires effort, which makes the boosted growth (+4) a welcome relief. Crossbowmen, rarely suffering casualties, don't need the boost, thus I see little reason to ever not pick the Slaughterhouse. Making it much less of a choice.
Does anyone else have similar experiences.

So, anyone being able to get 60 fps constant?
Because all this talk about skills, models animations and bugs is going to be superfluous if I have to play this at 35-40 fps.

I have a Geforce GTX 550 TI 1GB (a few year old upper-mid-level card) and am getting between 25-35 fps running on max settings at 1920x1080. It doesn't feel sluggish and during game play there aren't any real framerate drops.
It's somewhat irrelevant what the FPS you are getting during the Beta if you are trying to estimate the final product's performance. I remember during the Heroes 5 Beta I was getting around the 5-12fps (may as well have been 0), by the time the official product came out on the same hardware I was closer to 35-40fps which was acceptable.

Honestly, after looking at some streams and at some youtube videos with people playing the beta, i can say that the UI is crap and i really prefer the UI from older and other games: from H5, H4 or H3. Even the UI from heroes online is a LOT better than the current H7 UI.
H7 current UI feels bulky and uninspired.
For example: the chest options buttons (gold or experience) are looking like they went with the first prototype and not even considered improving them or changing them.
I mean: even the "POST" comment button from this site (https://mmh7.ubi.com/en/blog), looks better than the "1500 gold" button

I don't see why you'd use the doggies for creeping. They are the kind of unit you leave in your town to accumulate because they die too easily Warmachines, archers, priests surrounded by small sentinel stacks works fine for creeping. I'm guessing that shooter boosting wacry works too, it gives +8 attack. If you also upgrade the sentinels they give crazy survivability to each other and then there's that defensive perk for adjacent stacks in righteousness. No need for doggies.

Doggies are pretty good for reaching enemy shooters instantly though. I'm thinking Celestial Shield would work good on them.

Wolves almost always. They're the best cores anyway.
And yes, as Elvin said, use one stacks as much as possible and save the bulk in your town for when it becomes more relevant.

Don't see why not though I doubt I'd upgrade both doggies and mage guild during week 2. I have always prefered to add more elite dwellings.
