I still wear my green socks (which are indeed super comfortable) and my Field Jacket. I'll even throw on my PT Jacket when fall rolls around. I was looking at the AAFES site a few weeks ago and thought about getting a jacket from the new style of PT gear. I actually think the black and yellow looks pretty slick.

no way, man. not for 7 years now. and i wear my camo field jacket, too(although rarely, since i usually wear the camo pants). i bought a black one(to go with my black bdu pants) as well; with a liner. it's my go-to winter coat.
i used to wear my combat boots(the black leather ones), but i've since given them up for sneakers. more comfortable that way. especially with the green socks.

I am particularly agreed with mr artu, and I can even add something from my own experiece. How strong different ideologies applied to the folks, that is in the stress conditions (such as war). Of course this will be truly subjective, and local statistic. And perhaps wrong, but anyway.. If we moving from the strong to weak:
Patriotism > Communism > Nationalism > Religion (to be more preciously Christianity, Orthodox stuff, and Islam) ,
Do not blame me, it is a very-very humble and subjective analysis that cannot be used as a general statistic. Anyway, everyone, regardless of the propaganda stuff in their sooner or later, askin a question, such as: "Bloody hell.. For what its worth?! What the hell I am doing here... This is all wrong! I gonna die, and thats all! The end. I need to get out..."
And from my experience, to listen to the "veteran-stories" it is a VERY bad idea... To obtain a truth from a veterans, usually you need to beat them I am joking.

I'll do my best here but some of your questions are difficult to understand.
When you say situation, do you mean living conditions? Are you asking what the day to day for the average soldier is?
If so, I can only speak from my own experience. It varies from post to post in the US and also differs based on job. My normal work day in the states consisted of waking up early as hell, before the sun was up, for our morning formation. They would make sure everyone was there and if we didn't have anything more important to do, we would exercise. For my unit, that usually meant running or what's called ruck marching which basically means put a bunch of stuff in your backpack and march a designated path for a set number of miles. Usually around 10 or so miles.
After that, they give us some time to shower, change, and eat chow before "work". We then had to get to the motor pool where we would spend most of our day unless we were doing a field exercise or inventory of our storage containers. If it was Monday, we would have another formation but this one would be with our Command Sergeant Major so he could tell us how many people got in fights or did something dumb over the weekend.
Next we broke off into our Platoons and we're addressed by our Platoon Sergeant. After he was done talking we broke off into our squads and our section sergeant would tell us what he wanted done before we could call it quits for the day. Usually it involved checking our trucks and other equipment. I was in a commo unit so we had to check our radios, computers, routers, and other fun stuff.
If we got done with our tasks quick, our team leader (another sergeant) would tell us to "pop smoke" and keep our phones on.
End of day formation was supposed to take place around 5:30 or 6 PM but in reality it was whenever our 1st Sergeant bothered to show up.
That was the average day. There were plenty of times we did other stupid nonsense like field exercises, practice runs/ battle scenarios, rifle qual, gas chamber, and roll over drills.

Where is the dishwashing, sweeping, wrapping your pillow and prepping your bed? Our captain wanted our blankets perfectly even and that required our blade.The pillow was also required to be impeccably folded within our second blanket. Serious business.

I didn't even think to mention all that. Yeah, we had room inspections all the time. It was just force of habit to get up and make my bed. I had a ruler that I kept in my dresser drawer to perfectly measure everything.
This wasn't mine but it's close enough.

Oh my God, that bed has wrinkles! Man, the silliness of it all. Once we had an inspection by our commander and the coffee guy's bed was not well-made. We would normally make it for him since he was away but that day he got a day's prison out of bad luck ____________

Anyway, I guess I should be lucky that I have a collapsible bed that can be turned into a sofa.
And, new (unsurprising) news - the president and the prime minister that want the military service in the country - didn't even serve the military when the time for that was. And, even more unsurprising is the fact that when they were supposed to serve the military, the independence war was raging on, about 25 years ago.

Things are heating up in here. An organization, translated as "workers' union" or somesuch, has announced they would protest against this military service a few days ago. Apparently, today they went to report this to the officials, the place of the protest being just outside the headquarters of the ministry of defense, on February 11, 2017.
Alarming news are that someone else has decided to make a protest at the exact same place, just 30 minutes earlier. The officials have refused the anti-military protest, due to *that* reason. Apparently, this other protest is pro-military.
And, just to "spice things up", one of the parliament members has commented on this military service. The guy was somewhat annoyed, stating "where is the right for all the young people to just flee away from the country when the war is raging". It just people like these that make me truly disgusted by the country I live in. We have a high unemployment rate that forces a lot of people to fly off to Germany or other countries, while people like these just comment from their "golden toilets".
And, just to remind, that some people, after finishing high school, have to work to pay college the next year.
they do realise that Febuary 11th is a Saturday, right? And they're gonna be shouting their slogans and crap at the facade of an empty building.
