I'm not sure exactly what you mean.
What I mean is others refer to the statements of their opponents with "negative" adjectives or negative descriptive phrases also. You used "nonsensical" and other things. Why, on page 1 of the "Satanic questions" thread Xerox said "I think that is ridiculous" about Shares post yet no moderator chastised him for it even though I was chastised for using the word ridiculous to describe a statement of yours.
I'm not going to bother going through the whole thread listing other examples.
Note that I don't agree with Angelito's interpretation of the COC that calling someone's idea nonsensical, silly, ridiculous, a mirage, an illusion, ect is insulting the person. Such phrases clearly are describing the idea ther person put forward, not the person presenting the idea. But if he is going to forbid one person to call another person's ideas ridiculous then he should forbid everyone to do the same.
And if moderation is to be consistant both moderators have to be enforcing the same things.
I can't speak for the moderation, of course, but I think it's just your interpretation, that the problem is "using negative adjectives to describe the ideas of others" in general.
In fact it seems to be a combination of the specific words and the way it is done.
Just for starters, there is a world of difference between saying, "It is very silly to say x", and, "I think (or in my opinion), x is silly".
In the first version you claim something as a fact, in the second you just express your opinion: "There is no god." "I think, there is no god."
That's a big difference.
Of course, silly and ridiculous are not the best words to describe anyone's statements with - something can seem very silly and very ridiculous and still be absolutely true.
Generally, a little more care in abusing each other's statements can't be too bad for the board.

Well we're both Germans so I guess that someday perhaps you might get to slap me. I'll be in bavaria soon (for some reason I always think of you living in Bayern... no idea why) . Still I don't quite agree with you. What I did isn't similar to football fans in heat moaning about decisions. I did my research on the subject before complaining. But heeey it's all good and well now and you probably won't see me in here again unless something equally outrageous as Corribus getting penalized happens (I can't think of anything....).

And well Mytical... it's not everybody screaming that you're horrible. So no need to portray it like that, hm? The fact that the penalty has been revoked does kinda mean that the penalty was a mistake, no? Ergo the criticsm was justified, no? And really... most of it was phrased nicely and everything (with the exception of mine perhaps). So no need to be like that.
Oh btw has Adrius's penalty been revoked too?

If anyone wants to know why the OSM is in a sorry state one only has to look at the events of the past week. Before I started participating in the OSM there was a little "cabal" of people who were continually trashing religious people, America, and capitalism. That same "cabal" is still doing the same thing after all this time and operates with the apparent blessing of at least one of the moderators.
The OSM will never improve as long as a moderator flaunts violating the COC and holds those who share his beliefs to a different standard of the COC than he holds others to.
It is sad when certain people can flaunt derision of a community member knowing full well that there is little to no chance of any action being taken against them.

Elodin you are both right and wrong.
You are right that this board is full of hypocrisy. That's true of the way the board is run, and of the members. I've been around a lot longer than you and I can say it's always been very hypocritical around here, long before you got here.
It's also true that you've been singled out and treated differently than others. It's true that you've been ridiculed and disrespected in ways that others are not. It's also true that Angelito, who happens to be a mod, is one of the worst ones in this regard.
On the other hand you are in the wrong. You basically troll and people react to it. I'm sure you don't see it as trolling, but I'm not stretching the definition much to call you one. Just because you believe in what you say doesn't make it not trolling.
I'll speak plainly. I'm not much for diplomacy which is just a fancy word for lack of communication. Bottom line is that you are a Jesus freak and people find Jesus freaks to be HIGHLY annoying. People HATE to be preached at.
You might feel that it's your Christian duty as an evangelist to "spread the word of God". A couple thousand years ago maybe you could spread the word of God. But now? Anywhere in the western world we have heard it...hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of times. It gets real old after a while. Just because you slightly repackage it and say a few things somewhat differently than another Jesus freak doesn't make people any more receptive to it. They don't want to hear it, period.
I'm sure you've been at it long enough to know the reactions you get. Even though you believe what you say, you knowingly say things that are going to get a reaction. I agree the common reactions to your posts around here are wrong. But you say things knowing you will get those kind of reactions. If it weren't for all the other Jesus freaks in the world you might get by with it. But people are just plain sick of it. Spreading the word of God does not mean cramming it down people's throat.
You knowingly do and say things that you know from experience get very negative reactions. Then you come to this thread and demand immunity. All the people who somehow feel compelled to argue with you are TOTALLY in the wrong. There are a large number of people who rarely if ever post in the OSM. But when you post they just can't help but come and argue and degrade you. They are in the wrong, there is no doubt about that. However you are also in the wrong, but you want immunity for what amounts to trolling. Well you aren't going to get it. You can't have a free ride and sanctuary where you can troll to your heart's content with all the readers politely nodding their heads.
You are in the lion's den. Do you think that Daniel would have been protected if he had provoked the lions?

Before you came along, El, we had MVass and a few others to defend capitalism; me, TheDeath, Mytical and a few others to defend religion (using healthy approaches and points of view, except occasionally TheDeath, but I'd still pick his posts over yours any day); and Binabik, Corribus, Wolfman and other (more or less) rational Americans to defend America (though that basically comes down to defending capitalism, just with an occasional war here and there).
Then you ushered a new age of darkness with your stubbornness which would shame TheDeath, conservatism which makes all the republicans on the board look like communists, endless Bible quoting and religious fanaticism, with enough hypocrisy to justify wars, call for murders (like Assange's), and other stuff which effectively destroyed my wish to even get near those discussions again except to chuckle at people getting trolled by you.
It was fun for a while but it outstayed its welcome even in my eyes.
It's time to bring this place back into shape.
